I swapped an 8.8 into my early fox. New diff, new gears, new axles, bearings, everything. Brought the housing to a driveline shop because the guy basically sets up gears for a living. It cost me $500 for labor but i know that it is setup perfectly and will likely never need anything other than routine maintenance. I am all for DIY, but you are now seeing(or will likely see soon) how doing a job twice (or more) really isn't saving you any $$$ at all. And takes more time, which you could be spending on other mods. More down time, replacing fluids, etc. Setting up a diff is pretty precise and requires a dial indicator to measure backlash which should be within a certain spec. The wear pattern is the result of the proper side shims as well as pinion shims. I would get a dial indicator and just keep at it until you get it correct. Otherwise you will be pulling it all apart again and possibly replacing newly ruined parts.
The backlash measured with dial indicator isn’t meant to be a specific number because you have to take casting differences/imperfections into account. The drive side of the backlash is close to the toe with room for expansion, nothing too far inward, and it might whine slightly on decel cause it’s on the heel end of the coast side although the pattern is not hanging off the edge. We will see in about a weeks time if I did it correctly
Hey I seen you from Alejandro's videos, I think what he said was funny to a certain degree but I'm sure you don't see it that way because this car seems to be your joy or motivation in life at the moment. As harsh as what Alejandro says you have to understand where he's coming from, he's been in that young guy phase just like us and knows it's a huge money pit and a waste of time. We're about the same age and I too have done things to my truck to make it faster but at some point you have to ask yourself is this what's most important in life? Unless you have a lot of money then by all means do it, on the other hand if you don't you can use that money to save for a house or save for when you really need it. Work on yourself and then the money will come to build the car more easily or get a better project car. There's a saying you have to crawl before you can walk or run. Sometimes we want to build a nice fast car but forget there's more important things in life.
I’ll tell you what I tell everyone else. What’s the point of living if you’re not happy? A “house” would not make me happy, a wife and kids would not make me happy, a healthy credit score would not make me happy, and partying every day would not make me happy. But right now, and since I was little, there has always been 1 thing that DID make me happy. I will be damned if I just “let it go”
Real shit
Love the vid, waiting on the next one. Keep up the hustle

Only here so i can follow Alejandro Flores ragging on your build
And what do you have to say so far? From what YOU have seen?
Hey bro, I’m in Houston, where you located? If you ever need any help, just let me know👍
Baytown/channelview, I’m good for now but I’ll keep in touch 👌🏻
You're putting 4:56's in a 6cyl??
No, I’m putting a v8 on 4.56’s 😂
@@Diamondsintherubble 🤣
Alex sent me here
Are you going to make your car a drag car or drift
Road race/street. Like a toned down track car, think of the racing category of like the boss 302/gt350
@@Diamondsintherubble - 4.56 gears are a bad choice for that purpose. 3:73, or even 3:50 would be a better choice.
@@jsimmonstx yeah sure, 3.55’s to go road racing with sounds like a fantastic idea! Why didn’t I think of that?
