Black dude looks and sounds like a GTA character.Like imagine another Chinatown Wars where you've been sent to Moscow and you play as Freddie.Then there's a mission and a cutscene where you meet the black dude and he talks to you about Russian society and what the city is like.That would be the first cutscene in the game and he becomes your ally and a main character for the rest of the game.

I was never really a huge Eddie fan until this series. I'm digging his flashy style and sense of humor. I stand by a lot of what he says about culture. Good episode.

Never been to Russia. I'm only speaking on the Russians in Brooklyn and what I've read - although the culture seems to be the same. They can be very cold and depressing looking on the outside. Russia is a physically cold place and it has a brutal history. The culture as a result has a cold depressing aspect to it. When Russian people get together and open up I found that they are very embracing and happy people. They're very heartfelt and unified. You need to understand that their lives progress through this brutal cold and it has an effect on their culture and character. Read some Tolstoy too. Russian culture is fire. I think they have a habit of being suspicious of outsiders though. There is a lot of machismo in Russian culture. It does not seem like Eddie was fully embraced in this instance. He's usually very good at that everywhere he goes.
As an American that actually understands a lot of Russian, I’m curious as to why you think “there’s a lot of machismo”? The media? They have, for example, the highest percentage of women in STEM by nearly 20% above the next place (The UK). The unelected government is very sexist, but it’s not my observation that common people are nearly half like that at all.
It’s also my observation that they’re also quite funny and quirky. They’re always portrayed in a cliche, stupid and one-sided way in the media.

Love this show. We underestimate the importance of the humanities and anthropology within a capitalistic framework. Plus its funny and includes bodily functions.
I'll never understand why countries outside of the US feel refreshing and clean.. almost pure. I've been all over the USA and traveled to many other countries and they feel like a different world. Nearly all major cities in America feel oppressive and lonely, no matter the size or location. It's the lack of community in almost every state and I pity the people who never see life outside of it. I love America but everyone deserves to see the world before they die.

Fedyay the context of what they were saying definitely sounded racist. Ravinn w he adds a disclaimer at the end which i felt really tied it all together, saying that just because you hear something like that, doesn't mean you should judge a whole nation of people based on an isolated example. I thought the fact that he added that at the end was really cool, and a think that many shows would be willing do give you that rounded of a perspective.

Thank you for mentioning the blatant ignorance and self hate that the young black guy is promoting. I happened upon one of his videos and I was heartbroken to hear so much self hate and hate for black women being blurted from his mouth. For some, his viewpoint will become legitimized because they have no source of truthful information regarding his own people. With that said, as a non-white American that actually comprehends Russian, I also don’t like the guy. You know why? Because he literally spreads a bunch of bullshit about Russians and Russia too and those of us who can comprehend the language, know this. I suppose he does it for RUclips views and to get on shows like this one, since this narrative sells in the west and stems from the Cold War. I’ve heard many African-Americans, Afro-Latinos and Africans who have lived in Russia and their narrative is very different to this guys and it’s not because they’re self-hating black people, but because unlike this guy, they’re not out to try and get views on RUclips and want to let the world know that most Russians aren’t the “evil” and closed minded people they’re portrayed to be in the media. They don’t have an ulterior agenda - want attention complex.
My observation is that a lot of Russians know the “n” word is racist and will not say it at all. Of the ones who do, if you listen to them in Russian, and look at their body language, it’s obvious they don’t realize it’s a racist word and why it’s a racist word - they’ll say it with almost a tone of endearment. I do agree that if there is any one of them that says it, he should let them of course know why it’s considered a racist word that stems back from Western European colonialism.
There are far more Russians who would deeply think those two guys are assholes then agree with them, but that doesn’t get you views in the west. It’s normal western media practice to magnify the assholes in Russia, omit all the good people there and then pretend we can’t find people like that (assholes) here in the USA and Europe.
