And if we talk about Deftones I would mention them as the catalyst as they basically defined modern shoegaze sound. The real missing link is for me is Hum and especially their "You'd Prefer an Astronaut" album as Chino himself mentioned them as a key influence for both guitar tone, song structure and atmosphere. And even more interesting that even "White Pony" album cover is homage to Hum's mentioned zebra cover and even "Knife Party" is basically sped up version of "Little Dipper". I even would suggest to make a separate video about Hum themselves as along with Failure they basically created the whole modern shoegaze blueprint and influenced not only Deftones but already mentioned Defheaven, Hopesfall to the point that they key album was produced by Hum's singer and other modern bands like Teenage Wrist. Still a great video as for me it interesting and bizarre as I switched from Nu Metal listener to Shoegaze/Post-Hardcore enjoyer and musician with time.
Awesome to see the Drop Nineteens reformation.
Amazing record!

Great overview! I'm all for "aggressive escapism these days"! Thanks for the video - gotta go buy some more guitar pedals now! 😎
Thanks so much dude, that means a lot! Nothing beats aggressive escapism at home with guitar pedals! 🌀

Ok… you definitely caught my attention with that title! 🎸
Totally worth it.
HUM? STARFLYER 59? A PERFECT CIRCLE?
It’s funny loathe and freshwater are directly from the hardcore/ metalcore community
Also artists are essentially genre less these days
Land of tanks album land of talks ❤
