Legend fixing his own disaster battle. Never thought I'd see the day. Goes to show that even Legend is not immune to unfavorable circumstances. But even with these circumstances, Legend will always find something that had gone unseen in previous attempts and use that to his advantage. The battle was winnable in the end, shame the campaign is over. But Legend got the last laugh and wrote out a grudge from the High Elf Book of Grudges. A last victory for the lost campaign.
Given the situation of being played in a live stream it is understandable situations are judged more rashly to not overly impede game flow. Aside from a dedicated tutorial video you can't waste half an hour to scout the battlemap for every nook and cranny and come up with the best tactics after an hour because most of your audience will have left due to boredom by then.
@@booradley6832 Tbf the US is one of the only countries that doesn't return after losing; the UK when they tried to invade Canada? No retaliation. Vietnam? No retaliation. I actually can't think of a time when the US has lost and then come back for more tbh.
Well fighting fair just doesn't win hard battles. It comes down to: Use fair traditional tactics and barely survive unless you greatly outpower the enemy, Or use cheesy tactics and win with a fraction of their force. The longer you play the more the game trains you to cheese. He doesn't always use cheesy tactics in every battle, But He is a master Rat.
this battle effectively ended his zero defeat campaign and it was his third attempt saving it after continuing his 1 defeat campaign. cheese? he set up a defensive position uphill effectively at a choke point and the second army for it's own position whilst using mobile heavy-hitters to counter the enemy artillery. this is just tactics
@@Thot-Slayer-420 I mean the cheese was that the Orcs had no reason to go to that corner. Legend was attacking, the Orcs could have sat still or at the reinforcements forcing him to leave. That you exploit the ai's inability to understand what a choke point is the cheese, its still fun, but its blatantly cheese.
As for Palworld, it's highly unlikely that Nintendo will decide to take them to court. Japan has very different laws when it comes to copyright and fair use: that's why Nintendo can sue almost anyone when it comes to Pokémon. Even a simple kid who draws a picture of Pikachu. It's also why Nintendo is seen as one of the most vehement groups when it comes to protecting its "property" (in the same way as Disney). Palworld had been in development for three years, and the company producing the game is also based in Japan. Nintendo had plenty of time to lodge a complaint, but they didn't. This is almost certainly because they have no grounds to do so (Nintendo's legal team is very competent, after all). What's more, they recently issued a statement, which although it doesn't mention Palworld, is probably related, in which they state that they will continue to do their best to protect Pokémon. Just look at the modder who had produced a Mod to convert "Pals" into Pokemons, the Mod was retired from the workshop because of Nintendo.
problem isnt the designs/textures, its the models themselves, a lot of them are straight up copies of the latest pokemon, they could get in trouble for that (and there is no way nintendo couldve know about that prior to palworlds release, so they may sue them in the future)
I like how you explain all your small miss-plays that created the lose situation and how it could probably been fixed. Love your content, glad you got back to longer and more regular streams. Good work, Legend!
I actually really like this map for that chokepoint. Also, in a few situations I have found that when ranged units aren't shooting when they should be, turning fire-at-will off and then on again fixes it for a bit. Not sure if it would have helped here but just thought I'd share
That initial defensive location did look really good, I would have for sure focused on that and set up there instead of scanning out and spotting that gorgeous choke.
glad to hear you're back on the valheim channel, i just bought palworld the other day and ive been having a blast. heres hoping palworld doesnt get copyright nuked haha
And that campaign and you redoing, and actually winning this battle that ended your streak on stream. This is basically why u are the Legend of Total War, Legend 😸
On the Herdstones battle that beastmen have. On the very left side, there is a spot at the end of the trees that you can't put any spells on or rarely target the enemy at. Even if they are in perfect range for ranged units. Which is really weird and the artillery had some major issues shooting past the wall on enemies on the other side too.
dont think ive ever respected so much as after seeing you say "i dont think it was bugged, i think i just underestimated the greenskins" during your second attempt. Really happy to see get your revenge.
Love your stuff mate. Hope you are having a good time - I hear the frustration with the game still and I feel you. Trying to not get my hopes up too much and just enjoy Old World mod (highly recommend it - ChaosRobie outdid themselves with it and it feels like the old historical total wars). Loved this play-through and hoping for some more in the future.
I would hope that Legendoftotalwar character would continue that campaign despite the loss. Doesn't even have to be a daily. I don't know, I just really enjoy putting on a long campaign on the background while I do other stuff and see the interesting parts because I suck at big campaign management and it's fun to see what can be...
The most precious lesson of this is rest! Don't go to war if you are tired! You will miss some game-changing detail and the risk of making a poor decision will be high.
From my experience the ranged targeting issues seems to be that when the target that a unit wants to shoot is obstructed they will just stand there not shooting instead of taking other open targets. Sometimes manual targeting will work, other times they just jank out and leroy into melee.
Just a wild theory, but It's like CA made the missile unit (for the lack of better word) an "Anti-friendly fire" even by 1% chance, unless you told them to fire / order every units to do so. I don't remember that happened in warhammer 2
This video is proof that even a veteran like LoTW who has thousands of hours on Total War:Warhammer can still learn and grow. Never forget to always better yourself, no matter how good you think you are at something.
Palworld is so interesting. The developers have had numerous interviews where they admit they're rather inexperienced, changed engines halfway through development and added guns (which were modeled by a convenience store worker part time) because they know people like to shoot things. And they're moved seven million copies on Steam. Goes to show that these big studios who have had no competition for so long they no longer feel the need to try can be shown up by a smaller passionate company who just want to make a good game. CA better take some notes.
so this is saving a disaster battle and u won , so u send u file to u and back to play this campaing coz now is save by u so is not defet muahaha love u bro thx for all content ? =P
It happens quite frequently that archers or any ranged unit stop shooting (or just shoot somewhat less) even tho they have a nice line of fire. Super annoying during my last Kislev campaign.

This is why I don’t like Parrdox games where the armies just throw numbers at each other. In these games how you use your troops can matter more than what you have. The terrain, army abilities, army positioning etc can change the entire battle and war.

Nintando can't sue Palworld. I mean they could but there's no legal argument there. Everything is just distinct enough that it's no IP infringement. The monsters look like pokemon, though none are similar enough to any original ones that there's an easy case, there's no names which have been copied (which is usually the easiest to build a case on). The gameplayloop borrows more from ARK, so if anything Studio wildcard would have a better case to argue copright Infringement.
Also - could you please share the save file - I bet there's a lot of us who would love to fight this battle ourselves. I mean it's a LoTW defeat so it's like a difficult quest battle from back in the day.
