The fact that he is kind, upstanding and respectful to all is icing on the cake.
Jon's not very smart. Dana knows damn well Greg Jackson has made the plan for every one of Jon's fights. He should be praising Jackson's fight IQ not Jon's.
There's nothing about Tom Aspinall that can make anyone dislike him as a fighter. He's the definition of a throwback fighter. He scores 1st round KOs regularly, willing to fight anyone, blasted out the "boogeyman" in the heavyweight division after taking the fight with less that 2 weeks notice and no fight camp, he's respectful to all his peers and potential opponents, always smiling, a sense of humour even if its a bit nerdy at times and the relationship with his dad is a wholesome story as it is his father that moulded him into the fighter he is today. He'll be at the top of the rankings for a very long time champion or not
Tbf Curtis did try to step in and Tom was stepping in at the same time, and that jab was so fast they had to slow it down on the replay for anyone to even see it 😂. He smokes Jon with ease, I dc anymore. Jones fanboys can cope all they want, but Jones won’t fight him. He knows exactly how serious of a threat Tom is
@johnjohnsonstein8409 Fedor was as fast as he is and also very explosive obviously they have different fighting styles but in terms of stand up and quickness of their combos they have a resemblance I think.
It shouldn’t have been to start off. Jones should have been stripped long time, fight few times and then get title shot against champion. In this case Tom.
Jon is a light heavyweight this guy is a real full on heavyweight with the speed of a middle weight, did no one see how slow jon was at heavyweight for the one fight.
Yeah gane was actually playing with jon on the feet until jon exploited his obvious weakness on the ground. Scary thing is tom doesnt play, he goes for the kill the second the bell rings....
Live in the same place as Tom. He is not going to be beat in a very long time. Massive credit to his family. TV does not do it justice how fucking huge he is as well. We love you Tom !
Jon is goat for a reason, the person who workouts knows that to be able to add mass you need long period of time, 3 years was good time for adding all those muscles and power, you can't just lift dumble and become powerful, it takes time. So all those people who are criticizing Jones for long layoff has no knowledge about human anatomy and he didn't ducked Ngannou, Ngannou left and he is not ducking Aspinall as well, Jon got injured the day Aspinall won against Pavlovich that was the day Aspinall became Interim champion. So if jon didn't get injured there would have been no heavy weight interim champion. So he didn't duck Aspinall, Jon was injured. If jon didn't get injured he already had fought Stipe and now he would have fight Aspinall. Even DC said that Jon isn't afraid of anybody, not even Ngannou. These are DC's words.
Aspinall's stock has just gone through the roof since the weekend. He is class. If you weren't already you are all looking at him now. Whether he fights Jon or not he is the future of the heavy weight division, he is the active heavy weight champ. I am looking forward to watching his journey.
I'm not a fighter by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm 5’10 225 fairly lean. Been lifting weights since I was 10 and going gym for 20+ years. Stood next to Tom. I felt like a dwarf. It doesn't come across on camera how big these heavyweight guys are. You put a non fighter in the cage with Tom and he could kill you in 20 seconds (the first 15 is you running away)When you see the size of him in person and realise he has middleweight speed its a scary thought
It's amazing to see what Tom is doing, and he's only going to get better. Being from the same town (Atherton) as Tom, it's fantastic to see him becoming one of the biggest names in the heavyweight division. He's also a really good guy outside of the UFC, and he's more than happy to have a quick chat, etc, if you see him on a night out, he's also absolutely huge when you stand next to him in person.
Jon is underestimating stipe first of all and stipe might just have his number he beat a young Francis he's a golden gloves boxer and a collegiate wrestler I'm pretty sure, I hope stipe smokes him
What this guy saying is, he’s tired of John Jones being the champ how can you blame him? It’s been a decade and a half straight.😂😂😂😂 not forget Dana, White, the Steve bay and Jon fight as well not just Jon, which pump the brakes fanboys you all said the same thing about Francis and now he’s not even in the promotion😂
I’m pretty sure I’ve heard Tom say in an interview that he hates confrontation. In a social environment on a night out he would be the first to do whatever he could to diffuse the situation even if he was being disrespected, because he completely has his ego in check. He is also very aware that these days assholes think less of smashing a bottle in your face or slashing you open with a box cutter if you allow the situation to escalate. I get the distinct impression that if it kicked off in a bar, unless he absolutely had to get involved, either because he was cornered or one of his mates was getting filled in by a couple of guys, he would very wisely be on his toes and get out of there. He has said he is a lover and not a fighter, which sounds incorrect because of what he does for a living, but he quite rightly regards himself as an elite combat athlete, not a “fighter”. That word isn’t an appropriate enough description of what he is. No honest person could argue with the idea that Tom is the most talented well rounded heavyweight combat athlete in the UFC, possibly the world. I can imagine some of you arguing that Jon has that mantle, and i understand, but just think of this; Perhaps they both share a comparative skill level with most aspects of MMA. But if we were to say that, then Tom has the advantages of being bigger and stronger, yet faster and more nimble. He can be vicious like Jon, set traps, feints and sets up opponents for them to throw a specific punch or kick, already with a combination to answer with. I think his fight IQ and spacial IQ is notably higher than any other heavyweight and is very good at not getting hit too much. However, the heavyweight division is less forgiving of talented fighters than most other divisions. Even Tom could make a split second error in judgment under pressure and receive a full force punch to the mouth that ends his night, because as we know, any of those guys can punch a hole in the wall.
I don't think he has many problems on the few occasions he goes out, you'll have to go through his good mate/minder "big" Ben Francis first 😅 good luck with that I'd say
I believe he beats them all, to be honest. I remember when Darren Till said Tom would beat Jon, and from then on, I started watching Tom. Now, I can finally say that he beats Jon easily based on what I've seen from both Jon and Tom.

Jones is unproven at heavyweight. Undeniably the best LHW of all time but heavyweight is different. Admittedly, heavyweight hasn't got many talented wrestlers but Tom is one of the most rounded Heavyweights we've seen in a long time.
that combined with how long jones has been fighting and him not having the best performances against the last couple of newer lhw's hes been fighting. Don't get me wrong he was always in those fights, but hes lucky to win against reyes and he was pretty poor against santos. Guy managed to look bad against a fighter on basically one leg.
Jones would gain more respect losing to Aspinall than he will dodging him. I am disappointed that Dana has allowed Tom to be jerked around like this. In my eyes Tom is the champ.
The funny thing is… it’s not. He has terrible wrestling. He’s been manhandled by much smaller guys. He has a terrible ground game. Anyone can have a black belt in bjj. Alex Pereira has a black belt in bjj and he absolutely sucks on the ground.
@@cjdig86 Such a stupid take, I agree that black belts are overrated in the UFC, but Pereira would compete with most non-elite grapplers in the UFC, pulverise every intermediate grappler in the world, its not that he sucks, its that the competition for grappling in the UFC is sky-high - and he's stil 80-90% of the way there. Aspinall is a different beast, he does not have 'terrible wrestling' - no idea where you've got that from? Post some proof? He'd obviously loose to Gordon Ryan, but its not that it'd be easy.

I agree. the age gap makes a huge difference. somebody 30 is still in their prime. someone close to 40 is on the decline. It just doesn't make sense for Jon to accept the fight. But he enjoys the promotion money by entertaining the idea of it for the UFC fans. All this does is tease the UFC fans with a maybe fight in the future. Jones is way too smart in risking an L. JJ is a has been and so is Stipe. The payday for UFC is JJ v Tom. How long is this farce going to last. White wants a white Champion for UFC period , Danna White hates that Jones is the face . He showed it years ago , he wants to create his world Jones brings more money than any other fighter hands down !
JJ doesn't want Aspinall because he thinks he'll probably lose. The champion is supposed to fight the interum champ. Jon's talking retirement because he doesn't want to get knocked out by Aspinall. Stipe is 42 and a win over him won't mean that much because of his age. That's not to say Stipe can't beat him but Aspinall is a much bigger challenge. I'd say most fans consider Aspinall the real heavyweight champ. Beating one heavyweight that was an interum champ and then lost it before Jones beat him hardly qualifies you as heavyweight champ. But hey Dana loves him I guess because he remained faithful to the UFC.
DC made a great point, Jon has fought One HW, Tom has fought and Beat Multiple HW’s. Something to consider. Although the fight Jones had with Cyril seemed like Cyril was in rare form or slow motion or something. In my opinion.

Let's get it right.... Jon Jones can have anyone he wants....dana will give Jon anyone he wants, why has he not chosen Tom... The reason why is because he knows he loses that fight, Jon Jones was great back in the day... But look how much this sport has come on in the last 10 years, Tom is the best heavy weight by a longggg way, dana should cancel stipe fight and make Jones fight tom, if he ducks the fight let Tom fight stipe, I don't know why stipe is in the conversation respectfully he's been out for a few years he's getting on and if he should have to wait his turn wen Tom's interim belt holder OR wats the point of the interim title
jones how many epic wins? aspinall how many epic wins....? ASpinall too new and needs like 5 more top 10 wins to even get to think to fight JON in my opinion...everytime a new good fighter comes up you all think can beat jones...jones proved you all wrong for 20 years...so strfu...the goat does what the goat wants...he earned it.
The main reason I became a UFC fan was because they make the best fight the best and there was very little ducking going on when it came to the belts. Also, many fighters gave up their belts when they got injuries in order not to hold the division up. So it’s really disappointing that the UFC is allowing Jones to hold up the division for many months to recover from his injury and then to have him fight Stipic when Stipic hasn’t fought for years and is no way the top contender. Aspinall should be the guy Jones fights next. So we all know what’s going on and it absolutely sucks. It’s not fair on Aspinall and all the other fighters who fight regularly but have to wait in line for their shot at the title. I never thought I’d see the UFC corrupt the very rules that made them a great fighting organisation. Stipic and Jones are past it and I don’t think could beat Aspinall. Yet we’re never going to see them try because they’ll both retire rather than fight him. It is not fair and as a fight fan, I want to see the best fight the best.
Why would jones ever want to ever fight nganou?....he fought like 3 times never fought a tp 5 contender but you want the champ goat to fight him because why?....then nganou leaves a year later for money...the GOAT fights who the GOAT wants...f you noobs wanting....
I don’t think Jon is ducking Tom at all. Jones has always been about the money, not legacy as he now claims. The UFC is doing all it can to promote this fight for a big payday. They can’t stop talking about a potential Jon-Tom match up. Jones is waiting for the money to match the hype and then he will fight Tom, beat him, and then retire.

Jon Jones is too smart and has too much instinct for self preservation to get in the ring with Tom. Tom is an undeniable force and I honestly believe he will smoke Jon in under one round. He is just too big and too fast and too talented. I don't see a man on the horizon who can realistically offer him any real challenge whatsoever.

He'll be at the top of the rankings for a very long time champion or not
He done Curtis with a HALF JAB!!!!!
Tbf Curtis did try to step in and Tom was stepping in at the same time, and that jab was so fast they had to slow it down on the replay for anyone to even see it 😂. The fact that Tom is that fast and he’s a heavyweight is actually pretty remarkable. I can’t remember a heavyweight ever that could move like him, or had the timing he does.

Tom is the FUTURE. He is amazing! Any respect I had for JJ went a couple of years ago. The guy ran from Ngannou and now he is running from Tom.
