Well that was a lie😑🙄 (as in long term)
Had he kept his word so many people would have lived. His and Ruyi's relationship would have been better too. He wouldn't have been as suspicious of Ling Yunche and Ruyi. Her poisoning Ruyi's son with hallucinogenic mushrooms was the emperor's biggest source of suspicion.
I still think their relationship would have cooled, but that whole prostitute incident would not have happened.
Would Ruyi's temper have still gotten the better of her, leading to the hair cutting? Hard to say, but I would like to think she could have stayed in favor until she died.
Like so many people, the emperor didn't appreciate what he had until it was too late. By the time Yawan was exposed as the killer she was, Ruyi's love for him had died.
