I loved this moment of Billie Eilish singing this beautiful song. I, too, was surprised when my granddaughter played it for me, but it was truly lovely.
Billie loves old standards. She grew up listening to people like frank sinatra, Peggy Lee, Julie London (London is who I believe Billie got the inspiration from for her happier than ever album cover). Also..she is a big Beatles fan 😂 but who isn’t?!
Yes, great reaction.I enjoy your commentary very much. I think Billie sang it beautifully, and in the context of the season, most appropriately. Both she and Finneas grew up singing in the LA Children's Chorus where she was exposed to classical, contemporary, and also religious music. In interviews, she has stated that they even performed in church services. One noticeable influence of that exposure is her inspired and meticulous skill at harmonies. I would invite you to check out her release of the isolated vocal tracks to Hit me Hard and Soft for a true sense of the depth of her talent in this area. She engineers them herself.
I like that she sings it almost perfectly straight and doesn't go off on all sorts of pseudo-gospel runs that take away from the composition. My favorite version of O Holy Night is: Renée Fleming, The German Chamber Philharmonic Bremen, Trevor Pinnock - O Holy Night on her RUclips channel, but you will need a VPN for the United States to see it outside of the United States, or even for it to come up in a YT search, I believe.
I just love hearing Billie live and enjoy every concert of hers. 6 years ago I was still a unique fan of my age at their concert, now there are more and more people listening to them (I'm 52 years old). She's so much better again. Her Christmas songs on SNL are also excellent. And she also says in an interview that she sees her voice as an instrument and uses it accordingly. If you like her raw voice, I think her Tiny Desk is particularly well done. Maybe you haven't seen it yet, so a reaction from you would be really interesting. Unfortunately my written English is not that good because I come from Germany, sorry 🙈
Johan. used to hearing this sung from Libera & countless choirs .Actually, Imo one of the toughest songs to express...vocally & in so many ways. Billy is gifted no doubt and I was moved but felt it wasn't her top tier. A beautiful moment & would love for her to attempt more of this genre .She was lovely ......she was Billy. Finneas would have backed her perfectly in this shining... together !!! Love your selection of this!
Thanks for your reaction to this beautiful song. I would suggest that you react to Erik Grönwall and Tommy Johanssons versions of this song. They are both from Sweden and Tommy sing the Swedish version O Helga Natt. Two of my favourate versions of O Holy Night
Billie easily could've become a musical star too. But world star of course is better 😂 Check out her appearance in "Nightmare Before Christmas" in this context.
Hello sir my name is Jenine-Marie Buitendag and I am 17 years old. I plan to one day become a world renowned singer and realizes that I have to start now if I want to accomplish anything of that sort. I already came up with an amazing music concept but struggle writing the lyrics. I was really hoping that you can help me 🙏.
I’m begging you to react to Faouzias performance “rip love” on the singer 2024. She goes crazy with vocals and I’d love to see your reaction and your analysis . I rly hope you check it out🙏🏼
wow this girl's voice is astoundingly beautiful
