    Looks to me as Webster is leaning down already, and Heeney is looking for contact to push off and he turns his head as he has made contact and didn’t realise the damage he has done.

    McDonald's miss was unfortunate, but the responsibility doesn't lie with just one player. It was a near miss, that looked like it was going through for a goal until the last two seconds. Sydney had 27 scoring shots to St Kilda's 19. And that doesn't include Papley's shot that went out on the full. Their inaccuracy cost Sydney dearly yesterday.

    Cannot believe people are actually calling for a suspension here. He's trying to push off his opponent and accidentally slaps him in the face. You can see he immediately turns to apologise which says to me it was accidental not intentional like this knob Tom Morris is going on about. Brandon Zerk-Thatcher did the same thing on Saturday and didn't even get cited, so Heeney has nothing to worry about here. Feel free to tell me to take my red and white goggles off here if I'm wrong.

    • @walkerbroftw5591
      @walkerbroftw5591 17 дней назад

      Well the guidelines are pretty clear that the AFL wants players to take caution when fending/pushing off other players to contest the ball, he may not have meant to hurt him, but he did mean to create separation, and in doing so, he struck another player high, in past years its probably rated as careless, given new guidelines its hard to see how it doesn't rate as intentional high contact and an automatic week. Whether he gets off or not is a different question at tribunal, but in a world where the afl is adamant to do what they can to protect the head, some players are gonna end up on the end of some stiff decisions.

    Could the AFL, the MRO and the AFL tribunal possibly be compared to any other professional sporting organisation on the basis of incompetence. The game is owned and for the fans. As with a large number of other situations and incidents in the game over a number of years now, no fan gives a f..k if Jimmy Webster or any other player, cops a blood nose from unintentional contact to the face by someone trying to stop him from scragging and simply trying to break free to offer a lead to his teammate. It’s a free kick! Maybe we could rule out raising your knee, using your fist to spoil the ball or contest a ruck contest and lord knows whatever else will save a blood nose or a headache or a concussion or a bunch of broken ribs, a punctured lung and a ruptured spleen.
