Lovely Lisa!!!! Happy 2024. I just turned 73, and I agree, that we have never, ever been so distracted. Between wars, poverty, crime, inflation, our children's mental health crisis after covid. constant bombardment from social media... It's too much. These things may have been around before... but never has the world been so aware because of technology invading our every moment. So, like you... I have made my home my sanctuary. With art, candles, music, curated treasures that make my soul smile, lovely books and fragrance and flowers. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... the world according to me. I am here to join your journey! Have a beautiful, healthy, happy new year!
Happy 2024 Liane, well said! The world according to me - creating my home to be a sanctuary. Beautiful!! How do we build on this so our insides - our very soul - is in full rest - a sanctuary - wherever we are and wherever we go??? 😊
@lianeabeyta sooooo well said. I agree with every single point you made. It's going to take a whole lot of prayer. I got on my knees New Year's Eve to thank the Lord for everything and to pray that every human being gain compassion and be filled with love for one another. Then, and only then, will we move forward. In the words of Jimi Hendrix: When the power of love surpasses the love of power, the world will know ☮️ peace.
We are more distracted than ever before- at least in the middle and affluent class. Obtaining food and shelter and fighting off animals and other humans that wanted to take your food and shelter for themselves was a human’s primary and necessary focus. Now that takes up only a portion of our lives and is often delegated out to others- the farmer, the grocery store, a retirement pension, government….We just have more time and energy to get distracted!
Hello Lisa! I think the world has always been distracted; people not focusing on their purpose while being here. If we focus on glorifying God in whatever small ways we are able, we can work toward the inner peace Jesus speaks about (John 16:33). Also I have learned to focus on the lovely, good things and your channel and others bring me joy and learning. When encountering others on walks, medical appointments, restaurants, stores, etc., I try to look them in the eyes and smile. It brightens my day and I hope theirs. Too much social media and news are overwhelming and depressing. Study God’s word and pray in 2024-He has the power and answers! ❤
Love living from the inside out. Agree with Tommy that humans have always been distracted, BUT never to the level of distractions that we live with in this day and age. I remember a university professor telling me a few years ago that we have more information pass through our daily life than what once took place in a lifetime less than a hundred years ago... ...all the more reason to live an intentional life from the inside out. 😊 prayerfully, mindfully, joyfully...celebrate LIFE. 🎆💫 Happy New Year! 🎆
TMI you say Dear Marla?! 😂 Oh so so true!! Daily steps to minimize information would then seem to be a solution. How do we do this when our brains are so attracted to information!?
@@lisaemeterio as a contemplative, I am attracted to slow living and lived for 16 years without internet (except at work). It forced me to be selective with my social interactions, time limitations, reading material, etc. I also set aside one hour from 9-10pm to journal, pray, etc. At the time I lived alone and relished every moment. I now have an active household and my schedule is not a rigid, so it is a bit more difficult...BUT I do believe that carving out time - for inner work, prayer, journaling - can slow down the information craze and help create a mindful and intentional life. ✨✨✨🙏🏻✨📖✨🙌🏻✨✨✨
I really enjoy your channel. You have such a warm personality and your content is inspiring. I look forward to your content in the new year. We had a stressful 23. I realized that as I’ve gotten older my stress tolerance has lessened. I’m going to take this year to be grateful for my life and circumstances, enjoy caring for my husband, pets and our home. I’m hoping that 24 is a calm, slow year. Best wishes for a beautiful 2024.
Thank you so much Janet! I like this - calm and slow. What are the thoughts and behaviors that cultivate slowing and calmness? A question I’m going to be pondering! 🤔
Hi sweet Lisa, count me on board! We must move into this New year with positivity and purpose. It has been total dreary weather here in Michigan. The sun has only shone once in the past month or so. It is easy to let that drag us down. We.are children of the Light and must keep looking up to God our forever Light. The one big blessing of RUclips social media is it allows us to interact with people all over. It is our responsibility to use that for uplifting and positive sharing. We will all join you in that and we shall make a difference. Our Light will shine brightly! Love from Lin in Michigan ❤
Dear Lin! I have the chills - the wow chills. I’m in awe of how God works through his corroborating Presence! Just got in from a hike and posted my first Instagram, which is a photo of the sky here today… and Gods Spirit was encouraging, “Look Up ⬆️ and see the Light beyond the clouds”. And here you are echoing that powerful message. I wish I could airlift you some sunshine ☀️ today in return for your wonderful blessing! Soon Spring! 🌷
Lisa, You have been so inspirational all year. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all you’ve shared and find ways to apply those ideas in my home as well. Thank you for sharing your warm spirit, motivational insights and great design skills. May God Bless You n Yours 💞
Count me in as well. We all need to be distracted but hopefully this year the distractions will be hope filled, positive, kind, peaceful and strengthening. Peace
I like your take - shifting attention away from unhelpful, useless distractions to distractions that are beneficial and life enhancing. Peace to you 🩷.
We surely have become at least emotionally highjacked. Thats the reason I, just like you, have turned my home into my personal sanctuary and do not allow many outside influence s to disturb the peace of my home. I try to surround my self with beautiful things that make us feel good. I believe through the centuries we had similar turmoils but now days all has been magnified by the power of technology much more so we see them on an everyday basis. I enjoy your lovely videos. Continue to influence with positive vibes our world of turmoil. Happy new year to you and yours!
Well said and thank you. I see that you bought an older home on a large property - that’s so cool!!!! I’m glad to connect with you here. My intention is to provide/facilitate a sanctuary of warm connections and positive influences. 💝
Hi Lisa! My son and his family stayed for a week for Christmas and my husband and I really enjoyed them! I agree with you on distractions and all the sometimes overwhelming things going on in the world, sometimes I take a break from news for a couple weeks to give myself a break. I am looking forward to your calm and peaceful spirit in 2024.
Lisa, you are completely right, humans are more distracted and divided as ever before, at least in the past couple hundred years.. I think men sit in front of one computer, where women sit in front of many when it comes to viewing life ..lol I also think like never before some of us are in tune and watching Evil in real time. The blessing is good always wins so stand on faith and trust that this too shall pass. Stay hopeful and look for the quiet beauty in this very loud world.
I'm with you Lisa! Looking forward to your videos in the coming year and beyond. I love hearing the sounds of the birds singing. We are missing that in Minnesota right now.
This is a whole new level of distractions. You are so right. I love the way you put it. More like an upheaval of everything we have known. A crashing of the country we have known. I disagree with Tommy. humans in our country have never been this distracted by evil.
Thank you Pamela, I so agree with “a whole new level”, which I’m realizing is going to require finding a whole new level of functioning. The old skills just aren’t keeping up with the pace of everything. May God lead the way! PS. I’ll pass this along to Tommy 😝!
HAPPY NEW YEAR Lisa and family! Good to see you. Absolutely, in this time in History; People are not just more distracted, they are being down right selfish. STTB

Hi Patricia, Unfortunately, I purchased them long ago from Pierre Deux. They had wonderful French Country decorative items that are hard to find now. You might want to try Etsy. Hopefully with some digging you can find them. I get it - they are a pair of my favorite things! 😊

Wow Harrison, a powerful, beautiful prayer 🙏🏻 .
Beautiful 🤩!!
I think of living mindfully and prayerfully. The Benedictines have a saying “Work is prayer and prayer is work.” I love that.
