  • This mid weight, ground floor six sound really nice from such an early casting. They are partnered with a huge draught which makes the bells rather flighty and somewhat difficult to handle if you don’t keep a straight rope. The tail ends on each rope are longer than usual, mainly so that a coil can be made by the ringer in order to help with the Devon style call changes that are rung here every practice night (seen in the video).

    Hi theo I live in Braunton North Devon these are my call change ringing team Berrynarbor because they taught me how to ring I used to live in Combe Martin wich is just down the road from Berrynarbor 2 mile's I ring Competitons for Berrynarbor but sadly I wasn't there in this video unfortunately these bells are the trickiest I have ever rung but tenors only 10cwt in G and they sound nice outside but its quiet inside lucky we got learners there Gareth and Paul

    The bells are quite quiet. And a lot of rope rattle.

      Yes, being a ground floor ring and the bells hung at the very top of the tower it means that they are extremely quiet. This is why they have the trap door open in order to release more sound into the ringing chamber.

    guy ringing the tenor is Paul well he learnt to ring lily 4 years ago now and the lady on the second Pat Western rings in Ilfracombe harbour church and top church but the ringers are based at Ilfracombe top church but poor old Combe Martin and Ilfracombe Holy Trinity they hardly got no ringers there at the moment harbour church is Pip and Jim's in Ilfracombe and Ilfracombe top church by the traffic lights is Holy Trinity all 8 bell towers Combe Martin also 10cwt in G Ilfracombe Pip and Jim's 11cwt in G and Holy Trinity 12cwt in G Holy Trinity are a beautiful 8 to ring I've rung at both 2 towers in Ilfracombe 3 time's and Combe Martin also 3 time's
