I'm the guy that suggested you do the bolt disassembly and cleaning. Thanks for doing this. If your Q-Tips are too big to fit into the firing pin channel, use pipe cleaners. They have a wire in the middle and there is no tip to break off and get stuck in the deep hole. There are several types you can get; some are just soft material, and others have a stiff bristle wrapped around the wire if there is some scrapping action required. If the fit is too loose in the hole just twist 2 or 3 together until you get a tight fit. You can get these in a smoke shop, or a hobby store, or Walmart in the hobby section. They also come in colors if that floats your boat!
Solid suggestions all across the board and thank you! Yup, I typed pipe cleaners in the video but didn't verbally mention them. They will work great.
One tip for people, especially new people, get one or several of those magnetic trays from the auto section or auto store are great for keeping pins and screws from wondering off.
I seem to recall seeing in another video that if you apply pressure rearward on the boltface then those 2 retaining pins should pretty much fall out. Good video.
Yup! I have two of them down in my garage and need to bring those little trays up and you are correct about the bolt face, rearward pressure will make those bolts fall out and also easier to go back in on the re assembly.
Apologies for the out of focus scenes and off angle shots, working around the tripod was a bit akward on this one combined with close up shots.
It happens.
the two wee pins holding the bolt face in place are under tension. if you depress the bolt face prior to inverting the unit, those pins WILL fall out on their own (instead of being pried out with the screwdriver).
Yup!
Im glad i found this video im going to clean my new ruger carbine pc for the first time
Thanks for watching!
watch out for the little pin they dont tell you about that will be lying there when you pick it up to put it back together it goes in to make the bolt lock back work also gun parts have names they are not little guys it would help us because we have not torn the thing down and put it back together a dozen times but it looks like i am going to have start doing that now it wont be the first time i have had to do this
Best detailed video I have seen thanks piece of cake
Thanks!
I usually just blast out the firing pin channel with carb cleaner, and then usually a Q-tip sometimes you have to pull most of the cotton off the Q-tip
Good idea!
Great follow up video, thanks again 👍
Thanks for checking it out!
Looks like a bolt from a cobray mac11 I used to own
Good video. I've replaced the OEM extractor and buffer plate with ones from M*CARBO but never disassembled the bolt head, bolt weight & firing pin. I'll do that this weekend B/C after 500+ rounds I'm sure it's dirty.
Right on! MCarbo makes Some solid parts!!
Try using a covid-19 swab there pretty long and thin for cleaning the Chanel for firing pin
Great cleaning video i spray the channel out with Hoppes Blast n Clean
Ahh! Good idea!
GREAT VIDEO GUY!!!!....THANK YOU!!
Thanks for watching.
FYI. Press on the bolt face, turn it over and the pins drop out.
Yup! Didn't realize the pins were under tension from the bolt face until I took it apart.
Next time u buy q tips try the one's for makeup. One end has a point and the other looks flats. They work better getting in cracks and holes than the normal q tips. I try to buy both now. Also I watch because of opinion C , I just like knowing things 😁👍
So do you get your q-tips for cleaning your firearms out of your makeup kit on your vanity?
@@Squib1911 😁 No , I used the ladies once for cleaning guns and quickly saw the benefits, so started buying my own for cleaning. You should try them.
Will do!
I worked with high school kids forever. We did lots of yo mama stuff. My response would have been, “Oh, glad you asked. Your mama showed me that.” No offense, guys. If high school boys can take it, I’m sure y’all can.
👍👍
Cleaning the Ruger PC model 19122 9mm bolt carrier group is a pain in the ass. I own the Ruger PC tactical, and love to shoot it, but hate the cleaning part.
Just the amount of dissassembly required rivals that of my hi point carbine. Its a shame it couldn't be a bit easier and less time consuming.
@@travisp11 if I had known how complicated is to clean it, I would never have gotten it.
@@v.german11b They bring a solid re-sell price. Maybe consider something in an AR pattern or AK pattern instead? I have a PSA AK-V and it is awesome.
@@travisp11 THAT one I want.
How many rounds do you recommend field stripping the PC for cleaning. Mines brand new I’m taking it to the range today. Ty for your help
I’d say 500 or so. The more you shoot it the more cleaning it will take to get it clean. I clean after every range trip.
@@travisp11 Saweeet will do Ty
Can you remove the bolt face without removing the extractor
If you push the bolt face in, those pins fall right out
Yup! Much easier than what I originally filmed.
Does anyone sell replacement bolt face?
