It’s not real history. PS-1 author said it’s 80% fiction. Nandini the main character of PS-1, doesn’t exist in real life. PS-1 a novel was written in 1950, a 1000 years after cholas died. It’s a fictionary tale using Chola kings. Not Historical
History is 40% remaining 60% is fiction

This novel was written 1000 years later but it is based on the chola's inscriptions and archeological findings. Hope you understand it, it is not a documentary but it is historical-fiction. Google the meaning if you are still not able to figure it out.

Karthi is doing the role of vallavarayan vanthiya thevan. He was prince of a lost kingdom. He gets friend with karikalan so that he can get his kingdom back. Then starts all the adventure.
He loves nature, food, to admire the women in a harmless way. A courageous man, witty, a lot adventurous, fearless and hypersmart go getter that even karikalan and every others start admiring. Even daring beauty with brains, princess kundavi falls for him. Nandhini too starts melting at one point. But that isn't revealed - a super suspense, only one person found.
In 2010 a movie called Ayirathil Oruvan ( a fiction based on the escaped chola king ) came out, which was 2nd movie for karthi
And people trolled the movie like hell and made it a failure.
And now 10 years later they understood what a gem it was and praising it.
The audiance of that time were not ready for that type of story.
I am sure that people calling ps 1 trash will acknowledge this in the future.

@MensXP: Arunmozhi Varman= Ponniyan Selvan= Raja Raj Cholan built Brihadishwara Temple (Tanjore Big Temple) & his son, Rajendra Chola (Gangaikonda Chola) ruled from Bengal (banks of Ganga, hence Gangaikonda Chola) to Tanjavur (Tanjore). He built a city in Tamil Nadu called Gangaikonda Cholapuram to commemorate the victory and made it his capital which contained artificial lakes/water reservoirs.
