    Having lived in Israel, I might comment on this remark in the paper: "The prevalence of the deficiency in Israel is similar to the prevalence found in less sunny regions." There is a reason for that. Israeli winters are its rain season, often dark and cloudy. Israelis don't get much sun then. Summers are extremely hot and dry. Except at the beaches, Israelis avoid it. Not much sun then either. I know. I did much the same. Once, hiking along a highway, I found myself crossing and recrossing the road to get a few moments of shade under trees. Conclusion: A sunny country does not guarantee high Vitamin D levels. What matters is how much time people spend in the sun.

    Thank you so much for highlighting this study! I am a massage therapist who worked saw 6 pts a day in a small unventilated room since May 2020 without catching covid. I took a couple class while in initial lockdown where I learned the importance of vitamin D. They also showed how zinc, curcumin, egcg and other nutrients could bind with ACE2 receptors and help block covid or at least reduce symptoms. This was all taught with the caveat that it was to help us protect ourselves "just until vaccines became available" of course, but When I read the trial data in the BMJ and saw that the Shots were only only going to be able to lower or prevent symptoms themselves I realized I would rather stick with the safer option of the vitamin D et cetera protocol. It may be of interest that I am also obese, over 50 years old, and already have an autoimmune disease and yetI have confirmed with antibody tests twice over the last few years that I have never contracted covid. All this time however I am scoffed at when I try to encourage people to raise their vitamin D levels even if they get the vaccine just to be extra safe. I am so thankful for people like you speaking up on this matter because maybe people will listen now.

      I’ve been taking vitamin D daily since 2015. I was diagnosed with MS in 2008 and didn’t start treatments, because I was doing well and couldn’t deal with injection side effects. Around 2014, I started getting weird symptoms of immune stress, like my hair was falling out, skin lesions, etc. I couldn’t work anymore because of the fatigue, so I spent my days researching things that could help me. I came across a study on vitamin D, similar to what he promotes here and had docs test my levels. Almost non-existent. So I began supplementing immediately. It took a few months, but I did start to feel better and hair started growing back and my skin cleared up. So I’ve supplemented religiously since. I have been following the rona since late November 2019, when I watched some RUclips videos on “flu in China”. Then when an optometrist noted it by messaging his colleagues on their message system, then suddenly disappeared, then couldn’t find the original videos I had watched on “a flu circulating China” as they’d been removed, then the doc resurfaced with a retraction to his statement made to colleagues, then ended up in ICU with the rona and passed away; I was deeply suspicious. To say the least. I told anyone that would listen about it, and all I got were eye rolls and “yeah yeah yeahs”, even my family told me I was taking it too seriously. So I upped my vitamin D levels, started excavating for a garden, stockpiling supplies and just lived my life. People wouldn’t even acknowledge that I warned them to be ready & that this was coming long before our government shut everyone down in the US. Sometimes, frequent worriers should be headed. I couldn’t have made a difference on a national scale, but I could’ve made one within my locality, if people had only listened.

      At 2:04, in the general population 77.5% of women and 79.2% of men are vitamin D deficient.
      At 8:47, 87.4% of patients with severe or critical disease had less than 20 ng/mL.
      So basically 77.5% - 79.2% of the population make up 87.4% of those with severe to critical disease while 20.8% - 22.5% of the population make up 12.6%.
      So about 88.15% -> 20.8% of severe illness while 21.15% -> 12.6% of severe illness. 12.6*88.15/21.15/20.8 = 2.52
      This means that increasing your Vitamin D reduces your risk of severe illness by a factor of 2.52, or by around 60.4%.

      There’s an article somewhere on google about a small uk study that found that people who have had many common colds in their life had a tendency to not catch covid despite being exposed . They said that’s because some common colds are also types of corona virus and thus likely provide some immunity . That could also be a factor along with vit D’s immune boosting properties . In the winter I take two 1000 IUs of D per day: The day they announced the first lockdown in 2020 i rode a crowded bus but didn’t get sick.

The idea that all governments - liberal and conservative, drug makers and non-drug makers - are all colluding to keep people from knowing the super secret is really quite absurd. Boris Johnson wanted to keep everything open. So did Trump. Do you really think they would have kept this secret so that it could benefit drug companies? I don't. There is no conspiracy here.I do think the Israeli study was interesting but I was disappointed that Dr Campbell did not address some of the methodological criticisms that have been made about it.

      So about 88.15% -> 20.8% of severe illness while 21.15% -> 12.6% of severe illness. 12.6*88.15/21.15/20.8 = 2.52

The patient would then go and buy 1000iu which was nowhere near enough to bring their levels up to standard thus keeping them deficient. 20,000,iu and over was needed to get the patient well, especially living up North, and not forgetting some people can have an absorption problem.

Be careful of the public transport system, buses and trains may look tidy but they are covered in germs, stay out of cinemas and crowded places in winter. Sydney gets cold in winter - recognise sick people / yourself , on a cold dark night as people travel back home you'll see most people rugged up , amongst them you'll see some striding along, coat open/ wearing little clothing - they hot and sick. The Japanese get more vitamin K2, but they tend to shun the sun, especially women. They eat more fish, but probably not enough (you would need to at least one serving every day and specifically fatty fish, and even more specifically salmon if it was only one serving; almost any other type of fish would require 2 to 3 or many more daily servings) to significantly raise vitamin D levels to adequate or higher, especially in the winter or fall. I'm not aware that there is much mandatory vitamin D fortification/supplementation in many of their foods like in Sweden. The Japanese are much less obese as a nation, so they require less vitamin D since there is less fatty tissue to distribute it to...

    • @arnesteinarson3645

      Japan is one of the few countries that does not have soaring levels of obesity. (Japan has less than 5% while US and UK has 25-40%).
      Also Japan has the oldest population in the world and a country like Brazil is on the younger spectrum of the scale. But Japan is still 18 times lower than Brazil in covid deaths per 100 000 population.
      All countries hit hard by covid has soaring levels of obesity and low levels of Vit D.
      Japan (and Korea) have very low death rates - showing that age (by itself) is not such a deciding factor. (I would say number of years lived in an unhealthy way adds up risk).

      So about 88.15% -> 20.8% of severe illness while 21.15% -> 12.6% of severe illness. 12.6*88.15/21.15/20.8 = 2.52
      This means that increasing your Vitamin D reduces your risk of severe illness by a factor of 2.52, or by around 60.4%.

I think it could help explain the massive obesity, diabetes , and high blood pressure issues with populations that consume large amounts of HFCS. Number 1 - I DO NOT know " Dr C" - that is the missing one for me - others may be missing some of the others.
      Number 2 - I know medcram (and have watched all their videos on SARS-Cov2 virus and the COVID-19 Disease - medcram is found with the search term medcram put into youtube).
      Number 3 - Do you mean Drbeen Medical Lectures.
      Number 4 - I was not aware of the FLCCC protocol - a search put into the google search engine - using the search term "FLCCC protocol" finds it so that one is covered well.

    Thanks John. The advice to be careful about Vitamin D deficiency has been consistent over the last couple of years, so it's good to hear recent confirmatory research. And it is certainly surprising that public advice about this has not been routinely given.
    I'm puzzled and annoyed, however, to find Vitamin D levels reported in guidelines and papers in two different ways. The Israeli paper, and your talk, use nanograms per millilitre (ng/mL), whereas here in Australia the measure reported is usually nanomoles per Litre (nmol/L). It's irritating that it is necessary to convert between these, but it is fortunately easy:
    To convert ng/mL to nmol/L, multiply by 2.5.
    To convert nmol/L to ng/mL, divide by 2.5.
    E.g., 30 ng/mL is 75 nmol/L.
    I hope that helps others.
