    As someone who just moved from the west coast of FL (lived there 40+ years) the people moving to FL thinking it's all sunshine and fun you're going to be in for a big surprise. The infrastructure is not keeping up with growth. The culture is practically non-existent because most people are transient and don't stay long. The traffic is awful. There's going to be issues getting clean drinkable water as many fast growing areas on wells are drying up. And dare I say climate change is intensifying hurricanes making them larger, stronger, and more frequent.
    Thank you for your content. I've been watching for a little over a year and have found it really helpful. So far, we really love it here. The people we have met are incredibly nice and we love being able to go outside more often and really appreciate the natural beauty of this area.

      Interesting... I live in Tampa and have grown up here. My work has a corporate office in Camas and I am considering moving to it for a change of pace. Got any tips learned along the way?

      I imagine it is vastly different from Tampa, what are some of the noticeable nice changes and some things that you think my be hard to adjust to. Also, if i make enough money, being a young guy, is it worth looking into Portland to live downtown while commuting to camas? Any areas you recommend avoiding? I know they are pretty open-ended so feel free to just respond with whatever comes to mind. Thank You!!

      @@benoflaherty313 So some nice changes: traffic is not as bad ( imo) as FL. I lived in SWFL and my 17 mile commute to the office would take an hour each morning. Even when traffic is backed up, it's still at minimum comparable. There seems to be more apartments and townhomes going up. I didn't look into those as much because we have a dog and knew we needed a yard. But from what I've seen, the cost of those seem comparable. We've traveled to Portland a few times. It's beautiful and has a lot of things to do. I will say it's like taking Ibor City and multiplying it by 1000%. For me ( being older) I am pretty content being in WA plus Oregon has state income tax so that's something to think about. My son who is 18 would love to live in Portland. I think that you'd definitely need to feel it out to see if it is a place you'd want to live in. Bul t ultimately your commute from Portland probably wouldn't be bad because you'd be going into WA while everyone would be heading to work in Portland. l

    Wow! I'm shocked to hear that Idaho is more expensive than Vancouver. At one time, I looked at Boise as a possible relo from Portland but I backed off when I realized that they've got water issues AND they are so remote from a lot of amenities we have in the PNW. Also, the landscape is almost desert-like versus the lush green in Portland metro. I've lived in both Vancouver & West Portland and I have to say, I much prefer Vancouver, especially with all the progress they're making with the infrastructure. YOUR VIDEOS ARE GREAT because you are always so HONEST! 👍👍👍

      Hi Carrie, thanks for watching! Yes I was also surprised to hear (during Covid) how expensive Boise market was. It is very interesting indeed.

    Home prices have been shooting up, which translates to increased property taxes. Have relatives there and this is their complaint. I would not want to be anywhere near Portland for obvious reasons.

    We live just west of Camas about 1/2 mile west of 192nd the dividing line street. We've been here 31 years and love it. Of course, the area has grown a lot but SW Washington is a great place to live. We just spoke with a Hawaiian airlines flight attendant (on our way home from the Big Island). She and her family moved to Camas about a year ago to afford a home. She commutes to work about 2 weeks a month. She cited the close proximity to the Portland airport and the good Camas schools as a reason why they chose Camas.

      How awesome! Glad its been a great place to call home for you for 30 plus years. Being close to PDX is a huge perk. Cheers

      Please refer to this guide from the WA DOR. Generally in Clark County it's around 1% of the assessed value of the home. - dor.wa.gov/sites/default/files/2022-02/HomeOwn.pdf

    Have you seen the new Climate Ratings on Zillow? Can you please talk about PNW Vancouver, Camas air quality’s rating is extremely poor 10/10. I’ve watched most of your pros and cons this was not in there. Is there truth to this? If so why would that be?

    • @LivingInVancouverCamasWash
      @LivingInVancouverCamasWash  Месяц назад

      I did see they announced that feature. Personally I do not put much stock into those 3rd party ratings becuase you dont know where they get data from. I would suggest going straight to the data source and looking at historical AQI.
      I have never heard anyone say they think the air quality in Camas or Clark County is bad. This is a very green, wet area of the country and we are close the river. I think its very fresh and clean but that is just my opinion!

    voting is personal, but don't move to a new, nice spot, and turn it into a dumpster either.

    Yes voting is personal, private and do have the ability/privilege to vote how they choose but…. We do have the right to want to keep policies from politically torn areas out of our towns. FJB and FKH.

    8:07 People can vote however they want, they pay taxes, it is silly to think you have to vote how other people vote just because you are new to the area.

    • @sca1645
      @sca1645 2 месяца назад +2

      Sure, but people leave an area because they don't like what it's turned into...(LA, SF, etc) and then pretend policy and how people vote wasn't the major contributing factor. So they move and then keep voting the same way, pretty easy to understand how insane that is. Its like a virus, kills the host and moves to a new area.

  • @lindaanderson3973

    Voting is personal and private. No one should care about how anyone else voted.

      Do you think that high crime, poor schools and businesses fleeing areas like Detroit or Portland happened because people were voting for top notch leadership? Voting matters…
