Wow Ed! A real stunning pair of blooms! You must be thrilled! Hopefully this one will bloom twice a year for you to make up for lost time. I didn’t know about the different types Sesquipedale, very interesting!
Good morning Beverly. Yes I'm very pleased with the outcome of the blooms and the 12 year wait has been a long time but well worth the wait. Hope all is good with you. Ed.
@@EdsOrchids I'm glad to be of support. And I think the idea of a solo plant with info would be a great idea. Especially, on those days that you don't feel up to the usual, but still wish to post a video.
Impressive flowers. I would love one but I don't know if I have the room. I will have to wait until winter and see how everything fits in my greenhouse. Thanks for sharing.
All of the Angeacums which have sesquiedale in them are a good size. Angraecum vietchii and Crestwood are very nicely bloomed and long lasting. Sould have one in evry collection. Thanks Patricia for having a look at my channel. Ed,
I'm expecting that the blooms will last for a month or so....but the high humidity may cause them to halve that time. I.ve waited 12 years for this to bloom so, yes, I am quite proud of the plant. Hope all is still well with you. Ed.
Amazing plant stunning flowers! A well cared for plant. Any reason why you don't bring it in your home when in flower? Will the change of environment cause the flowers to drop? You should be very proud of this pristine plant. Huge plant...not sure I would have room for this one. Do you consider this a warm grower and could it do OK in an intermediate home? Thanks for sharing this beauty.
Good evening Res and thanks for the comment. I don't bring it into the house because I like to smell the aroma late at night in the greenhouse and I don't have plants in the house anymore after I messed things up last winter bringing them indoors. I grow this as an intermediate.....as I do all my other plants. The cool growers like the masdevallias are doing fine in their given conditions. My pleasure to show it and thanks for taking a look. Ed.
I got one at one of my last NW orchid soc meeting! It got mealy bugs and I had to repot to save it. Now it has leaf drop. Absolute disaster! Fingers crossed it survives.
Gorgeous flowers Ed. I just received my first Angraecum sesquipedale today. What substrate would you recommend? It might be ok in its current pot for a year but just planning ahead. Keen to try your stacking pot repot system :)
It is sooo beautiful!!! I have a Alabaster 'Williamsburgh 76'. Is it suppose to get tall like that?? I have heard they don't like to be transplanted, does that apply to my little 6 inch plant?? I love all the bbn information you told us about the plant!! Very helpful!! Again, it is very beautiful!!👍👍😁😁
Hi Valarie and thanks for your comment. Young plants will be OK to transplant but large plants of the Angraecum and Renanthera species can either go downhill very quickly or not show any growth for nearly 5 years. Don't forget though that some of the small plants may be full sized plants. Ed.
Good evening IIeana and thankyou for your question. When you get the Angraecums, and hopefully they look very healthy, make a note of what they're planted in and try to keep to the some type of compost when repotting......and when you repot don't take it out of its existing pot just put it into a larger pot. with a compost which is free draining. Let the compost almost dry out before watering again and feed sparingly when small. This is only my opinion......take care, Ed.
@@EdsOrchids thanks so much for your advice!!! They are healthy and came potted in bark. I agree with your suggestions and I will do as you advised. 🌸❤️🌸🥰
You would surely get a ribbon award for this stunning Angraecum. The blooms are enormous and I wish we had smelly vision.
