Was really good to meet you and Carla at Felton yesterday ,thank you for all you're help .You were right about there being a good fish in the bridge pool as i was leaving a fella landed an 11lb sea trout. The .place you were at in this video looks great but bed in the wheel chair. The lake looked like great fun, hope to catch up with you again some time regards Tony
Good to meet you too. Fair play to you for not letting the chair stop you getting out and fishing. If I was you I'd give the head baliff of the federation a ring (his number is in the handbook). He will be able to advise on places that have the best access and you might be able to expand your territory,
Really enjoy your videos, light hearted and honest, as fishing should be! In dry fly fishing just wait until the trout turns down with the fly, don’t strike immediately. There is an old tip from experience dry fly fishers, (a little funny coming from a Irish man) when you see and feel the fish take the dry fly just say “God save the King” and lift the rod into the fish! Tight lines!
@@abakerslife No worries! Interestingly in your video ‘a trout took the fly just as you were mending the fly line over a rock and as your fly line landed on the other side of the rock and the fish was on when you lifted the rod? The action of mending the line over the rock gave the trout the time to turn down with the fly without you realising it? Your a very good fly angler, enjoy!
Thanks, good to meet you too, I blanked but picked up a couple a day or two later on another river. Not having any luck on the Coquet this year so far.
Enjoyed watching your day out Rob. Shame not to have bumped into you and Karla on the Coquet yet this season. I've had a sea trout and a couple of salmon (everything 6lb), but I've had to put in a lot of hours for them. I think there's too much water in for Felton at the moment. Not touching anything. Maybe they are running straight through? Who knows?
That's good going Brian., they don't come without a considerable investment of time it appears. i haven't had a fish off the Coquet yet, just haven't been in the right place at the right time. Felton is an enigma to me but definitely it is best with plenty of water. I'll look out for you on the river.
Yes mate, I've got an entire seasons worth to come out once the fishing finishes at the end of October. I've been out most days for the last couple of months and have collected a ton of footage to start working through between now and Christmas.
Could you help me identify the best places to access on the fed tyne beat I’ve been tied to fishing a couple of spots on bywell lane and ovingham bridge please
i would ring head bailiff Keith Mather, number in the handook, he will be able to describe the access to the fishing better than me. He is a good guy to chat with and will be happy to help.
@@abakerslife Cheers, does that get you access to the Rede as well? I currently fish the NAF waters but wouldn't mind a few more options as well. Tight lines!
Hmm, i am not so sure about those lightening fast strikes, i wait 1-2 seconds like on the salmon so they can turn and go back down and it works well for me. Nice vid as usual and some nice trout. Good stuff:)
Nice size wild brownies. Another very entertaining video. River looks low...we used to go swimming in the Rede at West Woodburn when we were kids.
Thanks, yes the river was at summer level.
The fishing was marvellous, but the cooking ….sublime!
Many thanks, I think a good lunch is an important part of any day on the water.
Lovely looking little place to spend an evening chucking a fly.
Definately and lucky to have it all to myself.
Another great video! Thank you for sharing!
Many thanks, loads of fishing to come.
Cracking video....your GSD is the perfect ghillie
Her netting skills are questionable though!
A grand video, thanks very much.
Many thanks

Many thanks, I will bear that in mind next time I'm out though I'm not sure about the king part.

Very kind but remember what you are watching is edited!!!!
Good video, nice to meet you on Friday at Felton. I hope you got one after I left.

Awesome video this - been waiting for you to upload something for a while. Keep making them 👍
Thanks, plenty of fishing videos to come as I've been on the river a lot lately.

ever thought of going barbless?
Since I've started tying my own flies I only use barbless hooks.
Hi when abouts will u be in alston south tyne ken caught a nice 14lb salmon we met last october and you gave me a spinner you found at kirkhaugh
I will be up there for sure in September/October when the water is up. I really enjoyed fishing there.
Does casting your main fly line not destroy it when landing it over rocks?
I think you'd have to do it a lot to have an impact, the coatings are pretty durable.

Which club/syndicate are you with? Lake looks canny
The lake is a Tyneside Anglers Syndicate water.

Yes you get 2.5 miles of the Rede too.
Fishes a lot better with a bit more water..

Many thanks, I will be less trigger happy in future and see how that goes.
@@abakerslife you will probably need to be fast for the tiny creektrout but try calming down a bit on the larger trout:)
Boiling water on the tatties according to Delia!
Well Delia wasn't cookingbin the back of a van!
