Uh, there IS a change in the laws. Now youthful (under 26) offenders are granted parole. Which is what the resentencing would provide under those current guidelines. Did y'all even watch the press conference?

I agree with that, but I think it’s a lot more than that. They were badly sexually abused from at least age 6 or before. One of them I think Lyle, his father would hold his head, underwater and not let him come up for air when he needed to. I’m sure they were afraid every night that he was going to come in and do horrible things. I just think that sets up your mind, body and nervous system to live in constant fear and yes have repressed rage. Rightfully so. What they did wasn’t right, but when you grow up an environment like that with two very toxic dysfunctional parents, then how do you possibly have enough to get out?

    • @PneumaNoose
      @PneumaNoose 5 часов назад

@@lallen8131 ofc, no problem at all! So, to be specific, I work with prisoners and know exactly what real life prison is like-it’s absolute heII. These men have spent almost 30 years in that heII for committing a crime they did when their brains weren’t fully developed yet (on top of all the evidence that proves how abused they were by their parents). No one deserves to be murdered, but when you consider the toll prison takes on a human being, they’ve definitely paid their punishment debt to society (30 years inside is equivalent to roughly 90 years of aging on the mind and body on the outside). There’s many more details I can go into, but in a nutshell, they’ve paid for their crimes in the form of punishment (hence, they’ve paid their dues).
Furthermore, the goal of prison is to rehabilitate. They’ve proven to be very remorseful and wish they could have their parents back. They’ve matured so much since the murders. If they (or anyone) have proven to have changed, it is a disservice to society to keep them locked up. They cannot contribute to society in any way behind bars, but on the outside, they can earn a living and stop utilizing the tax dollars which are spent on them everyday (which mainly go to the rich who own the prisons as they are cash cows for big business). So it’s a great decision on many levels to release them as it benefits more than just the brothers.

@PneumaNoose I've been thinking what you said since this started a month or so ago. If that household was as dysfunctional as we've been hearing about, and considering their age, their behavior with the murders AND spending are learned behaviors. They have been working on themselves and helping others shows they have been rehabilitated. The Taxpayers money is going to their housing, college degrees, food, etc. Let them go and use the money to help those who really need it, and are willing to put in the work to rehabilitate. They are not a threat to society, and will probably contribute to society

Yeah, it's not that simple. They were mentally, emotionally and physically abused, not just sexually. Their entire lives were completely controlled all through childhood into young adulthood. It's no different than someone being kidnapped, held hostage and abused for many years. It's pretty normal for victims to not try to escape if given the opportunity. They're psychologically controlled and held prisoner by their captors, who use fear to control their victims. It's the exact same kind of trauma. Turning 18 doesn't magically set you free.

They killed their parents because they were pulling back on the funding of their lives. It’ was all about the money and nothing else. There was never any talk of sexual abuse at the time of the murders of their parents or their first trial. These accusations were leveled after the fact as a defensive ploy. It’s appalling to imagine that these monsters will even have a chance to be released. At the minimum, if the father was molesting these men, then why did they also viciously murder their mother? If they are released, IMO, it will be a travesty of justice.

Nobody can possibly understand unless they suffered that level of severe trauma for over 15 yrs!!! Also there was testimony about Kitty treating them awful, saying she hated them & proof she knew what Jose was doing to them!!! Kitty & Jose were monsters!! A majority of Jose & Kitty’s family members testified for them in the first trial & are advocating for their release!! Most of them knew but were all either benefiting from keeping quiet or were terrified of Jose & some were both!!! I will tell you as a sexual abuse survivor that if anyone would have touched one of my kids (all are adults now) I would have been facing prison!!! It literally makes me sick that their mother didn’t protect them & even allowed it to happen because she didn’t want to loose her status or her husband!!! I don’t believe they were remorseful then and I don’t believe they are remorseful now. To use the words redemption and rehabilitation in the same sentence as these murdering brothers, is absolutely ridiculous and I believe it’s happening because of the liberal justice system in place in California. Even if they were molested and abused, they still viciously murdered both of their parents, one of which was not abusive to them at all. They savagely killed their mother just as savagely as they killed their father. If we examine this case even more closely, it would be revealed that they were angry because their father cut them off financially and after their parents’ murder they had zero remorse…Instead, they went on spending sprees, which caused the police to look more closely at the brothers. If they walk free, it will be a travesty of justice and I’m surprised that their family has such a short memory for the real reasons these men killed their parents. It’s absolutely disgusting.

The brothers admitted (to Oziel I think) that they’d viewed the computer version of their dad’s Will AND that they’d seen a revision and tried themselves to then edit it.
Yes I followed the original case and trials and many observations and commentaries. The motive seemed more about Money and Crappy Parenting than anything else.

I totally disagree with Larry and he sounds kinda jelaous when he talked about his 10 years and getting out and the possibility the Menendez could get free. And Larry here we are not talking about a kinda "disagreement" between kids and parents. I experienced sexual abuse for almost 10 years when I was a kid and trust me I often thought about killing my stepfather but I never found the courage to do this. And even if they are financial fine they have to deal with their trauma from the abuse. You know what Larry? If you don't have to say something nice just keep quiet.

I dont like it when I hear they could have walked away anytime they wanted to… Easy to say for those that were not in that horrific situation. Million thoughts go through a human mind that’s being abused, and only those who lived it know.

@Vinnie. But what about all the other people in prison who were terribly abused in multiple ways? I believe the Menendez brothers should be out. But like I said what about all these other people that have seen their parents overdose, seen stabbings or shootings at a very young age and lived a very chaotic life, etc. Does this set a new precedent?

Holding them two brothers is not going to bring their parents back from the dead LET THEM GO!!.. they suffered sexual abuse when they were younger and now they're suffering in prison with no freedom just because they were rich does not mean that Mommy and Daddy was good to them 😏

VICTIMS! Society did not even OFFER them a way to escape their horrible situation and knowing their father was soon to kill them too! They really did not have any options if they wanted to spare their own lives! So HOPEFUL for this new development. They must be freed!

They got screwed over the second trial.
I hope if they have been rehabilitated that they get paroled…

    Hmmm…..🤔
    I wouldn’t say they’re suffering an injustice.
They did what they did - and boy ….HOW they did it.
But I think the second time they were shafted.
    .
I believe them about the abuse.
Now family of their parents agree that they should be resentenced.
Maxing out the appeals means nothing.
    I’m sorry to sound ignorant.
A person who is falsely accused can eventually max out the appeals. No?
The other day I was looking at witch trials……the justice system is as flawed as the humans that built it.
    .
The brothers are homicidal criminals. No question.
    However -
Had they been allowed to use the abuse in the second trial. They would probably be out now.
    .
    .
    Context is paramount .
