I fully agree. Bending, stretching and walking to a button, to activate a switch is annoying. That’s why I use Caboose Ground Throws. They really keep the wiring to a minimum 😂 Full disclosure: I did have wire up a couple of switches with Tortise’s. But, I do admire your dedication to complex wiring projects
LOL! Yes, I suppose ground throws would simplify a lot of wiring on any layout! At some point in the future I may decide to get a few certifications from the NMRA, I think I have already earned the "Electrical Engineer" cert if I wanted to apply for it. Thanks TC!
Well Dennis, this video is muy fantastico! 10x👍 I liked the way you laid out the major components at the end to show how it all goes together. Electronics aren't that mysterious, after all.🙃 Are they?🥴 As an Armchair Observer (for now) this took me from Wind-up Tinplate to DCC Krauss Maffei with Automatic Transmission, in terms of the electronics! ???What???🤔😕 Anyway, I can see that LCC is a game changer in the same way that DCC was over hard-wired layouts. LCC has become a must-have, so it's worth the effort to learn. Thank you (and the freezing weather) for taking time to walk us through this real-life practical example.🤗 🚂Lawrence
Thanks you Lawrence, I've been really happy with how the LCC has been working on the layout. No complaints. I realize it's not for everyone, but if you like electronics and are thinking of interfacing with JMRI I can't think there is a better system out there especially if you are planning on signaling too. And the RR-Cirkits Products are top notch.
@@OtterCreek You convinced me Dennis, that if I were currently building a layout, I most likely would follow your M/O (with the sole addition of route-indicating LEDs on the panel).🙂 It's just that, by the time I get that far, they may have already perfected thought-controlled, crystal-powered trains, like the ET/UFO shuttle ships of today😳... Zowie!!!😲. . . . . I'm still at🤔🚂🤗!
Great video Dennis. LCC is making more sense to me, every time you configure it. If you want 2 buttons to do the same thing, can't you just configure them to do it in the software? You would use up 2 control lines but get the job done.
Yes, you are absolute correct. That is essentially what I did, with the buttons I added to the west end. I may add some more at the south end before I put up the Fascia. We'll see.
Yes, it's possible. If I were to configure another two lines I could have buttons at either location, but there is no reason to have them near the engine yard, which is why I wanted to move them to the west end where the turnouts they control are at. I did do that with the other three buttons I added to the new panel. Thanks for watching Daryl.

Thanks so much for this, which is an introduction for me to the LCC. I know nothing about it; YET.
Glad it was helpful @Christiane069
I am terrified, you are holding a power tool in the thumbnail!!
I’m a trained professional!
😂😅😂😅😂
Excellent video. 😎👍🏼
Thanks Andrew!
Wow some nice updates Dennis. Unfortunately for me I don't understand how to work something like this. I just don't have the knowledge to be able.
Neither did I when I started lol! Thanks Chris

Amazing, are you an electrician or electrical engineer?
None of the above. Just a guy who didn't want hand throws!
Just watched (3 hrs after) I'm not a Tekkie or into electronics. More of a Two Wires, and even that I screw up. But love watching and trying to learn.
I don't consider myself a tekkie either Lynn. I really liked the idea of multiple turnouts aligning to a route with the push of one button!
good vid thanks lee
Thanks Lee!
On the first segment, could you possibly have push button switches at both ends??? (time up to 3:20ish..)
