    Hi Matt, I drove the Support Truck for The Melbourne Grammar School Orchestra Steam Train Tour of Victoria and Southern New South Wales last December 2022. Wycheproof was the first evening Concert performance of the Tour in the lovely Town Hall. We fed the boys and staff at the Bakery just a couple of doors down the street from the Hall. I thought Schoolboy rowers could eat, well those Orchestra boys were devouring that Lasagne dinner at a rate to give any rowers a run for their money! 😂
    Wycheproof is friendly town, and a great place to visit and stay while exploring the Southern parts of the Mallee country. Great video!

      I didn't know for years either until I saw a RUclips video on Wycheproof, ever since I'd wanted to visit myself and get some footage! Rockhampton is notably the more major street running railway in Australia and it's on the list to visit next!

      The cars you may have seen on Narrow Gauge would not have been Overland cars, or certainly not like you see here. These are the genuine Overland air-conditioned cars that were used on the Broad Gauge between Melbourne and Adelaide. These are owned and maintained by 707 Operations.

    I seem to believe this would never work in Sydney. Even with a fenced off rail corridor there is countless incidents of trespassers doing stupid things. Now imagine a situation where they are able to go up close to trains in the middle of a road.

      707 Operations run the excursions. Looks like going by their website there's no more excursions through Wycheproof this year but next year they've got one in May. Manangatang, Quambatook & Swan Hill all have tours operating before that one different lines.

    Melbourne has trams running in its streets. For drivers it’s about care and awareness. Not looking at your phone or putting on makeup while driving-that’s the safety risks. The things I see Melb drivers doing is unbelievable. Particularly women doing there hair and make up and talking on the phone

    my dad, who drove victorian trains used to tell us kids about wycheproof and koondrook. the koondrook line closed a long time ago. the rocky line is impressive. what is the third line you mentioned?

    • @MS_Trains
      @MS_Trains  Год назад +1

      Very cool. The kids were out for the 707Ops run through the main street, and they loved it. Be a different world growing up out in the country.
      The third line is a sugar cane railway in Queensland north of Cairns. I've seen footage from it before, but I believe trains are rare runners down the line.
