WE're PROUD of you, you know and that you can have a part of something as grand as this. I guess there are still some trains runing but probably hauling coal to the power plants since everything else has died. But hope you are well and able to tip the blue hat and be your old jovial self. We're chugging along and watching the skiff of snow melt that fell night before last and was mainly gone yesterday. Such is life in the hills. Keep the steam and black smoke blowing and remain calm in the Lord! (Us'ns) here on the sawmp
It was the first of several big trip I worked. The Highlight of my career was driving the Anzac Troop Train out to Longreach and back. As well as the 150yrs of Cloncurry celebration train. I started my Railway Career in Cloncurry and to work steam over the same track as I learnt to drive was definitely a memory I will always cheerish
Hey Adrian, love your videos! I was just wondering if you know anything about how QR isn't really continuing with their Heritage Fleet? Or if that information is wrong? I have only seen 'The Yank' on loan to Southern Downs but nothing else in the past few years. I have heard murmurs around the internet that 1079 or 1089 is only going to become a static display? I am not sure of anything as I haven't been able to keep up too much as I have moved interstate. Really used to enjoy chasing them around Brissy - Toowoomba when I was younger. Thanks, Lachie
Thanks Lachie. Mate, I am about as informed as you now. I moved back to Emerald in 2020 and haven't had contact with anyone from Heritage since. I had heard that certain managers were interested to start running Steam again, but it appears that that was just fluff and wind. The Yank was on loan till it had a derailment, then it was dragged back to Ipswich. Not sure if SDSR will get it back or not. I see 1901 was out running around, but again no idea why... it was used for track inspections and google mapping before I left Brisbane. If Economics rules the day, and with all the Cross River Rail changes in Signalling... I can't see QR Heritage operating again in Brisbane City Train Network. If anything it will probably be loaned out as seems to be the current trend. More chance of seeing Mainline steam in NSW. Cheers.
