I'm looking forward to these comparison videos because you keep it real! This one really confirmed everything I've heard about public transit in Japan. I was leaning toward going early next year, but based on those prices I'd only be able to stay a few days, which wouldn't be worth it after such a long flight from Canada, not to mention the airfare LOL also who wants to spend so much on getting around when there's food to try and shopping to do? I'm also surprised at the AirBnB situation. 1st world problems 😢
Amanda Gordon yeaaaaa exactly I wish I had known these things when I came. U really gotta plan ahead and look into prices. If ur only traveling around Tokyo u should be just fine. Fly into HND . Airbnb is SUPER limited but they do have some ok prices “ business hotel” very small lol
You should look into capsule hotels or hostel's they have very nice places to stay and they are super affordable! Traveling in Japan may be confusing but it is really safe. If you get lost most Japanese people will be willing to help. 🙂
Going to Japan in the upcoming months, so nice to know this stuff! 😅 You're so funny girl, you kept me entertained throughout the entire video. Way easier to watch than some of the other people I've come across on the internet.
Getting lost on public transit is not a freakin joke! I was literally sitting at a bus stop in Denmark crying because I was tired of getting lost, bih. And for the longest, I didn't even know you needed to press a button to make the bus stop. Imagine ma face all the times the bus passed my stop...😯🙁😔😭 One day I watched a friend press the button to stop the bus for us and I was like....🤨😮🤯. I felt so freakin incompetent. It was Cali Girl v. Public Transit for real. At least in Denmark people spoke English and were able to help me with ease. I could not IMAGINE being lost in Japan. Get ma ass a chauffeur, sis.
@@melissamagalhaes8577 I'm fairly certain our buses do have the stop button, but public transit is not commonly used in most of the US, so I was never that familiar with buses to know. :c
This was sooo helpful. My best friend and I was stuck between Japan and Korea and you have made the decision so much easier. Lol We are traveling internationally, so we are thinking Korea is the best option.
I am Japanese . Now in Tokyo ,taxi fee is changed . It start at about 4 dollars .But be careful in other prefectures like Hokkaido, Osaka, and so on it start at 7dollars
I went to Japan for two weeks and my wallet was DRAINED. I spent so much money on transportation (and clothes 😬) tbh. Though to be fair I missed my stops several times and ended up spending more money than I needed to LOL. One night we were in Roppongi and took a taxi to Higashi- Fūchu and lets just say there were 4 of us and we all paid about 60 dollars.
They charge by how far you go in Korea too, but it's based on how far the radius is you travel from your orginal place. But yeah if I remember it's only like 10 cent extra per how far outside you go. But yeah loved the subway in Seoul. It was great. You could literally go anywhere. I will say though that in other places it's much less extensive like in Busan. I had to take so many buses ;-;
Jazzlyn H thanx for the info boo!!!! I haven’t lived there in a few years but somehow no matter how far I went around Seoul on the same line I never got charged more! That make sense tho by radius. 🤔 I wonder how far I gotta go to get charged that 10 cents
My wife just went to South Korea last year october and we just came back from Japan (tokyo). My wife did compare and she's more comfortable with tokyo commute
I have no plans of ever visiting Asia but your videos are too cool to not watch. I will just get the info from you and tell people about the places like I was there 😂
Dang it! Yeh, I want more episodes! Did you say in the Q&A you are done with this for now? I get it... hopefully more people engage with this video to make it worth your time! I feel like I'm being *called* to Japan or Korea, but also am at a weird place in my life and don't know that it would work out and AGH, so, I'm really interested in hearing more, especially since I _did_ spend some time in Japan and so feel I could use it as a reference point for the Korea comparisons (I'm so interested in SK...). Also thanks for reminding me I still need to watch Nana by showing it in that Q&A vid! :D
I just subscribed and you are hilarious and pretty! I was wondering if you can upload the rest of the videos between Japan and Korea? I'm currently researching both because I'm interested in teaching just need to research and decide where. ❤
Yesss I can finally watch this!! I love it when public transportation works and it's easy to use. $700 return from korea to USA sounds good. There are a lot of places to see in Japan. In korea I'm not so sure .. 🤔 thank you for the info!!!!!!
lmao your videos are so enjoyable, having traveled to some European countries and Dubai, Google Map has successfully navigated for me because you can actually read the words albeit not English, what happens in countries like Japan, China, Korea, etc, where its sign based how do you do it, sigh I really want to visit those countries, that picture of the Japan's tube is scary, how do I read that 😭😹.
This is such a great video and series idea! Awesome to hear it from you and looking forward to the next comparison videos 🙂👍♥️ Japan train transport is hella confusing... We could only manage a few lines ok but going anywhere a bit trickier I'm glad we had our Japanese friend with us otherwise would've gotten lost for sure! Thank God I wasn't the only one like Japan's train system isn't all it's cracked up to be. I haven't gone to Korea but the cheap taxis do make me hopeful :).

Hey Sundai! I remember u from ANTM! One of my faves! New subbie. ❤️ And yes u are right, Japan is crazy confusing and expensive. From Narita to Ikebukuro was expensive round trip. Sheesh. And let’s not talk bout them taxis! All of my money went to transportation 😪😂. Loving ur channel BTW. Gorgeous as ever. ❤️
Greetings Sundai, another great video and bean sprouts actually are good for you, however I over stand that bean sprouts doesn’t agree with your endocrine system. Thanks for sharing, your subscribers in Seoul Korea….
The Shinkansen is not the only way to travel across the prefectures. Express buses are cheaper, but the travel time is longer. Trains have information written in English too, and there are English announcements on the trains as well. Tokyo's Shinjuku Station,Tokyo Station and Shibuya station are so big that even Japanese people get lost. In such cases, please ask the station staff or people around you, and someone will surely help you. Prices in Japan are high compared to Korea, but cheap travel is also possible. Capsule hotels, Japanese fast food (Gyudon, Udon, Soba, Kaiten(conveyor belt )sushi), temples and parks, just wandering around the city is so fun. One coin($5)bars in Shibuya ,Shinjuku and Roppongi, cheap izakayas, etc.
There’s no English on a lot of BUSES and especially in the country side. Shinkansen might as well be on only way u failed to mention how those express highway busses can take so many hours! 6hours - 1 day or overnight. Some people done have that kind of time to give. Yes prices are higher in Joan compared to Korea because this is a video comparing japan to Korea. Stop tryna make japan literally perfect. No place is perfect.
You cant compare the intricacies of a train network that connects all main cities in Japan to all regional prefectures, of course they must intersect and makes the map look overwhelming but its really not. In South Korea all you need to have and know is Seoul's network and the train to Busan. Its like comparing apples and oranges.
Love this video! Just experienced walking 10min underground with luggage completely lost just to change Tokyo metro lines... Love the city though haha!
Roos Tak lmboooooo yes that sounds pretty accurate lol no one told me about the real stuff I moved here with more luggage than I could carry it was pretty interesting
Wow, I considered the trains in Tokyo really easy to navigate, like way easier than NYC subways tbh. Expensive though, yes. I also thought Tokyo had quite a great bit of English as well and was very easy to get around and such. Didn’t take taxis or the bus ever tho.
I actually didn't find the Tokyo metro confusing but that might be because I'm from Paris and the Paris metro is... SOMETHING however is was SOOO EXPENSIVE and I'm not used to that lmaooo I only pay 38e a month for transportation here in Paris (it's like $40/45 I think?) And I probably paid more than 300e in Japan for 25 days.
A very interesting video. To get first hand experience from someone who has lived it? Not very easy moving to a new town in the state's and starting from scratch? Then moving over sea's alone and making a go of thing's? Impressive! A digital journal kept documenting certian event's would make for an interesting read later in life by other's interested in who the individual was has they travel with you within the scopes of the narative and writting style?
