From Rags to Riches - A Farmer's Dynasty is Born! | The Guild 3 - Part 1 (Medieval Life Sim)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 9 фев 2025
- The Guild 3 is a life simulator but set in medieval times, so it's a bit like The Sims but with peasants and the plague. We aim to create a long-lasting dynasty that will span the ages!
We begin as a humble farmer on the outskirts of London, with nothing but, oddly, a huge pile of money to his name. We build ourselves a little farmstead and hire some help, then get to work on the serious business of... jumping down wells! Producing crops from mid-air! And getting mugged by obvious robbers!
Can our new hero create a legacy that will stand the test of time and become renowned across London or will we just fade into obscurity?
NOTE: This is the Early Access version of the game.

We find ourselves in middle Europe of the year 1400. The dark middle ages, once dominated through nobles and clergy, ends and a new era begins: the age of the free cities of trading and of the free mind!
In The Guild 3 you create a family dynasty which can last for centuries. While the world around you and your dynasty rearrange itself again and again - all non-player figures make their own decisions - you have to prove your skills in handicrafts and trading, at social occasion and finally in politics and in malicious intrigues.
The Guild 3 is a unique mixture of economic simulation, strategy game, historical life simulation and role playing game in real time 3D, with atmospheric voice recording and medieval soundtrack.
The game is currently in Early Access and therefore in development. It will be regularly updated, so if you are looking for information regarding the current state please check-out the game's community hub and latest patch notes.
Upon release of the game you will be able to experience ...
... historical medieval cities and their surroundings located in central and northern Europe. Every city fully supports all 4 seasons and a day/night cycle.
... the challenges of forming, maintaining and developing a family that becomes stronger with every generation ... or if done badly vanish.
... a fight for power that requires you to excel in economics, politics and diplomacy.
... a multiplayer mode that will challenge your friendships and tests your backstabbing abilities. (Not yet available in the EA version)
... a new player in the game for power - Guilds! Join one of the famous guilds (e.g. the Alchemists Guild), support your fellows and get supported, get access to special powers of your guild and try to mold your city and whole scenario map according to your guilds philosophy!

That is splendid to hear, thank you! Also big thanks for taking the time to watch and comment, it is much appreciated.

Augsburg and Magdeburg are two big cities in Germany, both were really important in the middle ages.
I consider myself educated!
I learned about Magdeburg from Eric Flint's Ring of Fire series! :)
Heligoland is a german island but was Danish until the Napoleon war
4 years per season i whould play on 1 year per season, to enjoy your char even for longer time :D
In hindsight I would have altered this a little but it's too late now!
Thats still a thing ? Pass ...
@@TheGeekCupboard you can still alternate it to future play throughs But To be honest When was the last time you played this game?
Oh, I love that you are playing this one! One of my faves...I have lots lol! I'm sure you will do awesome!
It's an odd one, it looks like the sort of game I would most definitely enjoyed but for some reason I've never got round to any of the series.
So this is the origin of Bernard cupboard! The men lived in spirit till the age of Nuclear fallout and finally died :') what a wonderful life you had, Bernard.
Heliogoland is an island in the North Sea and used to belong to Britain in the 19th century and also during WWII. It looks a bit like you've cut off a bit of the cliffs of Dover. Look it up, the history is quite interesting. Also, awesome start!
I'll have to look it up now, it sounds interesting! It still has a silly name however...
Heligoland was German during WWII. The English surrendered the islands in 1890 under the Heligoland-Zanzibar treaty.
Bumped into this channel through the MMORPG Tycoon 2, and thus got sucked into all of this enjoyable content. ❤️

I didn't know this game and you made it very hilarious ! Love this episode, I can't wait for the next one 😂😂
This video was particularly hilarious 😆 I love your commentary! Looking forward to episode 2
Pity poor Bernard, for I'm in charge of his life!
To be honest I enjoyed the guild 2 more than what 3 seems to be promissing...but your commentary definitely ups the game ^^
A lot of people have said that Guild 2 is the definitive version, maybe I need to check it out at some point.
@@TheGeekCupboard well from what I've saw so far..Guild 3 doesn't realy increases the grafics...in Guild 2 you actually go insode the buildings. Every building. Thee interior changes acording to your upgrades and ao on. Still as you said, this game is in early acces so who knows
@@TheGeekCupboard Mostly nostalgia surrounding TG2, it's got holes in it in terms of AI, Balance and its age shows in other areas, apparently TG3 has done this better but no1 forgets TG2 either way kinda thing :p

Do you know, I'm not sure if I've ever been to Maidstone.
London is famous for its big mountains sitting next to the seaside in the south xD

The fact he didn't put the croft center of that field hurts 😂
I can't claim to know what I was doing at this point in the game! I was a proper newcomer!
This could be interesting. never played any Guild games either but I will watch you play instead!!
I wasn't sure what to expect. There's loads in there that we haven't covered, like government positions and guilds (obviously) so we're in for a fun ride!
Another great video bro
Glad you liked it, thanks for watching!
The Cupboards need to be carpenters. They make cupboards
Disappointingly I don't think you can make cupboards. Carts yes but not cupboards.
i always choose the skull lol fun like a necromancer logo hahah >:)

Rick Stein plays Guild!!! Needs more fish recipes!

Would really like to see how Bernard gets on, looks like an interesting game.
It's got a lot going on, we've only just scratched the surface!
Wow thanks for the reply :) can't wait to watch you play some more.
You don't need to thank me for replying, I should be thanking you for commenting and watching the video!
Well in that case, keep up the good work Mr Cupboard, I like your content and the narration has a fun and relaxing tone, I've actually started the Rimworld playlist in the meantime while I await the further adventures of Bernard :)
You just sold a copy of The Guild - Nice Video!

May i kindly request your assistance, into the possibility and process of you making more videos and content on this game? I need some tips and help please lol. Its mainly due to the fact i litterly just bought the game and im genuinely confused and the tutroial is uhhh umm whats the word for it? Interesting? Yeah ill go with that word interesting please and thank you
I completely agree with you that the tutorial is... limited!
And we do have three series of The Guild 3 on the channel. Two are cut short by pesky game upgrades destroying the save files but there's quite a lengthy third playthrough in Sweden, maybe take a look at that one for tips and assistance!
thanks for the funny video! :)
I used to play the 1st one. Great game imo.
This is my first Guild game, although I was aware of them I just never played them.
You need to do a new series. Grave digger and robber or something of the sort
There are four series of The Guild 3 on the channel (although some come to a quick end due to save game incompatibility), give one of those a go!
Bernard's age:
1400-1404: 18+4=22, fine.
1404-1408: 22+4=25. Wait what?
Maybe numbers were different in the late middle ages.
Or maybe Bernard just lied about his age!
Little did you know when you tasked Baldwin with the task of getting water he was following in the pathetic footsteps of Baldwin’s in the past present and future like the Baldwin of blackadder you too tasked your Baldwin with something that even a sausage skin would be able to achieve however Baldwin is Baldwin.
I'm with you in your intent but the name you're after is Baldrick, not Baldwin. However your point is still valid!
Also Arnold Rimmer mentioning Blackadder, it's two of my favourite sitcoms combined into one comment!
The Geek Cupboard the intent was solid but the delivery not so much 🤣 & one of the best as long as you don’t count the newest episodes 🚢
I thought my hairy intimate body part would be enough, now I know where I have failed. I need more hairy body parts and flowers, how will anyone be able to tell the difference between me and a freaking bush?
Have you ever taken a color blindness test? At 19:58 you call the street color "bright blue", but it's clearly bright green.
No, it's just one of those things that happens whilst recording! I'm sure my brain registered it as green but for whatever reason I said it was blue.
I may get this or the guild 2: Renascence I was wondering if it's possible to juggle two playstyles at once like start off with a Humble Farmer/Baker. Who marries a rouge and maybe use the rouge system to set up black markets and taverns while having a person like the farmer have no idea of those sorts of dealings while indirectly using the rouge to 'open doors' in a way for the farmer by black mailing or assaulting the competition.
If so the dynasty system could be fun, having secret dealings in the family an heir could be the head of rouges while another child could still progress in more honest works to the point that the two sides of the family could be at odds with itself, top in some poltical maddness. I tried the guild 2R before was a lot to manage at first but it seemed like that was do-able.
Heligoland ... just called Hel-go-land in danish
Offcourse, then it became Le-go-land
I maybe wrong, but i think that sunflowers were brought form America.
if you cant use space bar to create the space between words you could try the righ arrow key maybe that would work and if that fails try _ Like Cupboard_Crops
The right cursor will just move it right one, it won't add a space. The underscore is a good shout.
Bernard looks like jhon provolone
21:50ish: Having a wash before meeting with someone?
I think in those days (15th C) it was frowned upon, not the same cleanliness culture, they didn't think bathing was good. Oh, it's only 1400, my bad, 14th C.
5 bouquets of flowers? You're either thinking of getting rejected a lot or hoping on wooing a lot of ladies!
From poor fellow to sovereign in medieval times? Simply impossible.
"don't blink" upvote for the doctor who reference
Why does Gwendolyn look like me with a dress on when i was 30? Dude Gwen is 30 year old guy and can easily stand "her" ground against robbers.
I wouldn't mess with her!
@@TheGeekCupboard Hahaha indeed
OMG, this was so funny!
Bernard is in for a bit of a challenging time with me in charge of his dynasty, I suspect...
So I was looking into getting this game, when i read a review saying you can't actually go indoors or have indoor decor to your house etc.. that seems.. just so wrong. Should I just get The Guild 2 instead? General consensus is that it's just better than 3 D:
I've never played The Guild 2 but I do believe that's the case!
@@TheGeekCupboard Ok, well.. it's only like $5 on winter sale atm so I'm gonna grab it and see how it holds up xD
if you’re done with this series could you do another one but it is in a german city or at least in a different one than in England
I could give it a go!

Is Bernard a nice guy? All he's thinking about is getting out that area once he get more people to research things. Old bread to children is nice, ha. :)
He is a very generous man indeed, he gives bread to poor kids! I mean, yes, his objective is clearly based on a capitalist concept but he's got a good beard.
80% of this gameplay is in slow-mo, marvelous
Does anyone know why my building Ui is different from the one shown here? I would much rather have this layout to the shadowy fullscreen version I have.

A little silly is what the geek cupboard is all about!
I like this.
Hurrah!

I played both the original guild game but also the second iteration. In my oppinion, the first game is the best of the series. It's locked in 4:3 aspect ratio, has terrible blocky grafics (Think original tomb raider type of character models) but runs rather smooth and has no babysitting of actual characters. It's a more distant management style, as you are in the birds eye view and your character only ever appears in cutscenes (which might be an overstatement for what they are). You basically manage your production buildings, do politics, learn skills, buy real estate, use intrigue and cunning plans to destroy your rivals and build up an empire, slowly buying up the entire city and getting it under your own control.
The guild two then introduced the clumsy system of your character, who has to run everywhere to do something. That's super annoying regarding that the game basically equates a day to at least a year - that means running to the market can take anywhere between 2 to 6 month of equalized time. In the original game they just implicitly stated that you can jump to any location and do all the tasks you want to immediatly because this day is just a representation of what you did this year, and the items you used or sold are representations of a productionrun on a certain item. It was a wierd concept, but made intuitive sense. The new games unfortunatly departed from this principle..
I was wondering if there are games similar to this but better lmao tried mount and blade but the same song on repeat put me off after a week
Play The Guild: Gold Edition, available on Steam. So much better than #3.
@@bigbywolfe1775 oh nice, I'll watch a gameplay thanks
I might need to take a look at that...
I've never played Mount and Blade, a few people have asked me about it.
How the hell do you carry out flannel?
You need to make it first, in your home.
Then move it from the home storage into the characters inventory.
Then select the character, click the little bag type icon from the toolbar across the bottom and use the flannel from there.
Is it Playable? Or are there bugs so it's best to wait before buying it?
Thanks!!
It's playable, certainly. Since this video was put together there's been quite a few updates to fix lots of the larger bugs!
Helgoland is the correct name of the Danish island..
So it is! I think the English name for it now is Heligoland but Wikipedia informs me that it is indeed Helgoland!

Are we talking accents, so you're implying I'm saying it funny, or the meaning of the word?
If it's the definition, it means something like a line of people from the same family.
If it's the accent then that's the fine East Midlands accent for you!
@@TheGeekCupboard your accent is just fine for the most part its just certain words get butchered just mildly funny to me
and dont get me wrong i know us americans butcher the english language more than you guys butcher your own language
Perfectly pronounced for an Englishman speaking the English language. The 'y' is pronounced the same as in symphony.
I like how you can just buy titles even if you are a filthy peasant. No idea how historically accurate this is, but i guess you could do that in real life, if you, as a peasant could somehow get a lot of income you already proved yourself as smart enough to raise higher up in hierarchy. So basically in theory your dynasty in a few generations could rise up to become a ruler, maybe even king or queen, all from being some dirty peasants a few generations ago. Doesn't that contradict the medieval belief (or more like brainwashing) that king is only chosen by god? Nah... it was always about who's got the heavier bag of gold.
Indeed. Money can't buy you happiness... except when it can!
oh my god my name
