Being able to Force GOA portals not to spawn unless you have a specific key item would be cool. Makes it more like a zelda rando. (basically, needing specific items to progress to specific other areas, like needing mirror shield to do desert temple)

this is probably a weird one to suggest but maybe a "Item Hunter" one where proofs aren't necessary but maybe a set of items like maybe the mythril material or even just the lost and found illusions are just required to open the final gate. the only problem I see is the restriction requirements being screwed over.
I just find it funny that he changed the sad Roxas theme to a more casino-sounding fun theme (idk where it's from) just to make the fact that he is cheesing Roxas more palatable
a good idea that might not require dev time would be a "stipulation" generator for the rando, essentially it gives you a requirement as to where to go at the start, or something similar, so that your are required to route/path differently. I.e "start in STT. or complete x checks in x world first" or other things could be possible stips for example, i dont know what to put in the list since im not actively running the rando, but im sure other people could come up with better stips than i could
I don't get how the randomizer makers haven't implemented the hints actually in game, like just replace what the ansem reports normally say when you open them with the hint. Is there actually some super weird coding with the reports that make that not possible?
tbh I imagine it's because the public facing users (the tourney runners, for example) would literally never use that function. It could be neat for more casual rando players, but I can't speak to how reports are stored in the data (are they replaceable plaintext? hex? etc.) so don't know how difficult it would actually be.
I mean it would make more sense in a tourney setting assuming hints are on since there wouldn't be any external thing to show hints, you'd have to find them and read them in game which would be better at preventing cheating by just looking at the hint sheet or whatever it is they currently look at
I remember hearing that actually changing what the reports say in game would require modding the game itself (like how you would apply an English translation patch), and it isn't something you could do with just the .pnach file. So for every new rando, you'd have to generate and apply a new mod. It could be done, but it's kind of a pain.
Sounds vey weird that they can change the location of all items, chest sizes and bosses/enemies in event fights but can't change report text without additional work.
I'm not sure what's possible and easy to mod but how about randomizing which rooms are connected to which rooms? Like you try to go to Bazaar from the starting area in Agrabah and instead there's a Xigbar fight.
