Doubt anyone will read this but I wanted to mention. I lived about 30 minutes as the crow flies from Matinsville speedway growing up. When they raced the cup cars there I could walk out in my parent's backyard and just barely make our the roar of these V8s. You wouldn't think the sound of 30 engines could carry that far but I assure you it does.
@Tyrone Taylor Indycar growls. Small engine + turbo is the usual american open wheel formula. I saw one comment saying indycars should have v10s....nope. Indycars don't scream they growl and wail. V10 is not exactly what you think of when you think indycar. Its not the signature sound.
I wish somehow we could get all sounds together I like the howl these give off, the raspiness of the earlier cars, and the high redline (before 2018) of gen 6
Am I the only who got teary eyed listening to the engines screaming inside the turn? Sadly we rarely get to watch NASCAR live here in Argentina, but I've been raised with this stuff. Long live to the crossplane V8.
The crank it up segment was actually how I became a Nascar fan in the first place. My dad had a race on TV (my guess is that it was the 04 Daytona 500) and he turned up the volume a little bit for crank it up I was mesmerized by it. I wasn't even a year old and couldn't even walk I was so young.
Thank you so much for this, I used to watch NASCAR at this period I were a kid on Ab moteurs (France) the best V8 sound, sound like they are rockets omfg thanks
God I’ll never forget that sound to this day. I grew up in Michigan not too far from MIS and I always knew when race weekend was here. You could hear the glorious sound of those boom tubes from miles away, I’ll never forget that rumble. Nowadays when I visit on race weekend you’re lucky to see the jets or helicopters overhead.
4:50 gen 4 is the sound of my childhood I love and miss that amazing sound that roared on the track gen 4 got me into nascar and they hold a very special place in my heart.
Honestly this is why I've always preferred Fox especially as a kid when they go silent for crank it up and just hearing the engines was always nice. For me I've always loved it when they do the turn camera where its in the infield pretty much. Always ALWAYS loved it when they did that, heck I wish they do the start/finish line camera more.
I can actually make that noise because I have a gap in my two front teeth, and I'm never going to get them straightened! I miss this tone, and I wish they could bring it back, but they can't because they used carburetors and dual-exhaust pipes.
I know f1 and NASCAR fans tend to differ. But one thing I have noticed between the two fanbases is that if you were to ask which generation had the best noise for the cars, (depending on who you ask obviously) you'll most likely get answers that you heard during the 2000s and before (i.e for NASCAR, gen4 and before. and for F1, V8 and before.)
I heard that Dale Jr on Twitter said that Iracing is bringing the 2003 cars in the simulator and there putting the Daytona and Talladega Superspeedway setups on the cars
My Dad bought a surround sound for our TV specifically for these moments, I was 14 in 2001 and the whole house would vibrate. It's a shame the season started out the way it did, those times were coming to an end..
As a non nascar guy, you gotta respect how the drivers are on the limit basically all the time. You’re doing 200, you can’t just chill at that speed especially when everyone is there to win
Unless the Gen7 in 2021 sounds like this or is a bit similar on Superspeedways, you will never ever hear this sound again in NASCAR, and yes i am listening to this at like past midnight/close to 1am

I live like 30 mins from the charlotte motor speedway and sometimes you can hear the cars during the races.

Yes, yes, YES! The greatest sound ever in NASCAR! Fight me.
@@mariaampilova You're not wrong, but there's just a different feel about that angle, at Daytona's turns 3 and 4, with a full field at full song.
One of the best sounds in motorsports, right next to the v10s in f1 and CART’s passby
Agreed.
