My late mother, who was born n bred in Sailortown often talked about a fella she 'courted' briefly in the '60s from the Cullingtree Rd called Paddy Dorrian. She was a mod back n the day and so was he. She didnt go out on a second date 'cause she said she had nothing new to wear and she was embarrassed 😊.
Why was it called the pound loney?

back in the late 19th century the British army kept their horses in a pound which would have been behind where St Comgalls school is now... loney from the Irish word lonán meaning pathway or lane
