Thank you. My TV broke 5 years ago and thank God I didn't replace it. I started to question the info hidden in many movies too thank God... I started to question pentecostal ism too and am now orthodox and realise how immature I am. God help us
i was finding for a video that explains how an orthodox christian should entertain himself. thank you orthodox loner and thank you father seraphim rose of blessed memory!
A humble suggestion, if for some reason there has to be chants wile people are talking lower their volume. For some of us older folks who don’t have the best hearing it makes it difficult to hear what is being said & maybe it’s just me but it’s a distraction from the speaker. No offense is meant from me.

I agree with a lot of what he's saying; most of it is objectively true. However, I don't think monastics understand the every day life of the modern man... We work 10-12 shifts a day, 5-6 days a week, struggling just to get by.. It's difficult to NOT want to wind down and watch a movie or show or sports or play a video game. Granted, too much of anything is a bad thing, and these sorts of entertainments can enslave people, no doubt. I just think moderation is key. I try to take the Fr. Deacon Ananias route. I can see clear as day any messages that films and movies are trying to push, so watching them and dissecting them actually makes it even more interesting without falling for the brainwashing. I hope to eventually have a channel doing this.
@@OrthoLou That is the approach I try to take, too. I was raised without religion and loved video games. So now, I play them when I have the time, but try to not attach myself to them outside of when I’m actually playing them. I don’t always do wonderfully at that, especially if work is slow. I think Fr. Paul Trebenach had some great points about this. Ideally, I think I’ll move on from video games at some point, but I’m not at a stage where I can leave them fully behind.
When the musical anthems at our American political rallies include "the YMCA" you know something is missing from our civilzation...we cannot make America great again. We need to beg God to make America Orthodox.

i think people overestimate themselves that you can watch them without being affected. you dont know really what the effect really is of those things. If we want to seriously follow the Creator those things have to go. otherwise we are lukewarm or not genuine believers.
@nicechock If that's how you feel, fine. I know I'm genuinely a believer. God will judge us in the end. If you're able to fill your entire day with prayer and reading lives of the saints, or have other exciting and fruitful hobbies (I'm stuck in a city so I currently do not), then more power to you. We'll find out if you're right at the end of the age But yeah, as I mentioned.. My take came from actual clergy, so...
Why put a background music? I get it, its orthodox chants but the quality is as bad as it is and hardly distinguishable.. why make it harder, forgive me but it also takes away from the importance of the word
Of course it's your channel but I would kindly and humbly suggest that the chanting under the voice fade out or, at least, lower the volume more. I love chant. But it becomes a distraction. It affects, at least for me, the importance of the message that Blessed Seraphim Rose presents. Thank you dear brother! Forgive me a sinner...
There's another channel called orthodox wisdom where he plays a series of lectures Fr Seraphim gave called "the orthodox survival course" I believe this audio is from those lectures, which you can also find on RUclips. If ☦️
Fr Seraphims audio on most of his captured recordings is of a very low quality and full of ambient noise. Adding music in the background is a big mistake. This audio should be as clear as possible for the viewers sake. My opinion. Thanks
Anyone know of a different platform to watch videos of this kind? I would much rather watch ads for something meaningful rather than a “viral video game” or real estate license seminar.
Just goes to show TV, internet, games, etc are not inherently evil and can/should be used for good. As a convert I've experienced this mentality when it comes to anything remotely against or in a grey area toward the online Orthodox status quo. It therefore becomes less about making edifying decisions, and more about purposefully making your life miserable to achieve good graces. It is a pitfall I'm ashamed to admit that I will continue to fall in... also sorry for the rant.

Please remove the chanting, it makes the lecture impossible to listen.
Americans are so lucky to come from a country that had a Saint like St Seraphim Rose ☦️
Blessed Fr Seraphim Rose. He is going to be canonized I believe. He is truly amazing.
loved by the people in the west and east
I didn't even realize he hasn't been canonized yet. He is already often referred to as St. Seraphim Rose here in America.
iirc he is already canonized by the Church of Georgia

What is the solution to the nihilism of modern society? Would we have to destroy technology?
We should free ourselves from it and use it to spread the gospel.
@OrthodoxLoner How is possible to do both..?
@OrthoLou Follow Orthodox content, learn about God and art. And once you gather enough books and knowledge you won't be nedding online world as much.

Just watch on the Brave browser with the Adblock Plus extension and you'll never see another ad on YT again.
Is it because it's not as fun?
Watch it on a PC with an adblocker, eg the Brave browser, or Firefox with the uBlock extension installed.
