You are a idiot kid who knows nothing and understands nothing and who most probably got his "opinions" from a mainstream deathmetal or true Fake black metal source and reproduces it like a parrot. Before you do a video spend some more time thinking or gain some experience. But I doubt you will ever get out of mediocracy
Absolutely. And I don't see anything "cringe" at all about the concept behind the record. Some of the most honest lyrics in extreme metal and an insight into a very interesting (and pretty coherent) philosophy. Musically is a masterpiece just like the previous two albums. An obvious tribute to '70s and '80s hard rock, heavy & thrash metal but with cold death/black metal melodies. A perfect album.
I agree at most parts with you. The Somberlain and Storm of The Light's Bane are classics on their own. And in case you don't know, Jon wanted to be as extreme as possible, that's why he joined MLO, killed that homosexual dude and made Dissection a band that's all about Satan, the biggest example being Reinkaos. And that was his biggest disadvantage. He overdid it. Had we another album by him it would be a huge blessing. But Jon wanted to make a bang in black metal and he did twice, one successfully and one that was literally laughable. Reinkaos was made after Jon's creative peak (the 90's), so it isn't that delicious and Jon's voice is really bad (though he possesses such a vitriol noone else except few have). It's an album that either could be relased back in the 90's or rewritten at parts. Concept-wise, behind some good lines, it's basically a transmission of MLO's satanic beliefs by some short of metal that uses string smashing and vibrations to bend down the cosmos and that's all. No actual lyrical meaning, no complexity in the songwriting (more riffs instead of verse-chorus-verse-chorus), nothing as memorable as it could be. It does have good moments and headbangers like Black Dragon and God of Forbidden Light, but it's one-dimensional for a good part lyrically and sometimes musically (not that dissimilar from Burzum lyrically). There's nothing more, just Satanism and some short of watered-down black metal that however possesses some drive behind it. Don't get me wrong, I like a lot satanic black metal bands, but this is way too much when things get out of control. Jon should think twice before killing that guy and composing Reinkaos. Reinkaos could be A LOT better at parts, it's not as perfect as some think, but not terrible nevertheless. By the way, in case you want satanism that's not edgy and good music at the same time, I highly suggest that you listen to Rotting Christ. I'm a huge fan of them and they release great material (give a spin to Triarchy of The Lost Lovers and Theogonia and make please if you can a band review for them). You won't be disappointed.
Not a bad video, Christian. In fact, I'd say this is one of the best breakdowns of Dissection I've heard thus far. I disagree with your views on Reinkaos but your reasoning for not enjoying that album was well reasoned and easily understood. I personally enjoy how ecah track flows into the next and I'd argue the riffs were better than you stated but still, I feel I understand a diametrically opposed viewpoint better and that's always a plus. All in all, this is a video I'm actively invested in rewatching. Nicely done, my dude.
I strongly disagree with your take on Reinkaos. I think it's a fantastic melodic death metal album and on par with the 90s albums, and even better than In Flames and Dark Tranquillity. Too bad he did the Larping way too far and killed himself, but maybe that gives the album an extra dimension. It takes some time to get used to though. Maybe you should give it another chance. (My english is bad, because I'm norwegian and its 30 years ago I went to school and learned english.)
I actually love Reinkaos, and maybe he was a little harsh about how he felt for it “due it being more ritual like” but it doesn’t take away how incredible it is, if u know any basics on demonology, Reinkaos is like the church soundtrack for it lmao (I’m American so I use jokes for examples) anyways, he never said the band was bad -.-
It's the inevitable fate of all legendary black metal bands that they, in some way or another, turn into an absolute circus act. Hearing the story of Dissection somehow made Behemoth and CoF look more dignified and that's saying quite a bit. Loved the review as always, I like this podcast-y style and how versatile the watching/listening experience can be as a result of it
Very few people understand that Reinchaos was Jon's personal ritual. He still respected fans but recorded Reinchaos for himself in first place, it was expression of his devotion to mystical realms. There is one point in some interviev where he said it's not abut music anymore, music is marginal thing in that whole story.. There is strenght, spirit, power and meaning walking the line he did. On the other hand; making YT videos...not so much, you little mouse :)
Thank you for saying this. You don’t have to believe in Satan, you don’t have to like the album. But I like how he clowns Jon for turning Dissection into a satanic band, when Dissection was always his band in the first place. And Jon put out this record, like you said, for himself and what he believed in. I respect Jon for that. I respect him for putting his passion and belief into the record. (Sorry if this comment kinda has grammatical errors, I rushed writing this comment.)
Glad you mentioned that his suicide had a ritual aspect to it, feel like that is not mentioned enough. One other thing though that also is never mentioned about this story...the person they murdered, they did that with as part of a ritual as well I believe?
It does not literally believe in Satan or any other god; it's atheist in nature. The right wing part is the emphasis on private property, rugged individualism and the embrace of hierarchy, in a way that is consistent with capitalist ideology. There is a common joke that LaVey is just spooky Ayn Rand and there is a reason for that.
Fr bro wtf is this dude talking abt, he had it right until he was trying to talk about they’re satanism, he has no idea that they studied ancient Babylon 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Maybe I need to revisit it but The Somberlain while great does become repetitive to me. Completely right about Storm though, Emperor May be my favourite but I think it has the best songwriting of any 2’nd wave release
What happened with Reinkaos is that it was their second album for Nuclear Blast so by the laws of the universe it had to suck. It’s extremely mediocre melodeath , would be much better if the drummer didn’t make Quorthon’s drum machine sound like Neil Peart. Satanic In Flames but yeah not anywhere nearly Colony or the like
The blast beats on the first two albums aren’t frequent but are really impactful when it came. Honestly John seemed to think he alone was Dissection when he had a great band behind him , especially the drummer and the other guitarist who was actually the one who wrote the interludes
Maybe do one about nocturnus? They are really unnoticed and underrated. Hard to get into because its so many notes in a second. Technical death metal with a sci fi atmosphere

brb showing this to my friends for a good laugh
Boooo
Crazy how Jon released/wrote The Somberlain when he was 17-18 and SOTLB when he was 20 🤯
Much more than I've done at that age
All 3 albums are masterpieces. R.I.C. Jon...
Reinkaos is underrated. Their second best album in my opinion

Yup! 🖤🤘
Fascist connections? They studied the Babylonian bible. Get your shit straight bro. Good review until you attempted to sum up their sacrifices
I'm enjoying this alot. *Windir* would be another great contender.

@@Rose-vw6oe he doesn't get it. Reinkaos isn't horrendous, but it's not as perfect for me at parts as some say.
Nobody pronounces Reinkaos right. It’s re-in (as in reincarnation) and chaos.
Vicious Riff Dispenser is gonna be the name of my next band
Best Fukin Band Ever

100% agree with almost everything you say here. Great overview of Jon and Dissection.
LaVeyan Satanism is “just right-wing atheism”? Wut?

the name doesn't ring a bell I'm afraid

react to Dissection - The Somberlain Live HD from early 90s
Well said. I agree jon f...ed up. He lost his dam mind. The first 2 albums are the best.100%
Ok, you lost me when you said the MLO has ties with Fascism.
Random Blokes - Excellent
I love Storm, but I've always like Somberlain a bit more. Anyone else?
Ye their best album
The Somberlain is my favourite Dissection song, but as a whole storm is better.
From 1:02 to 1:11 can you tell me which beautiful Dissection song plays??
That's A Land Forlorn from The Somberlain; the section I used there is my favorite Dissection riff
@@AngryChristian1 I like that riff too. It's so goddamn atmospheric and melancholic, I absolutely love it!

I love Nocturnus, one of my favorite death metal bands. I'll certainly be doing them at some point soon!
The only songs on reinkaos I like are starless aeon and black dragon
Same here, those two are pretty catchy actually
Reinkaos and Chaosophia! The instrumental ones... but I respect the album for the concept...
Me too, along with God of Forbidden Light.
"this fuckin dude" had me crying lmao
What you said about Reinkaos is the most L take I've ever heard, congrats
While most of Reinkaos album sucks, Maha Kali is awesome.
