hi again,I'm applying rn and have to choose top 3 regions. I commented before that im interested in places with rich art and music scenes. Cataluna is number one for Barcelona, but I have to choose between Madrid, Murcia, and Andalusia... I really like the idea of being near the sea in Andalusia, but am unsure if there is much going on there.
the other options I think are north, la Rioja and asturias, Pais Vasco, and extremadura -- researching these now.
I would really appreciate your input if you know anything, thanks so much

This is basically the one of the key differences between Hispanic/ Mediterranean culture as a whole; Spain, Italy, France, Greece, Hispanoamerica/LATAM(Catholic work ethic) and Protestant work ethic(USA, England etc being WASP, mainly of the Calvinist type that fuels the USA culture). Since many Hispanic countries inherited many Spanish idiosyncrasies, there is much more in common between us each other, than with Anglos or Nords. You can take a Spanish person, especially from the Andalusian region, and drop them anywhere from DR or PR to Argentina, Mexico or Colombia etc or vice versa and would feel at home, sure there are some differences but they are subtle or few in comparison to the richness and warmth in our personalities and passion. Between testimony like Natasha's or other youtubers that point this out and comparing to what Catholic historians or just historians and hispanists like Charles Coulombe, Patricio Lons, Capitan Peru, Sir John H. Elliot, Una Profe Hispanista, Tercioman, Brigada Antifraude, Curso Dandalu, Jacinta y Fortunata, Academia Play, Jonathan Ramos and much others, just solidify these facts more and more.

That's funny, because I've spent enough time with South American immigrants to know there is generally attitude and discomfort between Latin Americans and their European counterparts of shared language.
Portuguese and Brazilians are a great example, I happen to live in an area densely populated by both groups of immigrants - the common Brazilian attitude is that Portuguese are always rude and believe themselves to be superior, and the Portuguese attitudes tend to support this. I know an elderly Portuguese man who refuses to speak anything but English with Brazilians, just one cogent example.
Many Hispanic Latin Americans view the Spanish as colonizers who have tainted their indigenous heritage.
These aren't the result of North American influence, people bring these notions into this country and it all plays itself out from there.
Sorry, everything you've stated sounds like the kind of Catholic propaganda I've heard from certain hardline followers that have their own religious tinted view on every aspect of history that essentially revolves around the supremacy and great "blessing" of the "Holy" Roman Empire upon this wonderful world. Perhaps this is the difference between booklearning and actual experience with these things?

I can't believe how much I disagree with you! :-D :-D :-D ... Siesta is *the worst*. No one works close enough to home and has a relaxed enough life for siesta to make any sense. It's just an annoying way to reduce productivity and lengthen the work day. When all of the work can be done in under six hours, why does the work day need to spread from 9am to 7pm or longer? And while some of the old *recipes* may be very good, food in general here is bland and the "cheap and cheerful" culture (of other countries who shall remain nameless) has crept in and turned into chips with every meal, including tapas. Andalucia is no better or worse than anyplace else. It's as cool as anyplace else to visit, but living here has as many cons as pros. I wouldn't discourage anyone from taking a *good* job here, but I would not recommend it to everyone. Your videos, on the other hand, always have something worth learning! Thank you!

😂😂😂 You're very clever - you know your accents well! You're 100% right, I'm not any of the above, just a Canadian - with sometimes a strange accent and some odd expressions I picked up from my Brit/Aussie friends 😁 Thanks for watching Rick! :)

@@NatashaBergen I pride myself on some degree of recognizing accents. I deal with Canadians with the classic “aboot” “American” accent (which I call it being from the U.S.), French accent and English accent, e.g. Victoria, BC (love ‘me all btw). I am really blown away to hear that you are Canadian when I thought I detected either a fine Irish or Scottish brogue. I stand corrected and learn something every day! Thanks
