My father did the exact same thing, he is still alive but we haven't been in contact for a while. He was an alcoholic parent. I had a dream last night that I called him and he couldn't remember who I was anymore, and my sister said in that dream that his diabetes is at a deadly level (he has diabetes truly). Balled my eyes out. But I remembered that alzheimer or demented people still remember songs (he is not actually demented or have alzheimer's), so in my dream I thought I could sing this and he would remember and I could have my last contact with my father.

There is a cover of this song in our language.The cover song is so good and the lyrics are so amazing.The cover song is about two people who are in love in the university but they broke up when they graduated.But they still both love each other and are missing each other.The cover songs also contains how beautiful and peaceful their university is and about the places they had been together when they are still university students.That song is so beautiful and such a masterpiece.The composer who is also the male singer of the cover song ( because the cover is a couple song ) is such a genius and he is one of the greatest composers and singers of his times. Now he has passed away.I never thought that song is a cover.The original version is such a masterpiece too.There is a time in our country that the composers and the bands made cover versions of the famous songs in U.S. and U.K..But the cover version are so great and although the lyrics are different ( some may be the same ) , they do not ruin the original taste of the version.I think the famous singers in U.S. do the same things too.They also made cover of the original song.
