  • In part one of Huang's World: London, Eddie heads to Brick Lane, a historic enclave in East London that's home to Turks, Jews, and now Bengalis, where he chows down on some tikka masala with a British twist. He then tries his hand at a game of cricket with a Pakistani cricket league and digs into the effects of British colonization and institutionalized Islamophobia in London.

I lived in London for five years and I went a normal academy in London where 75% of the students were Muslim, now my family is mainly Christian but the thing is, I never saw any problem whatsoever, I haven't watched part two or part three yet but I hope he goes to harrow road and sees all of the Muslim culture I mean north west London is just full of culture; Jamaicans and Muslims. it would be really interesting to see what his point of view was on there.

I think some of y'all in the comment section are forgetting what this show is about. Eddie checks out the places not known to the masses. Like the Persian community is Los Angeles. Of course episodes like Detroit are going to show the all around perspective. Cause it's a fucked up city that isn't covered enough. But London? .. C'mon, I think a good enough chunk of London has been covered enough on these food shows.

Uh.... I am pakistani british, this episode kind of overexaggerates things... London, and british people in general, are amazingly tolerant and open minded, I've almost never experienced any form of racism.

+Batmani good to hear that from a pakistani. im from scotland near glasgow and we have intolerant white people and just as many intolerant people of ethnic minoritys but on the whole both sides are tolerant of each other, respect each other and inegrate with one another free of problem. ive only ever once known the indian boy in my year at primary school to have been disrepected racially once and the person who done it was made a example of to show it wasnt accepted. he probably got it more but shows how rare it was. in secondary there was many more people from different decent and maybe/probably had it worse there but it was never a issue as ive had indian friends and would know. if anything the indiana and pakistanis where i stay are racist towards eachother more than any other ethnic races. like to say again this is where im from i cant speak for other areas

I don't think there's anything wrong with speaking any language with sophistication and a respect for the proper grammar, etc. Whether that's English, Chinese, or Arabic. Being able to express oneself in an articulated manner is something that every human being should strive for.

  • @nyeeezy

always learn the language if you are gonna move to another country. i know so many people with parents that cant speak swedish yet they have lived her for almost 30 years.
My mother moved from ghana and learned the language under a year and got a job 3 month after moving to sweden.

that also depends on how old they are and what history they have in education, or other things, we live in Australia and it's extremely hard for my mother to learn English because she had never been to a school in Afg during the war and stuff. Different for every other family, but it is good to learn the language.

This is bullshit. I have been bullied by Pakistanis when I was living in "their" area during University. It swings both ways. I have had the good fortune of travelling around the world through work and you meet good and bad ppl everywhere, fortunately mostly good. Stop moaning, learn to respect people for what they are. I watch Munchies and Huang's channel all the time, but this really pissed me off. The race card has been played too many times get a fucking grip on the fact that we are all connected on this planet. Respect what Huang is doing, integrating people through food and good times.

It's funny the US/UK terminology. In the UK, people generally refer to Asians as people from the Indian sub-continent whereas Asians in the US mostly refers to people from the Far East / SE Asia.

Would you stop saying "Muslim"...Muslim is a religion NOT a race or a culture. Islam is a religion. Muslims means people who follow Islam. Just like Christianity is a religion. And Christians mean people who follow Christianity religion. These people in the video are South Asians such as Indians and Pakistanis. They are showing their "British Indian culture" and "British Pakistani culture"..This has nothing to do with Islam or being a Muslim.

Chinese pork buns can be amazing, I found decades ago in NYC. I enjoyed talking to the older woman in there doing the cooking in that hole in the wall when it was slow. Her English was very bad but she happily showed me what she made for her children and family, such as cakes and things. All in a big wok. I've had some Chinese-American friends and coworkers and some clients, too, and it was interesting to hear what they valued and how they thought. I enjoyed ALL my Chinese university students here in France where I've lectured. Outstanding.

If you eat in an Indian restaurant in Scotland you’re probably spending around £20 per person between a starter and main course (and maybe one drink). That works out around 2 or 3 hours wages for the average person.
London may be more expensive but I think the 2/3 hours relative wages stays the same regardless of where you are.

I know this comment is old as fuck but I'd rather see this than the 100 other shows that show only the "good side" of London. Can't always show the best side of a city, especially a top city in the world. Everyone would think that London is full of hoity toity white folks that have a stick up their ass instead of a diverse group of people in both ethnicity and socioeconomic status.
Every top city needs to show the grittier parts of it. Like NYC and LA travel shows as well as the films/tv show the grittier parts all the time to counter the glitzy, upper class portions that are portrayed too often.

LiquidDIO Plenty of expats live in other countries without speaking the language. I've lived in several non English speaking countries with many Americans who only knew English. I know more than one language but it's impossible for me to learn the language of every place i've been besides basic words. Also for example a refugee running for his life from a third world country has had neither the prior education or opportunities to learn the language and no knowledge of how long they would be in the country.

+Woah Dude No shit. If I moved to Pakistan, I'd have to make an attempt to learn the language. It doesn't mean I have to stop being an American, or a San Diegan culturally, but it's a gesture of respect, and it's required to get ahead in a foreign land.

What they rarely show in shows like this is the crew eating too. Same case here too I guess.

Nice video but I think Huang is approaching with a pretty heavy agenda as if race relations are identical in the UK and US. Not as overt in the UK and on the whole i feel the majority of people are very accepting of other cultures

All my London pals instagram their food and it'll show lots of sausages/meats, beans, chips (fries) & shitty looking pizza. I don't think one of them have ever taken a picture of their indian food in London. Will definitely ask about this indian cuisine thats apparently taking or taken over London.

(White guy frm London) Bro how you gunna come to london and juice up the pakistani muslim racist situation like that? Its unfortunatly existant in our culture sure, but...the most prevelant factor is different races and cultures get along in london, more than they are stigmatised by each other. You just hear about the bad alot more, because reports/shows are always written with an eye on the negative rather than the positive. You had an opportunity to spin it from a different angle and spread some positivity about the merging of the two cultures. Instead you went for hyping up the hate train. I like your vibe as a presenter, but im totally dissapointed with this episode.
