- If you’ve been following my spinal fusion journey you know that my first fusion on March 21st FAILED so we had an emergency surgery on April 10th!
This is my 6th week of recovery I have so much less swelling and pain now unless I accidently move in a way that I shouldn't!
I've been using the Actastim-S Fusion growth stimulator for a month and it is super easy to deal with on a daily basis. They want you to wear it 24 hours per day for 270 days so it'll become you little buddy that you never leave behind.
I also filmed my entire consultation with the Acta-Stim team to show you all of the features and functions of this amazing little device!
Below are links to the tried and true items I have used for my recovery so far.

I am 65 yrs old and 6 wks post op on an ALIF L4-L5 with back screws fixation. I am SO, SO SORRY about your first surgery not working out. You are young & strong with a great attitude and will be all right. A tough process, though. You are in my thoughts and prayers for a fast, steady, and full recovery.
Hey, thanks so much for the kind words and you’ve got this recovery in the bag too!
I am also at 6 wks alif. Only bad issue I have is swelling. I am ready to go back to work but found that with my swelling belly I need to thrift office clothes two sizes bigger than before surgery. Dr says it should start going down after 3 myths to a year. Did you swell? Are you doing anything to help with it?
@lghealthyover6074. Any swelling with your alif. I am at 6 wks and lots of swelling
@@kristyrowe9221 I had really bad swelling on the first fusion but not too much on the 2nd fusion. Go to my spine playlist and you can see each video as it unfolded. Thanks for supporting my channel
Your wife does great camera work!!
Hey thanks so much!
So glad to hear you’re doing so well with your recovery. Good luck on your path to better physical health!
Thanks so much Frank!
Keep going strong on that recovery. 💪You will be back on the trails before you know it. 😎
Thanks buddy...I hope so!
so love and admire your strength.. keep up the great work
Thanks for always being so positive Mary!
Thank you for you posting your story, having a revision June 5th!!
Good luck on the next one! The second recovery seems easier than the first
It's great that you're doing well and hope you continue to get stronger and healthier...Just keep going... PS....Hope to see you guys at the Maggie Valley Jeep Feast next weekend....Missed you guys last year...
Hey We'll be there! We'll be in the show and shine so that I'll have somewhere to sit lol!
Awesome. Keep going, you are give hope to us. Blessings.!!!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
Thanks!
Thanks you for watching!
I use one but is huge compared to that one 2 hours a day
Gotcha this thing is tiny and easy so 24hours isn’t bad at all
Were you doing any PT after surgery?Other than yr own walking.
Ive had neck surgery & was a breeze. That was over 10 yrs ago. Now i need L4-S1. Ive tried Injections with no relief. Ive been doing PT water therapy which has helped alot.
I’ve had 2 sessions of PT but they were pretty useless if you already have exercise therapy experience so we are doing our own because we weren’t impressed with the therapists.
@@DownSouth_Adventures My 1st PT was useless too. Since they don't do MRI until you've gone through some. It made my pain worse. Water Therapy is a game changer.
@@angelaraum1545 Absolutely!
Do you have any residual nerve pain your leg! Live following your journey .
I have some numbness on the top of my left foot, but it’s not pain so I can tolerate it!
@@DownSouth_Adventures I may have to have a revision, 17 months post fusion, still have severe pain and nerve pain in leg, calf, foot. Looks like a non union hasn’t fused even with the stimulator. Thanks for responding!
Brother I just got home on Sunday from my surgery. I’m doing short walks two or three times a day. I do have pain buT I take it easy. I’m so looking forward for the two to three week mark so I will be pretty much thru the big pain. Keep up the good work.
@@grammiefish GOOD LUCK! The 2nd recovery was easier than the first one for me if that helps!
@@donaldally7314 Please take it easy in these first 2 weeks.....I was walking 3 short trips per day and it caused my screw to back out so for this revision I didnt walk anywhere but to the kitchen and bathroom for 2 weeks
What's up bro looking good stay strong. I'm talking 2 different doctors for my L4 L5. S one surgery ..orthopedic.dr wants to do alif front and Screws in back. neurologeon wants only screws in the front nothing in the back. Don't know what to do. What do you think?
I’m not a doctor but fusion takes 270days for a full fusion so I just feel like the screws and rods help keep it from moving.
Good evening. I'm a patient at the same EmergeOrtho, and my Dr is Zook. We did L4-L5 fusion in May 2023, and it failed. I've not had another surgery yet. I'd like to go into more detail. Is there a way to reach you or your wife that's more private? I'm over in Marion, so we're kind of neighbors, lol.
Sure you can send us a message on Facebook!
ROCK ON BROTHER!!!! The biggest wall you face is the one you build for yourself!!!! EAT MEAT KILLAH!!!!!!!
Hey, thanks so much for the kind words buddy!
Is bone stimulator same as a TENS unit?
No it is very very different. This unit doesn’t affect pain or anything else but actual bone growth.
I see you got your bone growth stimulator from your doctor where else can you get the unit at. I gaining next week to get a double fusion L4-L5 L5-S1. any Info will help thanks Robert
@@colaman460 Just ask your Doctor about it and they should get you set up!
@@colaman460 Good luck with your procedure
Have you tried to ride a bike?
The Doctor doesn't want me on that yet so I'll probably give it another 3 months. I'm only walking and doing therapy currently
