This channel, actually helped me get my Hornady LNL press, running very smooth! These tools are amazing. I thought I had the Pawls adjusted right in the center of the primer and dies. I was close enough to have it move into place but wouldn’t prime. This showed me I was off on my assumption, ans now it runs so nice. Smooth priming and all dies line up perfect. God bless this man!
I just bought your tools, the whole kit. This works as described and it is a very cheap price to pay for perfection. Prior most all my issues were because of indexing and primer issues and while I could and did adjust by sight this method guaranteed me of a fast and perfect fix. Thank you Randall for your video’s to our community and this fantastic fix. I run 5 Hornady AP presses with most for specific calibers and this has helped me fine tune my machines fast and perfectly tuned.
I received my set a few days ago, press runs like a Swiss watch, glad to support a small American business and not send my money overseas. Thanks for the quality products. If you are on the fence about this, don't hesitate, it will save you time and frustration in the long run
Very nice. Newbie reloader here awaiting shipment of my Hornady Lock n Load AP. Ordered a set of these tools so they'll be here when the press arrives. Gonna have it perfectly aligned before I even put a die in it. (Also like the tip about putting a tiny paint dot on the pawl adjustment screws). Thanks.
I just received my tune up set the other day. I thought my press was in alignment from the factory until I used the tools. They made it super easy to get everything running correctly. Thanks for a very useful and well made set of alignment tools.
I am very glad that you are happy with your new tools...they take all of the guess work and complications out of properly setting up shell plate alignment and primer slide alignment and only takes minutes once you have done it the first time.
A lot of people think that once it goes into detent that it is then centered...but that is not true. The detent only gets you into the ball park, I had someone in the Hornady AP group argue this last night actually so I made a video at 2am showing how much I could manipulate the adjustment after it went into detent and posted it in the group discussion to show it all and answered their question if they were missing something?
@@bragginrightsprecisionrelo346 roger. Thank you, I ordered a set last week excited to try it. I have been fighting it on the up stroke since day one. Another question if you don't mind, but when do you think is the 9mm swage tool for the press going to be back in stock? The range my daughter shoots at has a lot of military so I end up getting more crimped brass than not, trying to keep up with her brass is killing me because I can barely get uncrimped brass.
lol thank you...I have been selling my primer slide alignment tools for about 1.5 years and sold a few thousand sets with nothing but happy customers. The new tools for properly adjusting the pawls for shell plate timing are brand new and I can only hope they help people just as much as the primer tools. They will be available on my website tomorrow Friday the 30th. I have more helpful Hornady AP press goodies in the works, soon I will move on to a different press to make helpful tools for the most common complaints
Do you find that the detent recesses are in proper alignment with the centre of the die locations? As long as the pawls consistently guide the detents into the recesses, isn't that the best you can get as far as pawl adjustment goes? They seem to disengage the gear and not actually hold the shell plate in place. How do you make an adjustment for detent recesses that are out of alignment?
The detents do not always center the plates with the dies, they get them close enough to (work) but not optimal. The shell plate timing can be fine adjusted to within a couple of thousandths of perfect , sometimes the detent balls under the shell plate are too tight and will not allow any other adjustment past factory detent , if this is the case (lightly) tap the detents from the bottom of the plate to give the plate more free play and you can get it perfect after that. Hope this helps.
@@bragginrightsprecisionrelo346I order on 11-7-23, I haven't got a shipping notice yet. I really need these tools to get my press going again. Please hurry and fill my order. Thanks.
Its been a while since I have done any reloading. One question I have. say if I adjusted a pawl adjust and primer adjust on a 9mm, can I be assured the pawl and primer adjust be the same for a 45 acp ? And how much grease (being universal) do you use on the ram? I love the referral of the primer slide spring as the dreaded spring. So right. And I am happy to say I have purchased and in my inventory a lot of your products. Thank You
As long as the hornady plates are in speck which is 99% of the time you only need to set it with one caliber. I don't use grease on my ram, I use polymer infused oil on it.
I have these tools and they are awesome. I have one suggestion for the primer slide adjustment tool. Hornady recommends having the slide to go back past center by 10 to 20 thousands. It would be nice if the tool would have that offset built in to it. I realize turning the part that drops down in to the primer slide off center on the end of the tool would make things more difficult. There is a way to adjust the slide using the tool and a caliper. I used the tool to center the slide and then make a witness mark on the slide and the track it runs in. Then use that mark to eyeball moving the slide back 10 - 20 thousands. I measure from the back of the slide to the back of the track with the calipers to fine tune the position of the slide. It's tedious but with patience it can be done.
I am happy you love the tools, as for the passing center they suggest that because by eye its near impossible to adjust the hole in the primer slide dead center of the tube base and if it passes center a little it will still work (most of the time) but if you get it the same amount shy of center it will never drop a primer. Optimal is dead center which gives the primer more time to drop at the dead point between upstroke and down stroke, this is explained in another video on my channel that is just for the primer slide tools. With our tools there is zero need to do anything adjustment aside from what the tool is designed to do, we have sold thousands of sets of them with zero complaints or returns because they work perfectly every time. There are several other inherent priming issues associated with the AP press that can cause issues...our primer slide tools simply eliminate the adjustment for centering the slide for the drop tube so the primer will drop into the slide but if your shell plate timing is off it can also issues with the primer going into the case properly which is what our plate timing tools solve among many other things. Happy Reloading my friend.
My Lyman and Lee single stage have never come out of timing. One 35 years ago and the other 20 years ago. Noooooo need for and foolery that’s breaks my bank
Gross Cost of Progressive presses and the parts and accessories along with them being extremely finicky are more than enough Incentive to stick with my bullet proof single stage
@@matthewcornelison4786 and this has what to do with our tools aside from absolutely nothing? If you are happy with your single stage presses...absolutely awesome...everyone has different needs...I personally own five different presses for 5 different needs...no one is trying to sell you anything you do not need considering our tools are not designed for the presses you own. Happy Reloading and God Bless.
Those are good tools to help with the adjustment. However I can not see that you have addressed the biggest problem I have with this press(aside from the crappy case feeder from hornady), the cases(especially tall cases) tilt inwards when they are indexed into station 5 because the retainer spring dives underneath the outer side of the rim of the case and lifts up causing the case to tilt inwards. That causes the inside half of the case mouth to collide with the mouth of the crimp die in station five. So if you place a case in the shell plate and you watch it while indexing it a full round, you will probably notice that the case tilts when indexed to station five..
Brand new product...I just added the video hours ago and I just added 15 master sets to my site that include both the the pawls adjustment tools and the primer slide adjustment tools and added 15 sets of the pawl adjustment tools alone if you already own the primer tools. Your patience is impeccable 😅
So does the detent not push it back or forward past your adjustment? Are you pushing the detent balls in further?
If the detent balls are pushing it in that tights they are set too tight and need to be backed off a little

That’s awesome question now do you have to do this for every caliber on the hornady shell plate
No...does not matter which caliber you use to time your press its good for each caliber after.
