    So no fun, eh? Kinda sounds like a cult member to me. In fact, he kinda sounds like a socialist. My family is ukrainian orthodox, and all four of my grandparents were born in the 1920's. That means they lived through the holodomor, and the second world.i don't remember them extolling any of these virtues, but i do remember them warning me about people like this guy. After all of the horror they went through, one of the only things they could do to enjoy themselves, was to sit around a table with their old friends, have a drink and a meal, and then sing old songs and have FUN.

    • @OrthodoxLoner
      @OrthodoxLoner 2 дня назад

      @Deano_Marty He literally said it is okay to go to lunch with friends, but not to watch TV endlessly. Some Orthodox churches still have agape meal after liturgy where people talk with each other or listen to the priests teachings.

      @@OrthodoxLoner with all due respect, does this man sound like somebody who enjoys life? From my limited exposure to him, he kinda sounds like somebody who despises others, and likes to sit on a moral high horse and lecture everybody. The orthodox priest at my church growing up was a kind, loving man with a wonderful family. The man in the video seems to be stuck on the old catholic mentality of being miserable and angry, and focusing on the pain and suffering of Jesus, instead of all the things that he said, like "love thy neighbour", and "turn the other cheek." Why can't we just be good to one and other? Why do we need strict rules, and overbearing authority figures to know how to be decent human beings? On top of that, these expectations that he has are based on the way people used to live centuries ago. People who lived hand to mouth, who didn't own the land they lived on or farmed, who didn't read or write or know much about the world outside of their village. More and more people are turning away from the good aspects of religion in our modern world, and any and all good that people can still take from it is being distorted not only by modern weirdos who can't tell the difference between up and down, but also the old guard that refuses to change. I myself am not religious in any way shape or form, but i can still respect, learn from, and get along with Christians. If we don't have Christianity, the common person on the street is far more likely to fill that void with marxism, environmental extremism, or even this weird gender insanity as their new religion. Sorry for ranting @OrthodoxLoner , i just had to get this off my chest. It's been bugging me for a while, and i would like to think that we could get along just fine in a real conversation. Also, thanks for making videos. Peace

    They noticed in OT Bible two different "kind's of messiah" having different characters, behavior, etc. and thus invented "Messiah ben David" and "Messiah ben Joseph" accordingly. What they did not figure out those "two messiah's" actually being two comings of the same One Messiah, first one in which He came in as Meek Servant, while second one is supposed to be as a Ruling King. Pity.

    *The Fall* 0:01 The Fall, allegory or history? 0:51 Genesis 3:1 begins... 1:09 St John Chrysostom says... 3:01 St Ambrose writes... 4:06 Breaking The Only Commandment given to them. 4:29 The Untested Nature of Their Virtue. 5:25 St Ambrose writes... Eve knew The Commandment indirectly. *Man desired the fruit of the tree, despite knowing God's against such a desire* (Don't eat of that 1 and only tree of The Knowledge of Good and Evil in the Garden)* 6:13 Due to The Heart of Man's Own Desire. 7:08 St John Chrysostom says... disobedience deprived them of Grace from On High. 7:54 "Their eyes were opened" understand this to means that God gave them to feel their nakedness and the loss of the glory which they had enjoyed before their eating. *God hastens to Adam & Eve to treat the wound* 9:29 God 10:20 "Adam, where art thou?" you've forsakened eternal life. *Man self-justified rather than repented.* 11:20 St John Chrysostom writes... 14:02 (The First Man and First Woman lacked Humility when informed with their transgression by their Loving Father.) *The Serpent* 15:50 The Serpent may have stood upright, and then thereafter the curse is put on him, he must move on his belly from now on. 16:45 Instinctive reaction against snakes. *Repentance overcomes sin* 17:02 19th Century Orthodox Commentary says... 19:25 The Lord is Meek in punishing Eve. "Therefore so that you may not be given over to yet greater self-will..." (what could that mean?) 20:24 Failure to use equality and honor, she is made to learn to be a good subject to her husband. *God Curses Adam, for Adam's own good* 20:50 Adam is now subject to death. 22:09 Death was a good punishment. *Heaven and Paradise, "Many Mansions"* 22:45 "The Meek will inherit The Earth." 23:33 "What was meant to be will be again." 23:58 The Righteous People who died now, we can only go off of a few visions of some people, probably in heaven. We're not told in detail. Canonization acknowledges where Saints are. 25:18 The body is a lower element, The Devil is angry and envious, wants the lower life form human to be lowered to The Devil's low level. 26:37 When we allow ourselves to side with The Devil... *Snake Charmers in India.* 27:08 Snake Charmers in India. *"Is Satan used as a Tool by God?"* 27:56 "Is Satan used as a Tool by God?" Satan has an independent personality, causes bad, but God allows Satan to persist. God brings good out of souls who want good. 29:37 Only the man who falls away from The Grace of Christ can the Devil do anything to him at all. *Adam called his wife's name Eve* 30:33 Coats of Skin, clothed in a different kind of flesh, nature was changed after the curse. 31:27 God wants each man to become good before each man becomes Immortal. God cast out Adam from Eden to keep Adam from falling further. *The Tree and The Cross.* 32:24 The Tree and The Cross. 34:14 Canticle of The Tree. 34:49 The Second Adam was Jesus Christ. _If it's simply an allegory..._ 35:10 Modern man and this Evolution theory. 36:07 Man's direct creation by God vs "Man comes up from the lower creatures." 38:00 Mankind in the early days (no records) _Joy of All Who Sorrow_ 38:25 _Joy of All Who Sorrow_ (I skipped ahead 22 minutes, and I'm tired right now, so I apologize I couldn't get all the minutes down) 1:00:39 Paradise is meant for the dwelling of man alone. Only man dwells in Paradise, The Holy Work of God. The Royal and Ruling Dwelling of Man. Adam alone remained in Paradise. 1:01:56 Man has Dominion over The Animals. There was Love and Harmony in Paradise between man and animals.

      Peace to you. This perspective you propose exists only in the imagination, by your own admission. Whereas in reality it's the experience of those Holy people who have given themselves over to Love. So as to love people (with all their sufferings and flaws) as they exist right in front of them, and not as they imagine them, so as to escape from their flaws and problems. This takes courage and heroism. To love your enemy and those who despise you, without expecting any benefit from them. This is true love.

      He is using the Greek word, Fantasia. It has a specific understanding, as the Mother of God, the most holy Theotokos is called by st Gregory Palamas, “the embodiment of the imagitive faculty”. So the church fathers mean a specific thing when they describe avoiding fantasia. This takes getting some familiarity with the original writings and the perspective of the saints, but in a sense it seems there can be a purified form of imagination, but it is a dangerous power and if used improperly is pure fantasia, spiritual death.

    • @IonniasDeVito
      @IonniasDeVito 10 дней назад

      @@tylerswedan4742 This is a good point to bring up..the Holy Fathers teach essentially that the imagination in of itself is not evil. Because it's the weakest developed intellectual faculty of the human soul, it's the places where the evil noetic spirits (the demons) are able to overcome us through temptation and deception. So much so, it's basically like a soldier running into enemy territory without any defensive covering. If you want to fall into sinful temptation which leads you into a state of spiritual sickness, just lean on your imagination. This is why there's such a rise in mental illness and all other kinds of psychological spiritual maladies in modern Western society.

    Pope Leo IV instructs us to use three fingers. "Sign the chalice and the host with a right cross and not with circles or with a varying of the fingers, but with two fingers stretched out and the thumb hidden within them, by which the Trinity is symbolized. Take heed to make this sign rightly, for otherwise you can bless nothing."

    It's the roman catholics that do it different, since the orthodox are the ones that held the Holy Catholic Apostolic church. The roman catholics are schismatick heretics who left, it's called the great schism

      It's understandable to feel strongly about the differences between Catholicism and Orthodoxy, but labeling them as entirely different religions can be disheartening. If you claim they are so different, then you should also ask yourself: why were they united for the first thousand years of Christianity? Before the Great Schism. Catholics and Orthodox were one Church, sharing the same faith, sacraments, and traditions. The division that followed was born from historical and political tensions, not from a sudden change in the essence of faith. Both traditions still venerate the same early saints, celebrate the same foundational mysteries, and uphold the same apostolic roots. Jesus prayed for unity among His followers (John 17:21), and we should strive to reflect that. Acknowledging differences is important, but focusing solely on what divides us risks losing sight of the profound common ground we share in Christ. It's so sad to read this type of comment...

      @gldeness The pornocracy, the 3 popes, the cadaver synod, the Frankish papacy, the French papacy, the donation of constantine forgery, the pseudo symmachian forgeries, the donation of pepin, the 4th crusade, Google and look into these things please, It's not Roman, it's Holy Roman, It's not Catholic, it's papal, It's not Christianity it's a political movement of lies inspired by the devil for corruption and power Half of Roman Catholics realized this in the 1500s and rebelled against the papacy. Millions are now protestant, because of how evil the papacy was and is. Truth over Unity.

      In Antiochian tradition we place our hand palm down on the floor and pick up the cross before we put it on. Russians tend to touch the ground after putting on the cross. Either way make sure you complete your cross before starting your bow/metania
