From September 16 through April 30, dogs are allowed on leash on the public beach at Salisbury Beach and on the beach at the Salisbury Beach State Reservation, according to the Department of Conservation and Recreation. From May 1 through September 15, dogs are not allowed on the public beach at Salisbury Beach or on the beach at the Salisbury Beach State Reservation, except for service animals. However, dogs are allowed on leash year round on the riverside of Salisbury Beach State Reservation, which is the sandy beach that runs along the bank of the Merrimack River. If you encounter one of the many seals that are known to frequent the riverside of Salisbury Beach State Reservation, please do not let your dog interact with it since both the dog and the seal can get hurt. Dogs and people are not allowed to swim in the Merrimack River though due to the strong currents of the river. Dogs are also allowed on leash year round at the campground at Salisbury Beach State Reservation. Both the public beach at Salisbury Beach and the beach on the reservation are state owned and visitors must abide by the rules and regulations established by the Department of Conservation and Recreation. I love the dogs! I also have a stroller and a front pack for my boy! I’m waiting to book Salisbury for August.
We go here every year. Just a great place to unwind! Dog friendly on the beach as well. Enjoy!
