- In part one of Huang's World: London, Eddie heads to Brick Lane, a historic enclave in East London that's home to Turks, Jews, and now Bengalis, where he chows down on some tikka masala with a British twist. He then tries his hand at a game of cricket with a Pakistani cricket league and digs into the effects of British colonization and institutionalized Islamophobia in London.

Cant believed I watched Huang’s World when I was 12 years old
Eddie is a very enlightened, humble dude and I've grown to respect him and love the shit he does.
Hey I love your pure honesty, your nervousness, innocence , and rhe way you bring it to the camera with a hip hop realism! This keeps the show authentic!
THEY LEFT ALL THAT FOOD ON THE FUCKING TABLE? HELL NO, GIMME A DOGGY BAG, IM TAKING THAT SHIT BACK HOME
+youtubeyoutubeyoutube eddie aint a real chinese yo, ain't no azn waste food like dat
l2noob4ul hahaha so true
+youtubeyoutubeyoutube facts ....wtf
+youtubeyoutubeyoutube the crew eats it
if they crew eats ...makes sense then
Huang's World has became my favorite program on youtube, very inspiring and positive, thank you and keep it up~!
I lived in London for five years and I went a normal academy in London where 75% of the students were Muslim, now my family is mainly Christian but the thing is, I never saw any problem whatsoever, I haven't watched part two or part three yet but I hope he goes to harrow road and sees all of the Muslim culture I mean north west London is just full of culture; Jamaicans and Muslims. it would be really interesting to see what his point of view was on there.
I think some of y'all in the comment section are forgetting what this show is about. Eddie checks out the places not known to the masses. Like the Persian community is Los Angeles. Of course episodes like Detroit are going to show the all around perspective. Cause it's a fucked up city that isn't covered enough. But London? .. C'mon, I think a good enough chunk of London has been covered enough on these food shows.
Uh.... I am pakistani british, this episode kind of overexaggerates things... London, and british people in general, are amazingly tolerant and open minded, I've almost never experienced any form of racism.
Batmani that is not what all people of color in england experience. your experience is valid but you don't speak for everyone.
paranoiac_ I know, but still, it just isn't this 'unsafe' or intolerant as this video seems to show
+Batmani good to hear that from a pakistani. im from scotland near glasgow and we have intolerant white people and just as many intolerant people of ethnic minoritys but on the whole both sides are tolerant of each other, respect each other and inegrate with one another free of problem. ive only ever once known the indian boy in my year at primary school to have been disrepected racially once and the person who done it was made a example of to show it wasnt accepted. he probably got it more but shows how rare it was. in secondary there was many more people from different decent and maybe/probably had it worse there but it was never a issue as ive had indian friends and would know. if anything the indiana and pakistanis where i stay are racist towards eachother more than any other ethnic races. like to say again this is where im from i cant speak for other areas
***** Almost everyone in this world are -to some extent- undercover racists... IT doesnt matter, just as long as they dont show it.
***** Never said everyone thinks about race all the time.. Da hell?
I don't think there's anything wrong with speaking any language with sophistication and a respect for the proper grammar, etc. Whether that's English, Chinese, or Arabic. Being able to express oneself in an articulated manner is something that every human being should strive for.
always learn the language if you are gonna move to another country. i know so many people with parents that cant speak swedish yet they have lived her for almost 30 years.
My mother moved from ghana and learned the language under a year and got a job 3 month after moving to sweden.
that's because your mom is awesome!
that also depends on how old they are and what history they have in education, or other things, we live in Australia and it's extremely hard for my mother to learn English because she had never been to a school in Afg during the war and stuff. Different for every other family, but it is good to learn the language.
nyeeezy That's actually amazing to hear. Is the media blowing things up when they say Sweden is on fire, and white peope are being attacked as Sharia Law is fought for? Im not being a dick. I'm legit asking a you because you see this first hand...Is the military about to step in, or is it all hysteria?
Tommy s Yes it's all complete bs. Sweden is fine, probably one of the safer countries in the world
@@1mbam4n hahahah you must be blind people are getting killed and beheaded every god damn day, media dont write about it. get ur head out of ur ass
Check out Eddie chow down on some tikka masala with a British twist.
I love it
Munchies Heyy,, I have already watched this episode before. are you reposting it again or did you add new episodes? thank you.
Jigme Gurung Vice made a channel dedicated to food called munchies and changed VICE to just news.
I've been enjoying Huang's World on VICE TV...really cool and interesting!
This is what RUclips is all about the people are becoming famous from just the same as TV it's great :-) love this channel
This is bullshit. I have been bullied by Pakistanis when I was living in "their" area during University. It swings both ways. I have had the good fortune of travelling around the world through work and you meet good and bad ppl everywhere, fortunately mostly good. Stop moaning, learn to respect people for what they are. I watch Munchies and Huang's channel all the time, but this really pissed me off. The race card has been played too many times get a fucking grip on the fact that we are all connected on this planet. Respect what Huang is doing, integrating people through food and good times.
I need to stop watching these when im hungry
Great episode - this is my city!!
It's funny the US/UK terminology. In the UK, people generally refer to Asians as people from the Indian sub-continent whereas Asians in the US mostly refers to people from the Far East / SE Asia.
The table seating scene had me in stiches! Huang is right those - who sits NEXT to the person they're having dinner with????
+The Cat Yeah it's interesting, I'm from Germany and when I heard "Asian" I was surprised to see an Indian. It's weird, cause India is of course part of Asia as well but somehow it's always refered to as its own thing.
Fun fact, chicken tikka masala was invented at the Shish Mahal in Glasgow. The chef was running low on a curry sauce and added a can of Heinz cream of tomato soup and the rest is history.
I'm at the Famous Curry Bazaar right now! Thank you Vice/Eddie Huang for the recommendation, best birthday ever!
As a white British male, the people in the video have a point Muslims do get treat different in the UK most white Brits are terrified, they put the put the actions of a few onto an whole people. We still have a long way to go
Would you stop saying "Muslim"...Muslim is a religion NOT a race or a culture. Islam is a religion. Muslims means people who follow Islam. Just like Christianity is a religion. And Christians mean people who follow Christianity religion. These people in the video are South Asians such as Indians and Pakistanis. They are showing their "British Indian culture" and "British Pakistani culture"..This has nothing to do with Islam or being a Muslim.
i love how REAL this was.
I remember watching this episode... sweetness
It interesting to see how it is through someone elses eyes. Living in London, the tension has definitely shifted from blacks to Indians/muslims. Its not nice or good the way in which people are sometimes treated. The media should definitely show everyone in a better light.
anyone notice Eddie's Buddha necklace is in his shirt when he is in the mosque? @7:49
+euphoriassy bloom out of respect.
Learning the language is not colonisation or imperialism, it's integration. Any country expects it.
Wicked Pakistani food at Tayaab's
Eddie is the man
I like how son is holding you man picture lmao like he really trying to sell that mixtape
+Steven Sanchez lmao trueee
YO WHY THEY LEAVIN ALL THAT FOOD IM MAD HUNGRY FAM
TONKOTSU666 yup
Playing cricket at Loughton cricket field. Grew up there.
Tayyab's my favorite restaurant in London!
Great video and series! Love London.
Dude u need to go to China town and had chicken buns, the shop is in a small street next to a big red Chinese supermarket. Doesn't have a name but it is a small counter normally a girl behind it but the buns are amazing.
Chinese pork buns can be amazing, I found decades ago in NYC. I enjoyed talking to the older woman in there doing the cooking in that hole in the wall when it was slow. Her English was very bad but she happily showed me what she made for her children and family, such as cakes and things. All in a big wok. I've had some Chinese-American friends and coworkers and some clients, too, and it was interesting to hear what they valued and how they thought. I enjoyed ALL my Chinese university students here in France where I've lectured. Outstanding.
love the intro Eddie!
1:30 Whats really interesting is what he said about the seating arrangements.
Dee Lee was a weird move
2:58, why did he leave the orange juice! I'm shaking right now.
my man thats mango lassi
Food is the easiest way to understand a culture. For most people, they may not want to understand your language, religion or values, but you put a good food in front of them and they want to eat it. Eddie Huang
I can always jam to his intro
"Let's find someone without an agenda." Proceeds to talk to a journalist....
Loughton(essex) cricket clubs like 15 miles from brick lane just saying
Asian in Britain is different then Asian I the States.
The Bengalis are here!!!
Dang Eddie, Im trying to use this video for my social club in Shanghai and here you go with 'I'll put a cork in my ass" I am NOT explaining that to my class. lawwwddd!!! T_T
+HelloBelle LOL
He didn't wanna let go of that photo did he!
these are just old episodes of fresh off the boat....
When will you guys visit Malaysia?
You went to Bricklane and didn't have a bagel? They're the epitome of multicultural Britain and Bricklane
Brick lane was originally an English area in the 1400s, Jews didn't move there until the late 19th century , English are being written out of the history of the city they built
they built? the English are a mx of different invaders and immigrants to the island. you are an idiot. England is for everyone. If the white English mix with the blacks, Indians, Chinese, etc, etc... it does not matter. they would just be evolving the English as a species.
Man, it's weird to see people leave a table with that much food on it still. I know it's a production and all but damn.
What's the name of the restaurant at the end? Does anybody know?
What's the name of the song that starts at :47?
Getting mine by Tidus
Love this episode, represents the beautiful area i live in so well. Tayyabs is amazing btw
Key words . 🤗the game is harmle$$
Its just the peeps that are playing it. Eddie haung!
That guy in the beginning was awesome
i don't know if its an american thing but i notice you guys always just say 'I'll get the...' when you order and don't ever say please or thank you. why is that?
Much respect
Good old Indian food you don't need an alarm clock with a vindaloo
Eddie H. thorough
you see the Starks jersey!
Its that guy that did comedy while on acid
Ok so Tayyabs in Aldgate, the restaurant their in at 11m is f*cking AMAZING
London's just not London anymore. Cool for tourism, but I feel bad for the folks who grew up there.
Totally agree man, lived there 2 years, had to leave
***** What's wrong with London?
Karl Glenn It's not original anymore. Just a (excuse my language bud) clusterfuck of 3rd world immigrants who are now the majority. Used to be so nice and culturally profound... Not anymore. Same goes with other European cities like Brussels for example.
+Angry Canadian It's better that way.
David Andrews Why? Nothing wrong with Britain. Used to be a great Kingdom before this shit happened
what is the song that plays at 5:20?
is fresh of the boat based on him
Eddie HATES the series "Fresh off the Boat", because it distorted his storyline to make it palatable for the general U.S> Public...He REFUSED TO ENDORSE THE TV SERIES. GOOGLE HIS COMMENTS ON THE SHOW.
The camera operator def needs a pair of glasses. The focus is way off and annoying in some scenes. :)
man you should have called ,i live in london .all about that spices.namaste
0:16 ZYWIEC in the window sill gotta love the poles
wait a sec... at the begining in the restoran there was a guy who was on comedy show on acid ???
Are Indians in GB cheap like in the US?
That restaurant looked really fancy.
If you eat in an Indian restaurant in Scotland you’re probably spending around £20 per person between a starter and main course (and maybe one drink). That works out around 2 or 3 hours wages for the average person.
London may be more expensive but I think the 2/3 hours relative wages stays the same regardless of where you are.
2:25 Holy shit, I thought it was Gordon Ramsay for second.
That's exactly how I eat, I'm Hispanic and i also eat with my hands and tortillas (:
Well everyone who eats with a tortilla eats with there hands
DEOK THE PROLIFIK WUN
Yeah but we are the originals, Dating back to pre-columbus
I was about to point that out lol!
watching munchies makes me realize how shit my life is
I'm with you
Dude this guy did a poor Job as a fixer. Im from london and from what you've shown me. You did not see a good side of it... comeback to LONDON.
I know this comment is old as fuck but I'd rather see this than the 100 other shows that show only the "good side" of London. Can't always show the best side of a city, especially a top city in the world. Everyone would think that London is full of hoity toity white folks that have a stick up their ass instead of a diverse group of people in both ethnicity and socioeconomic status.
Every top city needs to show the grittier parts of it. Like NYC and LA travel shows as well as the films/tv show the grittier parts all the time to counter the glitzy, upper class portions that are portrayed too often.
track id in the intro?
love this series but Eddie is very anti-white/British in this. there are far more non racist whites in london than racists but vice onbnnly wants to promote the colonialist aspect of the city. very one sided ad im disapointed in the lack of objectivity.
Habit Music youre a white person arent you
yeah. and?
Habit Music It's rather annoying that when he goes to most other non-white countries he tries to get to the "roots", yet when he comes to the UK he tosses the roots and just looks for immigrant places it seems.
I defended him on a lot of the others for his roots-based approach, but the fact he's so deliberately selective about it... yea, pretty fucked.
+Bob Papadopoulos he played cricket, what more do you want from a big fat american bigot
+Habit Music I agree, i'm a foreigner living in London and this was a bunch of non objective bullshit for sure. I mean i understand these people that were talking, it must be very hard to be living in London, when there are still women that are walking the streets with their faces uncovered to the public eye and only one third of the city looking like Bangladesh.
man those beats :D rly like to know the track at 9.30 !!
vice need to hire him a wardrobe assistant, people cant take him serious wearing tiger skin and basketball jerseys.
“In cricket there’s no motherfuckers!”
is he dead?
I hope y'all boxed that curry up to go.
Jesus christ. It doesnt matter where you live. You should learn the language of the land at a basic level.
+Woah Dude This. It's a fucking common sense thing. If I was going to move to another country, I would expect to need to learn their language in order to FUNCTION ON A BASIC LEVEL, YOU MORONS. lol
+Woah Dude That makes alot of assumptions. ie Why they came here, under what terms they came here, how long they've been here, level of education etc.
Josh R.
That does not change the fact that common sense dictates that it would be a necessity to at least learn enough of another country's language to FUNCTION.
Would you seriously go to say, Italy, and be mad that no one spoke English? It's literally no different.
LiquidDIO Plenty of expats live in other countries without speaking the language. I've lived in several non English speaking countries with many Americans who only knew English. I know more than one language but it's impossible for me to learn the language of every place i've been besides basic words. Also for example a refugee running for his life from a third world country has had neither the prior education or opportunities to learn the language and no knowledge of how long they would be in the country.
+Woah Dude No shit. If I moved to Pakistan, I'd have to make an attempt to learn the language. It doesn't mean I have to stop being an American, or a San Diegan culturally, but it's a gesture of respect, and it's required to get ahead in a foreign land.
Lmaoo that Aaron Hernandez joke at the end didn’t hold its value
They barely ate any of those curries
"You don't have to go long all the time" Your girl said different...
assed baig is really played by John Travolta...
So a quick google of their MBE holder and he doesn't have one.
Viv does he not I look him up and the articles he was featured in said bashir chaudhry MBE article here (www.rbs.com/rbs/news/2014/03/inspiring-youth-enterprise-grant-funding-winners-announced.html) still unclear though.
What the fuckk do they do with all the left over food?? wdf?
+Chialova Thinking the exact same thing! haha
the camera crew eats it.
what the fuck is going on munchies? this is a game changer as far as me watching this series goes, in the sense that i won't be watching shit like this much longer. Fucking brutal.
Ugh now it makes me sick to see them walk away from a table FULL of food, I love Eddie and know he's just doing his job,.... but OMG I'd kill for some takeout boxes from him and his guests.
What they rarely show in shows like this is the crew eating too. Same case here too I guess.
These comments are out of control......
eddie is real .keep it that way
Assed baig, did anyone else catch that name lol.
Nice video but I think Huang is approaching with a pretty heavy agenda as if race relations are identical in the UK and US. Not as overt in the UK and on the whole i feel the majority of people are very accepting of other cultures
the worst 3 Indian men he could have interviewed in the whole of London.
it would be cool to see some actual food bruh
The Jews went up to North London. Get real Josh ain't no Jews there, no matter how much you'd want them to be.
Eddies a fucking savage
Huang is a fkn cool guy! :D
vice whats. . ...going on with this show? 10% food 90% fuckery?
All my London pals instagram their food and it'll show lots of sausages/meats, beans, chips (fries) & shitty looking pizza. I don't think one of them have ever taken a picture of their indian food in London. Will definitely ask about this indian cuisine thats apparently taking or taken over London.
+page1234567 um, Indian food has been the most popular since the 60's, it's not new in anyway.
Anybody know the song at ruclips.net/video/eUpp2HaDtkY/видео.html?
(White guy frm London) Bro how you gunna come to london and juice up the pakistani muslim racist situation like that? Its unfortunatly existant in our culture sure, but...the most prevelant factor is different races and cultures get along in london, more than they are stigmatised by each other. You just hear about the bad alot more, because reports/shows are always written with an eye on the negative rather than the positive. You had an opportunity to spin it from a different angle and spread some positivity about the merging of the two cultures. Instead you went for hyping up the hate train. I like your vibe as a presenter, but im totally dissapointed with this episode.
Cricket!
