There are actually a few mega evolutions that don’t hurt the Pokémon. This includes Blaziken, Swampert and Sceptile who ultimately have nothing but benefits upon mega evolution. Sceptile gets a nuke tail which effects he is immune too, Blaziken is ultimately simply Blaziken 2, and Swamperf who has more bulk and much stronger. No sources canonically say these Pokémon are in any pain, and instead of surviving, are thriving.
I've noticed that, too. Just looking at their entries, you can see that Pinsir, Pidgeot, Mawile, Slowbro, and even Kangaskhan have pretty clear positive effects/reactions to Mega Evolution. As for any other pokemon capable of Mega Evolution that don't appear in the native pokedex in Alola or the Let's Go games, -- some examples being Gardevoir, Gallade, Abomasnow, and Altaria -- they just... don't have any mega entries at all to lean one way or the other.
What do you think of Lucario in this case? Sorry I’m quite obsessed with it as I really think its ability of, you know, MANIPULATING LIFE ENERGY ITSELF is vastly under looked. Back to the question, I ask because apparently Lucario was the first Pokémon (excluding Rayaquaza) to mega evolve due to its natural intumescent with aura, though that same reason also causes it to go into overload and lose itself in a brutal, all out brawl-like fighting style.
My guess is that considering pokemon can go berserk due to mega evolution, they'll probably have mega evolved wild pokemon who are suffering from this be the equivalent to the noble Pokémon. Our mc will probably be a special human who can bond with these mons and help soothe the wild energy inside them. But hey, that's just a theory.
That’s not possible. Mega Evolution can only be achieved through a very close connection between Trainer and Pokemon. Wild Pokemon obviously have no trainer and therefore can not unlock the power of mega evolution.
I heard that the Charizardite X was man made and that's why Charizard has two mega forms. There is president for mega stones being artificially created via Mewtwo's mega stones. Mewtwo itself is a man made Pokémon and as such wouldn't have a natural mega stone. If two mega stones for Mewtwo can be artificially created, then creating a second mega stone for Charizard isn't out of the question
Fun fact is that the ability Magic bounce is a hidden ability except for 3 Megas, including Absol had it gained another type combined with that ability it would have been way better.
I can understand Mewtwo (favorite Pokemon, probably completely biased take on my end.) having two Mega Evolution because, again, he's a man-made Pokemon designed to be the strongest, **two** forms for different situations is reasonable. But **CHARIZARD** is just a regular-ass Pokemon, there's no real in-universe explanation that I can think of.
I remember my dad tell me once " every good thing in the world has a cost" mega evolution perfectly describes that Yes u get a bad ass pokemon But then they are in pure suffering
But the ironic part is that these dex entries in particular could very well be false. It also seems like a desperate move to justify not bringing back mega evolution. Hell Pokémon lets go e/p contradicts the Sun/mon entries so it could very well be false/inconsistent
Also, Houndoom’s flames are literal hellfire, because they’re supposed to cause a feeling of eternal burning (unless cured), so why would Mega Houndoom not be able to handle its own fire??
This could be cool because lots of Pokémon has been released since mega evolution has been gone so we can see all the new mega evolutions for the new Pokémon
Mega Pinsir does not seem to suffer badly from Mega Evolution, as it seems Pinsir can focus the energy to its wings, granting it flight and making it happy. Perhaps Pinsir is the key to understanding how to control and use mega energy.
Just a little observation, i don't think it was the blast that created that alternate timeline, i think it was actually the start of the war itself, since it's mentioned that the war never happened in the non-Mega timeline. Besides, there're countless timelines in the Multiverse, the Ultra Ruin, the worlds where Team Raimbow Rocket leaders come from, the ones where Paradox Pokémon come from, etc...
Gen 6 is the best generation of the franchise. It’s definitely better than Gen 9. As I’m playing the game I’m looking at everything and saying “wow, X did this so much better”
I would argue the best Gen is heavily debatable since it depends on each person. BUT the Gen 6 being much better than 9, SUPER YES. Nothing has been truer than this. And that's both sad and discouraging at the same time...we need them to go back to their 3DS ideology for the next Switch Pokémon games because man, it's been rough... People could also argue the only salvageable new gen from the Switch was Arceus Legends...

Honestly, Mega Evolution has so much potential even now I have thought of so many ways of expanding it into ways that would work well in a storied medium or epic battles with unique strategies. Ash-Greninja is the closest we’ve really ever gotten to something of a unique use of this type of ability and its effective use in strategy, but I can still go on with ideas and theories.
I doubt that it would happen, but in Legends Z-A it be cool if one of our Pokémon goes berserk while in mega form, and attacks us which leads to us having to fight our own beloved Pokémon/survive against it while trying to figure out how to calm them down.
What didn't make sense for me with the whole thing with Korrina's Lucario is that Lucario had a pretty strong bond with Korrina before the whole fiasco with Mega evolving began. Hell, Korrina even considered her Lucario her "Soulmate." So, saying that the reason why Korrina's Mega Lucario lost control is because of a lack of a proper bond with his trainer doesn't add up. We even had Lysandre's Gyarados Mega evolving, which did not lose control of its form despite a much worse bond with its trainer, Team Flare's heartless leader.
Tbh this franchise contradicts itself. Why? Oh simple: they always say about bonding with the pokemon is important but what if that said pokemon has bad stats or poor ivs then you’ll have to ditch it for a different one. What’s next? Steroids
I believe it’s a combination of both experience and bond, with the experience being more important to control the power surge from mega evolution. I mean, how do you think Ash managed to get it first try despite his Lucario only being born recently? It’s probably because Ash-Greninja was good enough practice so that he was able to easily pull off the real deal. I don’t think any of Ash’s Pokemon aside from Pikachu has as strong of a bond with him as Korrina and her Lucario, so the experience has to matter more in this case, however bonds probably play a big role too.
Out of any gimmick in the 3D era, Mega Evolution is the coolest. I still prefer Pokémon without Evolution gimmicks, but this is the one I think is the most natural.
Gotta give you a sub when I saw the last part that you reached your sub goal quick. As a fellow trainer (tho I don’t make videos but I should) I hope you continue to grow bossman
I honestly thought mega evolution was form by the friendship of the Pokémon and its trainer that’s why they’re so willing to go thru an immense amount of pain just to be stronger
In the toughest battle i have ever been in, idk what am i gonna do, when the odds are stacked against me, with my back against the wall, i gotta give it my all, this is my final stand, the power is is my hands.
In the Kaloas series it was said that the very first mega Lucario was formed on the Gyms Island if my memory is correct. So maybe they found out which stones and were trying to implement them into making their Pokémon stronger for good and bad and to figure out which Pokémon can and cannot mega evolve
I know there is that one pokemon movie (with volcanion i think) where some evil guys or whatever used a different method to mega evolve some pokemon, so it can be that the research of mega evolution is made to find ways to mega evolve pokemon without the damage that it causes in the pokemon and trainer. Sinse pokemon legends arceus had the arceus phone, maybe in legends za you will have a weird amulet/item that makes mega evolving not hurt the pokemon. That would impress the guys that could mega evolve at the time, sinse their mega evolution process damaged the pokemon, and that would start a research on mega evolution, wich would eventually lead to the mega evolution that we have in gen 6 and the anime, where the pokemon doesn't get hurt( or at least as much)
Great vid! Thanks to your story on Ash's greninja, I regained my love for pokemon after viewing it as a cringe show. Now I'm binging the series and I'm remembering my experiences when I was younger. Thank you. Also can you please explain Z-moves in another video? 😅😅
Both it being harmful and neding a strong bond can be true at once For example, the Rotom dex is lying or the dex entries were based off of people forcing pokemon to mega evolve, similar to Team Rocket's radio fiasco Or the pokemon know that it will be painful(like all metamorphosis is), but they trust their trainer enough to know that it will only be temporary
If you really think about it Kyogre and groudons forms are called (Primal) meaning those forms we're probably there strength in there prime meaning that was there base forms back than (Maybe)
I have a theory for why mewtwo and charizard have 2 mega evos considering rayquaza's special organ being why he handles mega evo in the pokemon universe. It starts off by me thinking that mewtwo is a man-made pokemon and the megas are also man made but charizard never showed it's mega y in anime and x was a mega that could handle the power of mega. I think that everytime charizard mega evolves into X form he gets abit power of rayquaza's special stone that was shown in the special eps if kalos and charizard also gets the power of mega only because he is a dragon type gen 1 . Why gen? Because it's the oldest and why could mega y not come in the anime as he is not a dragon type and if he did come in anime his first mega y would be berserk
oh id think Rayquaza would be able to mega evolve at will because of Cosmic radiation since u said radiation made the evolution stones into mega stones
The lucario that stopped mega Lucario: 🗿 Mega charizard X refusing to have drawback: 🗿 Greninja Not needing Mega X: 🗿 Mewtwo and rayquaza being built different: 🗿
Main reason why megas are like these is because GF wants to discourage us from using the gimmick of a previous gen They always try to completely forget about a previous gen's gimmick so that they could advertise the newest gen..... BUT megas were SO popular that GF had to make them return in gen 7, in response GF made these new horrifying pokedex entries for the megas in gen 7 as an indirect way to discourage players from using Megas lol
Don’t get me wrong I love the designs of the mega Pokémon but I don’t think I have used it more than a few times because it never goes well and the Pokémon faints by a single attack anyway
Mega dex description perfectly shows why you shouldn’t take those dex entries seriously (especially when those outright contradict the whole bound for mega evolution to happen)
