I had no problem with showing kpop to both of my best friends I was like one I must show you this and I showed them bang bang bang of bigbang bc I knew they would love it and my female best friend was like omg they are so hot and who is one with brown hair and now her bias is Daesung and my male best friend was like yo they so cool who is this it was G-Dragon.....I was ok with it bc TOP is my ub so we didn't fight XD

I wore a 2NE1 shirt to school, and one of my Korean kinda-friends recognized it, and I had no idea they listened to Kpop. To be honest, when they saw my shirt and they said "Wait lemme see that" I wasn't sure how they were gonna react. I didn't know if they thought it was cool that Americans listened to it or not, but they were actually very happy that I listened to it, and respected me a lot for it.

There are also double standards as fans for boy groups. I remember an episode Hello Counselor where a guy was a fan of Sungjong, and everybody was so weirded out. Like, I'm a girl and I'm a fan of girl groups! I love not only their hair, makeup, and clothes...but the music in general. I really look up to a few idols like Amber and Ailee. But if was a guy who admires a male idol for their talents, he's suddenly "strange"? I just find that so hypocritical. I personally love it when I find kpop fanboys (like you Jre;))
Its partly perceived homophobia. Two guys are "gross" and everyone panics,yet two girls are "hot".
My absolute favourite moment as a kpop fan is the moment when you unexpectedly realise another person loves the same band as you. Maybe they see your screensaver. Maybe their phone alarm goes off and it's an iconic song. But that moment when your eyes meet and both of you realise at the same moment that you have a bond, an inseparable bond that stretches across the universe and connects you both ... Can't be beaten
My issue is when people find it weird. But my automatic response: I can now speak some Korean, I'm more open minded towards other cultures. I can READ a completely different language that contains it's own characters. Music doesn't have a language.
Thwy usually shut up. 😂 My nephews and little brother love it. In fact, whenever one of my nephews won't sleep, I'll just sing "딱 좋아" ballad style(even the rap parts) to him & he's out. It's his favorite song.

I just came home crying the other day for being made fun of for wearing a Jimin shirt and I was told I "sleep, eat, and breathe Korean" which I personally don't think is bad. I don't want to be the average American. I'm half black and I don't want to fit into the stereotypes that if your a certain race only listen to "your" music.

My Kpop problem is that people like to accuse groups of copying other groups. For example, people are saying that Twice is copying SNSD & AOA for their upcoming comeback. It's irritating how no group can do a specific concept or wear outfits without being accused of plageriam. No one group owns the concept nor the style of clothes. Concepts will continue to be used for every generation of groups to come. I personally think it's beautiful to see concepts being used by new generations of groups but with their own unique twist. Okay! Rant over 😄😄😄 (BTW, sorry for the novel)

i lived in a small town where no one really liked or even knew of kpop, so when i moved to a big city and went to a small kpop meet up i met some of the greatest people in the world. i've made so many friends since then (living with 4 of them now too) and also met my boyfriend too. before meeting these friends, i felt so alone due to a lot of my old friends leaving me out and ignoring me, but meeting these friends i started to feel loved and no longer alone anymore, and it was because we all shared the love of kpop that we were able to meet. i'm forever grateful.

Well, one of the problem is being "OLD" and still being a kpop fan (like myself, 28 years old and proud fan of KPOP)… People judge you even more for that because they assume kpop is only boy bands & girls band for teenagers… Duh… Music is timeless!
And everyone thinks you can only stan groups...I'm totally Eric Nam trash...no make that a landfill...that guy is so underrated it's a sin.And soloists doesn't seem to get the same attention unless they were part of a group.

AND I SUCCEDED at least one of them got completly kpop sucked in, and 2 of them just appreciate the music and dont judge, the rest might laugh sometimes with our craziness, but they dont pay much attention to us when we are being crazy kpop fans :D

The very beginning of becoming a kpop fan is opening your ears. I had lots of friends who didn't really know kpop. So during breaks, I would play all sorts of videos for them and eventually, they came to like some songs, especially Big Bang. That to me was a big achievement. Now, I can fangirl a little and my friends wont be like "wtf" ahaha. Kpop friendships are the strongest.
