Jc sings first then Justin; this album was called no strings attached and this was their second album. The title is in reference to their management specifically Lou Pearlman who was ripping them off so they got independence from him. Backstreet Boys had similar issues with Lou as well. There's a documentary on RUclips that Lance Bass (one of the NSYNC members) produced and its pretty disturbing.
I still worked at MTV during this time period. If they were going to be on TRL, you could barely get in the building to get to work - Times Square was full of screaming kids. Good times.
The boy bands were designed to capitalize on the huge financial draw of the teen girl market in the music industry. To give credit, each of the guys are chosen for their abilities to sing & dance, aside from their looks, so the talent is there. It is overlooked or dismissed by many in spite of the fact these guys worked their butts off when performing. I was too old to be terribly interested when they were all popular (I was not their demographic), but I still enjoyed their stuff when I happened to hear / see it & have mad respect for their accomplishments.
I don't think you're ever too old, really. I grew up on top 40, all styles, and love it all. I was 25/26 when they had their first hit, plus I'm a guy. LOL. I don't care about their dancing or looks, for obvious reasons, but you can't deny the music was great! That's what matters to me. 🙂
I'm also from the geritol crew. I remember Justin Timberlake only became interesting to me after I saw his skits on Saturday Night Live and realized there was more going on with him than just dance moves and music for the group. He came across as down to earth with a good sense of humor.
Jackson 5 paved the way for New Edition, which paved the way for New Kids On The Block, which paved the way for Backstreet Boys, which paved the way for NSYNC. They were really the last hugely successful boyband following that model. The other boy bands who came up after were products of either Disney (Jonas Brothers) or reality TV shows (One Direction).
The Beatles were the first. There were PLENTY of other all male groups but when boy bands are mentioned I think the criteria comes down to girls losing their ever loving shit. 🤣
My guess he had shitty producers. Justin worked with timbaland and Pharrell. JC’s solo wasn’t great and I honestly think he wasn’t working with anyone decent or the vision sucked.
Robbed by the record label and someone with similar initials perhaps... A damn shame really, they focused on developing the wrong talent/artist. Even Disney back when they were all Mouseketeers, JC was more talented than the whole lot. And he still is. And he always will be. If you know, you know ❤
JC was the best voice in the group. For examples of Chris Kirkpatrick vocals see I Drive Myself Crazy and the live performance of Falling from the Pop Odyssey tour (studio version doesn't feature Chris despite the fact he wrote the song), for Joey see Ready to Fall from the On the Line movie soundtrack.
I went to High school with Chris Kirkpatrick We were friends and tried starting a garage band together. After school we lost touch. As you see. He did way better then I did. Lol He was a super nice guy. Had a hard rock style back then.
Dancing along in my living room, probably not the only one💃🤣! We all knew this dance back in the day! It’s a cult classic dance routine, that makes me smile! Thank you ☺️ once again for entertaining me!!!

This soing takes me back. Sophomore year of college, my roommate and I learned all the dance moves to this song and danced along with the video every time it came on MTV.

Dam, this is crazy to hear again. When I was a kid in the 90's you heard this band everywhere. It was either them or BackstreetBoys and the girls were crazy fighting over which band was better.
Both Backstreet Boys & N’Sync were put together by people trying to recreate the success of New Kids on the Block. It succeeded because both groups were massively successful.
The one in the red jumper with the blonde curls is Justin Timberlake. This song is awesome! I’m a proper 90’s baby so seeing the younger generations appreciating it the way we did is a testament to the music 😊
I love watching these reactions. I sometimes wonder if they were as good as I thought and even some cheesy songs have a place in my heart for being the soundtrack of my life. These boys and Britney were part of my times during my first military assignment in Alaska. I was seriously telling the snow "Bye Bye". I also had The Matrix, The Mummy and Armaggedon in the theaters. Good times.

The fact that this is a song from 21 yrs prior to filming this video and he was JAMMING to it (and its come back in 2024) proves it stands the test of time. Our boys have SKILL.
I love Justin’s James Dean look in the video that was probably influenced by Luke Perry and Jason Priestley from Beverly Hills 90210 who were influenced by James Dean
I see others have already told you who the boys are - JC sings first and Justin second (yeah I'd call them the main singers as they usually had the solos, especially for the songs that came out as singles). I always thought JC should've had much more successful career but his solo career was handled so poorly and it didn't work out like Justin's did. JC's music was "too weird" for the time, while Justin's was much more relateable. Too bad as JC's voice is outstanding. And by the way, JC and Justin knew each other from the Mickey Mouse Club.
Oh my gosh. I have forgotten how awesome this song is. I do have the CD but haven't had it out for a long time. Awesome song. It will get you going. Thanks

It’s 2023, and the world is ready for another *NSYNC to emerge. The new generation listens and immediately vibes with the dancing, choreography and harmony. I’m telling you, we will enter another boy band realm soon…
This song comes from the No String Attached album released right after the lawsuit against Lou Pearlman. The theme celebrates their release from Lou's corrupt influence. Lou was a con man who cheated them and Backstreet Boys out of lots of their earnings. Lance did a documentary on him called The Boyband Con. It's available on RUclips. Vanity Fair did an article and tv episode entitled Mad About the Boys about Lou. Very interesting.
NSYNC was the one boyband from back then I wouldn't hit the skip button on. They always had a great R'N'B-y vibe. I saw you already listened to Ginuwine's Pony. Try his "What's so different too" if you get around to it :)

Chris Kirkpatrick’s best role will always be Chip Skylark in The Fairly Oddparents! I still pump “My Shiny Teeth and Me” on my car stereo ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
JC was the best but I think his voice is less distinct than Justin's and that's why he didn't do so well as a solo artist.
