  • Update May 19 2021: VICE News produced a series of seven panels moderated by Frank Luntz from December 2017 to January 2019. Recently, it was reported that Luntz was on Ted Cruz’s reelection campaign payroll in 2018. VICE News was unaware of this affiliation, and Luntz did not disclose this information at the time of these productions.
Former President Barack Obama was in Nevada today stumping for the Democratic candidate, Jacky Rosen, in the state’s closely watched Senate race. President Trump flew in over the weekend to rally behind the Republican incumbent, Senator Dean Heller.
In a VICE News panel, Republican strategist Frank Luntz polled Nevada voters from across the political spectrum.
Going into the midterms, the top issue for Nevada voters is healthcare. But they’re also angry about the state of politics at home and in Congress. And it’s the national implications of this race that have Nevadans rallying around their respective parties.

Why do you think Americans hate the media so much? We can tell that they almost all have agendas. whether theyre agenda is good or theyre bad it generates mistrust because it feels like no matter how much we ask, we cant get non biased news. Why is that?

Taylor Brooks all I’m saying is that the person in charge of our education system is an idiot, she’s a rich ass woman who never had to use public education and or federal student aid and yet they put her in charge?? Then they cut funding, it’s this kind of stuff that makes me dislike trump, I gave him a chance but if you keep putting people in charge that are actively trying to make regress instead of progress than you ain’t doing a good job. The problem is the people in charge aren’t the average American and make policies to help the rich which are the minority, but people love to act like they might get rich one day so they think that’s ok, when in reality most of us will never be rich unless we were born into it or we were very lucky. In essence our citizens are too busy fighting each other while the rich and corrupt distract us by only focusing on one story in the news and most voters are too stupid to inform themselves. Thank god for the internet.

No worries, God won't think too kindly of your willful ignorance. St. Peter might just give you the same middle finger that you give the people whose vote are suppressed. Ironically, in spite of your undemocratic behavior, somehow you think your views should be treated with a level base level of legitimacy. Don't be so stupid Jay, don't call people a saint and then associate them with vulgar hand gestures.

What's even more shocking is the US tax payers pay more for healthcare than countries that have Universal healthcare. Then they pay a second time in insane insurance premiums. Per capita US spends almost twice the tax dollars on healthcare than Canada. Because like all things in the US healthcare is a for profit business.
GOP would never take the profits away from insurance companies and private hospitals.

Alot of people in America go to the emergency room for the stupidest shit. People take advantage of the healthcare system, The clog the system up. The economy was good under Obama. That his doing and ACA(Obama Care) didn’t raise insurance cost. It was the insurance companies that did that because of the involvement of the government. They raised it before they were going to be penalized. America do your homework. It was soon changing. Insurance companies were soon have to complied to the law, these people need to really do their homework. No one wants to tell the truth because that would give credit to Obama. It not perfect but it was better then we had. But to be mad at man for trying to give us health care is crazy. It just showed our true colors. America is racist and everyone knows that.

The economy was not doing good if you listen to Obama’s secretary on the economy said he don’t know how the economy grew 1%. Under Trump with the deregulation the economy has grown 4%. Insurance went up because the people that pay for it now had to pay for everybody that don’t. The same thing happened when the Clinton did healthcare reform in the nineties. I’m sure they all pocketed plenty of money for themselves from insurance companies on both. It didn’t get better it got worst for working people unless you call doubling in price better.

The fact you even have to debate healthcare, which most countries agree is a HUMAN RIGHT, is baffling. The politicians have succeeded in distracting you from the things that really matter. I wish I could see a way forward but it looks like things are getting worse. Almost have the country things your president is doing just fine when the world at large disagrees. That explains the fact you’re saying that the poorer cities vote democrat, because they’re getting ignored by republicans because they’re not rich.

When I’m saying these things, don’t mention corrupt politicians, because that doesn’t have to do with what I’m talking about at all, that’s a side topic that I’m not talking about.
I believe the world needs to work towards what it wants it to look like in 2100 or 2050 (invest long term because humanity lasts thousands of years), instead of having a short-sighted view and stalling that great happier future for everyone because of the greed of some

We pay our teachers so poorly compared to other jobs that only the most altruistic or the idiots become teachers. The intelligent go on to grad school, professional school, or have some pursuits that pay more. When I was in college guess what my friends did if they couldn't handle the other majors...switched to education. It's extremely unfortunate. A good friend of mine is a teacher with a masters degree who only makes $31,000/year. He went to school for 6 years to only make 31k. That's the issue. We are never going to improve public education if we do not value the teachers and create a job that intelligent people want.
Another big issue is that they hold the teachers back. They make them do a lot of unnecessary stuff instead of actually teaching them. My friend spends about 4 weeks out of the school year just teaching some sort of state test to the kids. The school wants to keep their funding, so they make the kids spend a month just learning to answer questions for that exam. It's despicable.

I enjoyed reading everyone's comments & listening to the video.
I think no matter what your political affiliation, you have to agree that the economy does better for everyone under the Democratic party especially the middle class and those below middle class. Now, before any none democratic party voters start disagreeing do your research. The reason I bring up the economy only is because most of the Republicans in the video kept mentioning the economy. Trump is only benefiting from the economy that President Obama fixed. If you disagree with President Obama fixing the economy, look at the economy when he too office in 2008 and look at it when he left in2016. This should not be debatable. & It in counterintuitive to cut taxes when the economy is doing very well. President Obama never raised taxes on the middle class nor those below middle class.
Be careful fellow Americans when you say you don't want to pay taxes. When you get old or some how become disabled and you will rely on Social Security or entitlements (for some reason has a negative connotation) and Medicaid. Of course you're entitle to money(Social Security) and Medicaid that you've paid into... Most Americans will need to use Social Security and Medicaid in their lifetime
    Be careful very careful.

Not all healthcare costs are a result of "poor lifestyle choices". Some are just unfortunate, like accidents and injuries. Others are just human nature, everyone gets old and everyone gets sick. Insurance is all about subsidizing each other, if you pay for auto insurance you've already paid for someone else's claims. I don't understand why you think it's bad for her to expect her insurance to cover her?
