One of the most beautiful love songs ever written and performed! It seems like 1971 was yesterday, how did we get to 2023 so fast!? We were young and innocent with our whole life ahead of us, where has the time gone!?😢
To all the wonderful memories and amazing days we thought would last forever!❤

I met the most beautiful girl I ever saw as a senior in highschool she was in tenth grade. But I was married and not happy. Well I blew it and only saw her a few times over the past 50 years. I was playing our song, save it for me by the four seasons and I left a comment about her 6 weeks ago. I was in a deep depression and on my way to the end of life. Somehow she knew in her heart I needed help and placed an APB online and my little brother saw it and called me then a friend of mine sent her my phone number and she called me. I was so nervous but I went to see her and as I rounded a curve in her driveway I saw her and I was instantly in love all over again and we are together now and forever. It amazes me that she kept me in her heart all those years and still loves me like nothing else in the world and I love her like nothing I can explain.

This excellent song is one of those which proves why music in the seventies of last Century was so good. Not only is it very well sung and played with real feeling but the voices of the singers are convincing and one feels they are saying just what they feel. And the harmonica adds a nice touch. One of those timeless tunes that are good to hear anytime anyplace whenever one has time to do it.

This one is one of the best love songs which describes our sensations whilst sharing intimacy without recurring to vulgarity. What spoils so many songs today is the vulgar horrible words they use. Not so with this song which is tender sounding and with good English. And the sexy voices of the singers make one feel they really mean what they say.

@@shiroibasketshoes Thanks for sharing your thoughts and so glad you discovered this memorable song just two years ago. I was 17 when this song came out in 1970 and it was a HUGE hit not only in this country but in other countries, also. Like you, I am also "a hopeless romantic" and have known a couple of wonderful women in my life but never married. Glad you found the original album that had this song. (The "B"-side of the "Stay Awhile" 45 record was another fine song called "Sing A Song Of Freedom" which should have also been released as a single and I think it is also on the original album you have.)

@@DougCeleste Thank you for the nice reply. I don’t know why I apparently never heard “Stay Awhile” on the AM / pop / oldies stations growing up; it reached #7 here in the US. I was 6 when it came out and my parents weren’t giving me radio to listen to yet. I’m glad you found a couple of wonderful women. I’ve never married either. Wikipedia indicates “Sing a A Song Of Freedom” was never a single, but is on my album. I think every song I’ve heard of my The Bells is great. My The Bells “Fly, Little White Dove, Fly” album I found at a collector’s shop was still sealed, though with a cutout corner. I want to buy more The Bells music if I can find the records in good enough condition. I never was able to get a CD of them but I plan to try again. I also have albums of The Bells member Frank Mills. I promoted “Stay Awhile” twice on my social media, using halves of the song and changing lyrics to be between a rabbit and model dressed as a cat…I wish I could show you, but I think youtube doesn’t like links or mention of the name of my social media.

@@shiroibasketshoes GREAT reply and thanks for sharing! I received my transistor radio as a Christmas gift in 1964 (the year you were born) when I was just 11 and OMG, that present from my dear parents that cost only a couple of bucks turned out to be the most priceless and influential gift of my lifetime! I hope your parents also gave you one as a gift when you got older. I have been listening to this memorable song from 1970 more and more in the past week or two and it gives me goosebumps since I appreciate and love it more now and it brings back so many nice memories of that time for me when I was a senior in high school in San Jose, CA. which was where I was born and raised. Glad you found the album sealed and I assume it is in stereo. "Sing A Song Of Freedom" was another song I liked from the album but "Stay Awhile" is The Bells' "Signature Song" that they will be most remembered for. I should try to listen to their other songs. Finally, Frank Mills left the group before "Stay Awhile" became a hit. Rock on!

Although released 48 years ago this song is still great to hear as it makes me remember how being in love when one is young is. One quivers from emotion when sharing intimacy with one's lover as the song says. And that feeling of our spirit leaving partially our body and getting entangled with that of our lover is something worth to remember.

I finally found this theme so sought after by me and so representative of a beautiful time that passed. Although it was not heard much in Argentina, it struck me as soon as I heard it for the first time and I recorded it to listen to it a thousand times later. How well sung, how well interpreted, what magnificent lyrics, everything with subtlety, delicate, nothing tawdry. Describe and paint a great love scene in the way we have experienced it when we were young. (I am now 72) Since those years I have not heard him again, despite searching for him by land and sea, because I did not know his name. Luckily today, he became part of my life again

I was a freshman in college. I am a Christian and dated a Jewish girl. This was our song. I love the way it was broken in 4 ways the first verse was the woman's voice. The second verse was the man's turn. The third part was just the harmonica. Like lovers at time she speaks, other times its the male and there are moments when there's silence and then you both whisper words of love together. The 4th verse they both sing together. Like college me and Phyllis and Judy Klein were close then Fran Greenfield. We knew that at the end of 4 years we would go our separate ways. Back in the early 70s we were rebellious when it came to friendships with people outside your religion or race but few ended in lifelong lasting relationships but the memories are priceless and forever. Like the song about :45 seconds each verse for a perfect 3:00 minute song that may be over but the memory of it lasts a lifetime 🎶 ❤
P.S. I found the girl of my dreams in my early 60s and she was in her late 50s. We are both Christians and have both mixed racial backround with White and Native American. She said she dreamt of meeting someone that looked like me as a little girl. I found the love of a lifetime. We both love this song and put ourselves into this storyline. We have been together 7 lucky years. It shows that some things are worth waiting for. 👨 👩 🎶 🙏 ❤

The sexy way in which the girl whispers "I guess I am gonna stay" at the end of the song is a very nice touch to this love song. The whole song sounds spontaneous with nothing forced as if sung by someone who is simply expressing her and his feelings. Because of that it is a beautiful song really it reaches the top effortlessly and manages to stay there despite the forty four years that have gone since it was released.

I like the spontaneous way the singers sing this song which describes those deep feelings in intimacy many of us like me have
felt when being with our lover, without recurring to vulgarity or profanity. Beautiful and elegantly performed with just nice clean language.

One of those beautiful songs which trascend the time in which they were performed. Timeless really this is still good to hear and enjoy. The voices of both singers are so natural and sexy one feels they really mean what they are saying. One of my favorites of all time.

Not only a very good song very well sung by the sensual singers but the harmonica adds to it a special sexy touch too. One of my favorites since I rediscovered it here. I wonder why can't we have popular music like this now when everything is just noise and endless repetitions of the same thing over and over.

LOVE this video and the lyrics! Thanks for sharing, Rachel! It was 1970 and I was a senior in high school in San Jose, CA. when this VERY romantic song came out with the most passionately sung voices I have EVER heard in a song! I also LOVE the soft and mellow background music, especially the harmonica, which greatly adds to the beauty of this memorable song. OMG, it seems like only yesterday when I was that young teen looking for romance like in this song. 💋💋

Although performed forty plus years ago this song is always up to date as love is eternal really. I might be old now but my children are young and may pass through experiences like the song says whilst I remember them. One of the most beautiful songs describing intimacy I have ever heard with decent nice words and no vulgarity.

"Creo que me quedaré contigo un ratito" Excelente canción en realidad.

Beautiful song which describes feelings and sensations just as they are and with the sexy voices of the singers which transmit feeling as they sing the song is great.
