A classic from my childhood! These movies mean so much to my mom and me (almost as much as 28 Days Later.) And Jessica, you eat whatever, whenever you want! All reactors do it.
We actually dropped into the Walkabout Creek Hotel for a beer a couple of weeks ago when travelling through that area. Although the film is set in the Northern Territory the pub where they shot those scenes is in a little town called McKinley in outback Queensland. In the front yard of the hotel there are also other movie props such as the old hunting truck. There are only a few people who live in McKinley permanently but the annual rodeo was being advertised so no doubt the population would increase a 1000 fold while it was on.. The hotel is a must visit for Aussies like us when passing through that area especially those who were around when those Croc movies were released. Great review some of the old lines may have become a bit well worn like that aint a knife but I think the Aussie humour still comes through.
This is a classic romantic comedy that is still as funny as ever. I saw this in the theater when it came out, and the whole theater burst into cheers and applause at the ending, probably the greatest final scene ever in a romantic comedy. Paul Hogan became known in the U.S. for a very popular series of commercials he did for the Australia Tourism Board. He presented the same sort of character, a super-friendly regular guy who invited you to visit him in Australia. He capitalized on that popularity to make this movie. He and his co-star actually got married after the movie was made.

The chemistry was real. After starring together in Crocodile Dundee II, which was also a huge hit you might want to check out if you're looking for more, Paul Hogan and Linda Kozlowski married. Unfortunately Hogan was never able to replicate the success of Crocodile Dundee and Crocodile Dundee II, starring in a series of flops (including Crocodile Dundee III actually). He was actually a huge TV star in Australia before and after his Hollywood ventures, so he did okay nonetheless.
Personally I liked 3. Sure wasn't as good as 1 or 2 but I've never seen a movie that has a sequel decades later that is as good as the originals. Remakes maybe but not sequels. But all in all it's not bad.
"The Ripple Effect" every little thing you do, good or bad, changes how other people conduct themselves. Wether you smile at a random stranger or flip them off. It has countless possible outcomes. So be nice!
This movie was huge back in the day. I’m a Kiwi and I remember going to the cinema to watch this with my parents back in the 80’s. The soundtrack is in my mind forever. Ohh to turn back time 🥲
As a then young Australian who first really started going overseas mainly to the USA just when this movie came out - it really put our country, culture, humour and spirit on the map is such a great way. Is was so much fun touring the world as an Aussie just after the release of this film - we were always so welcome in bars and folk loved to have a drink with us! Loved your reaction to this classic feel good film - well done!!!
When I saw that you two were watching this I knew that I had to see this 19:23, you did not disappoint but I must say for a second there I was concerned you hurt yourselves. 😱❤ You guys are great keep up the adventure and enjoy some more films.
So..."throw another shrimp on the barbie" comes from a TV commercial with Paul Hogan (Croc Dundee). Thing is "shrimp" isn't a word in Aussie English. "Prawns" is the word. One of dearest friends is Aussie and she has no issue with this film...except that her entire life everyone quotes it at her. She's soft-spoken, kind-hearted, shy even...but when anyone says to her "that's not a knife" or "throw a shrimp..." her eyes fill with blood and a stream of raging, dirty vitriol explodes from her at the offender in question. 😂🤣🤣🤣 Fantastic reaction, yall. And thank you *SO* much for the shout out at the start! That warmed my heart today!
Ah, "Prawns", not "Shrimp." I quoted the shrimp line from "Dumb and Dumber." Haha, tired of the "that's not a knife" line. Happy to hear that we could "warm" your heart! (:
@@BossMovieReactions You weren't wrong, Mike! The 80's ad _said_ "shrimp" (which Dumb is referencing). Hogan was told to say "shrimp" instead because Americans don't know what a prawn is. And thus it became a silly, inaccurate yet ubiquitous Thing. Life is strange and stupid and magical, ain't it?
Putting a link in a YTube comment tends to get deleted cause of Spam I suppose. So I won't do that. If you care: ytube "hogan shrimp on the barbie" and the original commercial comes right up.
When I moved back to America (half aus half usa) in 96 everyone kept saying, to me “It’s Australian for beer” in heavy accent. Apparently Fosters beer had had a massive hold on the american market and has been campaigning Americans since Hogan’s early days, that Australians drink a lot of Fosters. I was amazed to see it available in american supermarkets and told an Australian friend how amazed I was. He replied, “I saw a Fosters can in the gutter the other day and was amazed someone had drunk that”, as it’s considered twrrible in Aus. The fact that Australia is one of the greatest beer producer/consumers in the world and an american-brewed Fosters is all the representation Australia has in the American beermarket, is ridiculous.
Forget what someone like that says they have nothing but negative energy love ya channel and both of y’all reactions…I always cry at movies before my wife too lol stay happy and blessed guys and also to subs 😊
I love the Boss community. 🧡 I enjoy reading the many kind & insightful comments from fellow viewers. It’s a shame that there always ends up being one or two rotten apples in the barrel, though. Whoever made that “disgusting “ comment only serves to remind us that no matter how wonderful something (or someone) is- there’s always gonna be somebody out there who -finds- looks for something to complain about. 🤦🏾♀️ Jessica, you are fabulous. Keep doing you! 💙
Thanks for your encouraging words. Yeah, some people are just a bit crazy, I (Mike) was being called "terrible", a "traitor" and even a "racist" etc. I don't know what those people smoke, but it's definitely not helping their intelligence. We're grateful for people like YOU!! (:
Oh, some reactors "pause" the movie? I didn't know. I always make sure that the movie continues without losing any important parts or information, it just flows better... I actually spend a tremendous amount of time making sure we're not talking over "important" parts, that's one reason why our editing takes so much longer, but it's worth it. Thanks! (:
Are you kidding me ???? We eat when watching you guys !!!! One of our favorite couples channel promotes their saying with "Make sure you have your favorite snack, your favorite drink and your favorite blanket." Wasn't the concession stand the best part of "date night" at the theater??
Yeah, well, I guess nobody can SEE the audience eating, but you're right, whoever complained about it can kick rocks as another audience member just said. ((:
Very nice reaction to this beautiful and cute movie. I was 11 when it aired here in Germany and I went to the movies 3 times because I loved this movie so much (and still do today 😄) and later saw it several times on VHS and TV. 😊
I don't know why a reaction to this film stumbled into my feed, but the last time I saw this movie it was rented by my parents at a video store, back when I was a kid. Given how rentals used to rock, I would imagine it was six to twelve months after the flick came out in theatres. 1986 you say. Hmm... that would be back when I was eleven (maybe twelve, given the delay to rentals). I thoroughly enjoyed your reactions... both with the film itself and each other. Okay, I'll subscribe. :)
I just found you all.. And watching your introduction, how can anyone disgrace you for eating while watching a movie? We all do that. Mine is chips though
Love the reaction. Subscription added. BTW interesting bit of trivia. At the beginning of the movie you can see a bridge outside of Sue’s hotel window. That’s the Sydney Harbour Bridge and that is where Paul Hogan (Mick Dundee) started his working career as a painter and rigger painting the bridge until he entered a talent show as a joke and the rest is history. His working class roots is one of the reasons he is much beloved in Australia. Cheers from another Civil Engineering in Australia.
I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoyed revisiting Crocodile Dundee with you guys. I had a big goofy smile on my face all the way through. Mrs Boss has such an infectious laugh. What a wonderful movie this was I remember it being released and it was HUGE. They made a sequel too if you are still wanting more although in my opinion not as good as the original. Thanks once again for the time and care in the editing and for your genuine heartfelt reactions.
I'm sure your list is long, but please add Romancing the Stone, very similar romantic comedy vibe as this one that oddly enough also involves a croc/alligator. I really enjoy your reactions because I love your editing and your comments and interactions with each other. You appear quite sharp and catch things I've missed after having watched many of these movies multiple times. Plus I like when you make observations on the movie making aspects, I feel I learn something interesting. Keep up the good work, it does not go unnoticed.
Hi Carment, yes, our list has expanded to about 12 years of watch-time, but I have added your suggestion to our list as well. Thank you! Also, thanks for your kind words and the detailed feedback, that was great and made our day! (:
You two are great!!! My wife and I are hard workers like you and love movies 🍿- we appreciate your hard work. Both of you are beautiful people and are entertaining. Keep it up, we will always watch.
Jessica said, "I've *never* seen a movie allude to this..." The End is one of the *most* NY things in a movie ever. NYers will kick you when you're in the way, step on you when you're crazy, ignore you when whine... And then they'll pick you up, give you $20 , hug you when you cry, help you find True Love. NY is the nicest city in human history...that ain't got time for your s**t, tourist. Move, dammit! Dig JK Jemisin's book "The City We Became" for a lovecraftian love poem to NY.
So the last thing I watched with Yall was Close Encounters. Not trying to promote other people on your channel just saying it's not uncommon to snack while watching a movie. I have a second profile name here on RUclips and it is CEREAL KILLER! Love your reactions Mike & Jessica! An American model named Ginger Meadows visited Australia in 1987 after being inspired by this movie and was tragically killed by a 4m crocodile at the Cascade Falls. It is an interesting story to take a look at. Crocodile Dundee 2 continues the story and is well worth a look. Number 3 tries too hard. Thanks for posting! ❤
One of those films where you smile all the way, Croc 2 is also very good and well worth a watch, hope you dont mind if i sip on a glass of red wine while watching this great reaction as i would hate to upset anyone, not.
How is eating rude or disgusting? I don't undestand people anymore. Absolutely lovely and kind couple with obviously good hearts. Greetings from Finland.
Great reaction, you two 🙋♂!!! Don't know if you knew this, but Paul Hogan WAS the man who came up with the "Put another shrimp on the barbie" slogan. He started off as the tourism spokesperson for Australia (1984-1989).
I went to Perth WA in 1979. I was 18 at the time and a bit of a soft Englishman. My oldest brother moved out there when I was 8 and being a really good boxer he had earned the respect of those he knew. After helping him work on a roof all day in the blazing summer heat he decided we should visit the Tavern. It was just like the pub in this movie....full of rough Aussies. My brother had told me that if I didn't stand up to them I'd be in trouble. We walked in and my brother introduced me. This huge guy stood up and said "Fuck off ya Pommie bastard". I nearly shit myself but rembered what my brother had told me, so I walked over and got 3 inches from the guys face and told his to shut his fat ugly face. He looked at me for a few seconds and said "let me get you beer mate". From that point on I could go in there on my own and I never had to buy a single drink. 7 weeks in the best country on the planet. I wish I'd stayed there. ✌🏻❤🇬🇧
While I don't use a big bowie, i do touch up shave jobs with my knife, the electric or store blades are faster but doesn't get as close or some areas well.
@@BossMovieReactions Also lets me know when to sharpen my knives. The best store blades for me was the old Tracers that bent but they discontinued the flexing blades and the curved edge of my knives gets in closer. Mostly Victorinox but I have some others. Maybe when i finish the handle for a heavy saw backed machete I might give it a test that way, (too big to be practical other than for an edge test)
@@BossMovieReactions No German, Technically Prussian as my family moved before Otto Von Bismarck united the country. It means Stone Mason and is a cadet branch of the Hapsburgs and while not as pronounced I do have an overbite linked to the famous Hapsburg lips.
We watched this movie in the theater, together with our kids. The kids actually got a little bit scared, but in the end we all had a good experience. And please, just go ahead and take a snack while watching the movies. Grüß 👍😊😊😊
Mick mentions being from the Northern Territory. The bull was in the road but they could get around. Point is, he wasnt standing there to challenge the truck. It was the 80's the jerk boyfriend was spot on.
Well spotted guys! When I first saw this movie (nearly 40 years ago!) I commented to my mate that the sleeping buffalo was still in the way of the truck. Amazing how few people notice it!
Thanks guys, loved the reaction! A special mention of David Gulpilil who played Neville (Mick's Aboriginal friend in the bush) he was an Australian actor and dancer and Order of Australia appointee. If you would like to see more of him, I recommend these movies: Storm Boy (Both 1976 & 2018 He's in both), The Tracker (2002), Rabbit-Proof Fence (2002), Charlie's Country (2014). The latter being my top recommended.
Great reaction! Now youll just have to see CD 2. A very good sequel. Also, you really enjoyed the "fish outta water" influence and the comedy. I think you two would enjoy "Overboard" really fun movie starring Kurt Russell and Goldie Hahn, that came out in '87. Think you both would love it. Thanks for the great viewing and thanks again for sharing.
IMO, "Crocodile Dundee II" is every bit as good as this original. Funny quotes such as: "Nah, it needs garlic." "They're nearby. How do you know? Don't you smell it? Smell what, their sweat? No, Wally's aftershave." "He wants to know if we're allowed to eat these men." Check it out, to find out the context.
1st I'd like to say, never apologise for eating when watching a movie in the comfort of your own home. I would guess most people watching do, and that it's more rude for some random person to try and dictate to you what you can and can't do in your own home on your own RUclips channel. 2nd is that apparently the character of crocodile Dundee is loosely based on a real person, as a bit of trivia for you.
Thank you for your reviews. I love watching the movies i loved with you all. Thank you so much for your time. and F--- it Eat it is real life stuff, we all have to eat, be real life people, and do life when you share your time with us.
You have to watch the second movie is the series. CROCODILE DUNDEE 2. It is even better than the first movie!!! The 2 main characters actually got married to each other after this movie. They left there previous partners to get married to each other.
Paul Hogan (Mick) and Linda Kozlowski (Sue) actually did start dating during the filming of the movie (which explains the great chemistry). In 1990 the two got married. Paul got the idea got the idea of walking across the train travellers from the Australian Kelpie Sheepdog. They walk across the back of the sheep as they are herding them. It's quite impressive to see.
Yep, I learned about their marriage and about the sheepdogs from you guys. As a filmmaker, I would have included a scene where Sue watches sheepdogs doing exactly that!! It would have been fun for the audience to see and it would've made the last scene even MORE special. Thanks for watching! (:
Another good reaction from you guys. This is one of my favorite channels. Not a lot of over-the-top animation or excessive dialogue. Just reacting in the moment.
The boomerang did originate in Australia. But it's more commonly called a "kiley" or "rabbit stick. Real ones don't return though. Instead, they have one protracted arm to throw it further , and a flat underside to sustain long distance flight. We adopted them in Kentucky around 1870 to hunt flocks of duck, pheasant and rabbit. But the Aussies still use them to hunt flocks of cockatoo, fruit bats, rodents, and medium size marsupials. A lot of Assuies came to Appalachia post Civil War, and we still have a lot of shared culture and tools today. Some of my best friends are Assuie descended.
Interesting stuff, thanks for sharing. I did a bit of research about Boomerangs and Kangaroos etc., which I'm talking about in my "Afterthoughts" video (ruclips.net/video/28YF5ijR30o/видео.htmlsi=pzeFqUlqIHldiDir) (:
Hoges applied his top rating comedy formula to croc dundee. His comedy sketches were always trying to impress a girl and being caught faking or putting his foot in it and coming out smelling of roses, via various invented characters. Croc is his movie length version of the same comedy.
@@BossMovieReactions You guys are great !!!! I LOVE THIS MOVIE....Can hardly wait !! And Iwas referring to others who say they loved this movie. In Australia, sheepdogs will often walk on the backs of a flock a sheep as a quick way to get to the front of the flock. This is what Dundee did at the end of the movie.

Thanks for doing this one. 1. I first saw this when it first hit pay cable. The second one isn't as good. 2. Nice to have an amiable protagonist. 3. Fish in a barrel.😁😈 4. The second one is good, but I liked this one better. That said, without a spoiler, kudos to the guy that plays the heavy.
I’m not sure I agree with that actually. It is a tried and tested romantic comedy formula to have the douchebag fiancé as a villain. I will say, Mrs. Doubtfire, is a rare example in the opposite direction, where Pierce Brosnan is so handsome and rich and perfect that it makes him even more threatening as a foil.
With Mick Dundee's gender verification technique, the phrase 'Down Under' took on a whole new meaning😁

Thanks for sharing. I put Dundee 2 on our list! (:
They were married 1990 -2014.
Personally I liked 3. Sure wasn't as good as 1 or 2 but I've never seen a movie that has a sequel decades later that is as good as the originals. Remakes maybe but not sequels. But all in all it's not bad.

Oh, boy, yeah, Jessica jumped big time!! LOL. Thanks for watching, Dundee 2 is coming up! (:
I absolutely love the ending scene, how the music rises to an ultimate good ending. Thank you for the lovely reaction.
Yeah, that was epic!! (:
So..."throw another shrimp on the barbie" comes from a TV commercial with Paul Hogan (Croc Dundee). Thing is "shrimp" isn't a word in Aussie English. "Prawns" is the word.
One of dearest friends is Aussie and she has no issue with this film...except that her entire life everyone quotes it at her. She's soft-spoken, kind-hearted, shy even...but when anyone says to her "that's not a knife" or "throw a shrimp..." her eyes fill with blood and a stream of raging, dirty vitriol explodes from her at the offender in question. 😂🤣🤣🤣
Fantastic reaction, yall.
@@gggooding Haha, okay, I looked it up and saw it. I had no idea. Thanks for that! (:
He's not exaggerating about the length of the croc. This is a scene where he is being truthful... except for the barramundi fishing.

I enjoy reading the many kind & insightful comments from fellow viewers. It’s a shame that there always ends up being one or two rotten apples in the barrel, though.
Whoever made that “disgusting “ comment only serves to remind us that no matter how wonderful something (or someone) is- there’s always gonna be somebody out there who -finds- looks for something to complain about. 🤦🏾♀️

Oh, some reactors "pause" the movie? I didn't know. I always make sure that the movie continues without losing any important parts or information, it just flows better... I don't know why a reaction to this film stumbled into my feed, but the last time I saw this movie it was rented by my parents at a video store, back when I was a kid. Given how rentals used to rock, I would imagine it was six to twelve months after the flick came out in theatres. 1986 you say.

@@BossMovieReactionsWho do I have to kill?!🤬😉”Traitor” and “racist”? Where do they get that shit? They’ve obviously never seen or heard u, or they’d know how ignorant those words are.
@@BossMovieReactionswho do I have to “unalive”?!🤬😈😉People are freakin nuts, to think u’r racist, traitor or anything negative ..let alone say it aloud . Ignore the haters& rock on🤘
@@heathertucker4360 Haha, yeah, some of those people are a bit crazy in their heads... I guess they feel brave typing that kind of stuff on their keyboards...lol. The price they have to pay is their own unhappiness and we don't have time for that. This is the week of the film festival and we'll be releasing a "special" video on Saturday about our experience. Stay tuned and thanks for your support! (:
Mike has the measure of Mr. Dundee from the start - well done! The idea was to avoid the water-buffalo's attack (at 11:25); it is unlikely that it would behave like a cow. Mostly, the filming took place in Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory.
Hello Caambrinus, thanks for watching and sharing some info. We appreciate it! (:
I just recently discovered reaction channels. I never thought that they would entertain me if someone had ever told me of them. But I love peoples reactions to music, movies, sports, it’s just awesome. I am only a few seconds or so into your reaction of Crocodile Dundee, and I already know I’m going to like it. Even if you don’t care for the movie, because not everybody has the same taste. Try not to read negative comments. They can only depress you big time.
Hi Karen, we're so happy you found us. Welcome!! And yes, I agree, I also never thought it would be entertaining to watch other people watch movies, etc., but when I saw it the first time, I quickly understood. We're so happy that we can bring entertainment to all kinds of people, from movie fans and movie buffs to truck drivers who are on the road, disabled people who are stuck at home, people who are having a bad day, veterans who are alone, etc., etc. -- Enjoy!! (:
Paul CROCODILE DUNDEE Hogan was a minor sensation after the movies release. He made the rounds of all the talk shows etc. All things australian was in vogue. I remember he was spotted in a TV commercial and movie execs saw his potential .
Thanks for sharing! Just finished editing Dundee 2 for tomorrow's release. (:
Thanks for doing this one.
1. I first saw this when it first hit pay cable. The second one isn't as good.
2. Nice to have an amiable protagonist.
3. When I was in the US Navy my battlegroup visited Sydney. In the nightclubs the women would be dancing with each other, and the men would be in the back drinking each other the table. Nice. Fish in a barrel.😁😈
4. The second one is good, but I liked this one better. That said, without a spoiler, kudos to the guy that plays the heavy.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, William. And thanks for your service!! (:
Haha its true.
We Aussies cannot dance unfortunately
@@craigmerritt8503 We appreciated that.
9:27.. they started in Walkabout Creek Australia. It’s a real place.
Yes, some peeps told me about that place! Good stuff! (:
I’m not sure I agree with that actually. It is a tried and tested romantic comedy formula to have the douchebag fiancé as a villain. I will say, Mrs. Doubtfire, is a rare example in the opposite direction, where Pierce Brosnan is so handsome and rich and perfect that it makes him even more threatening as a foil.
Well, yes, I guess it can work either way. Looking forward to Mrs. Doubtfire. Thanks for watching! (:
