I remember going between Gen 1 BRZ to GR Supra to GR86 and how much throttle and steering control the Supra required in comparison to the twins. Took me a few track days in the 86 to stop 'pre-counter-steering' like I was in the Supra. Definitely short wheelbase and just a crap load of EV-like torque from the B58 overwhelming the rears.
I remember the earlier mk5 supra owners recorded their first power mods (dp & tune + pure800 hybrid turbo) and my first reaction to their dyno numbers are "how the hell is the engine making more torque than power? Is it built like a diesel?". The b58 is really something man.
Great vid! Super fast car for sure. Finally got to drive my cousins Supra last week. The drivetrain is indeed really good, even the auto transmission, I wouldn't feel the need to change that owning one. The seats though... Definitely need good buckets. And I noticed the odd rear end just in my short drive, along with the twitchy steering. Would be a great Autocross car I think.
The steering seems alive - was that your observation Fenton? How did he make that change from the direct but lifeless wheel in the stock Supra. The new Supra is tearing up autocross competitions btw, it is a track weapon and beast (although it stock form a bit soft) - quickest car under C8 Corvette (faster in hands of the Pros Vs C8 Z51 because of different possibilities with racing lines Vs the stable C8). It's the modern day S2000 with a hardtop and more power, lol - same profile, same wt balance.
The steering had way more feedback than stock, and was pin point precise. Don't know exactly which mods contributed to it, but take a look at the mod list in the video description.
Did u left foot brake? I had an Evo MR with the dual clutch transmission and loved using the paddle shifters on track with left foot braking. Very nice to be able to keep both hands on the wheel at all times!
Hey bro, really need some advice from you😆I'm also running awe touring on my GR86 and I'm not sure if I'm able to attend the 90db track day on Laguna, wondering have you ever attend a 90db event? Thank you so much! Really appreciate it

Every video I see of this car including at goodwill is this car has a very loose rear end. This car is for sale in San Jose. Owner Probably wants get C8. I’ll pass on Z4.
Not saying it's not an amazing car, but no shock a modern 6 cylinder with active dampers completely decked out with suspension and external engine mods would be faster than a full mod 20 yr old S2k with a bit more power. Other than sharing a RWD platform, there's little comparison. That said, the S2k with one driver makes the most gains by far.

Nice driving buddy!!
Just channeling my inner Jimmy Diggs
Wow! Thats fast! I thought i was watching a jackie ding video for a second, your quick bro!
I'm nowhere near his level but I definitely felt pretty comfortable in this car!
I own a 21 Supra 3.0 premium and a 23 Scat Pack Charger. I love them both but the Supra feels like an F1 car after driving the yacht
Exactly what I try telling me. I get it that it shares the Z platform but it feels different. The cockpit feeling is addictive
GR supra is so amazing
This confirms exactly what I want to do to my Mk5. It needs more grip far more than it needs power. Awesome build
Car looks an absolute riot on the track

@@izzdin6228fun fact, the B58 block is a diesel block.
Good job driving around that track. People underestimate how much nervousness , and adrenaline comes with it.

Fun to watch! B58 sounds so good.
Gear ratios aren't short at all, it just has 8 gears so it has a gear for pretty much every speed in the powerband
A team with American Endurance Racing was running one of these in a similar state of tune, absolute weapon 8hrs per day!
watched a lot of jackie ding and his supra and they do seem pretty snappy at the limit lol
Great video! What suspension mods? Love to see a track comparison times @ Sonoma vs. a stock 996,997, 991 or heaven forbid a 992 😉 -Cheers!
check the description, its endless of mods lol
Got it didn't see that... Endless LoL Thanks! @@MrZyLeXx
@@K86UPyup, soo many suspension mods, and not one power mod. It's a pretty badass track setup, but not enough power to kill the driver.

Really love that POV
great driving, was this day on full traction off or sport traction (one click)?
Wow that looked super fun. You said you got a 1:49 but I wonder whats the fastest lap the owner was able to do
I believe he did a 1:51. His AIM Solo 2 DL showed an optimal 1:47.9 for me, so I'm sure the car is capable of a 1:46.

laguna pipe
Highly doubt AWE Touring on BRZ will pass 90dB Laguna days. Definitely get a Laguna pipe.
It looks like the car is riding on stock springs?
Thanks for sharing!
hell ya
Looks like the car is begging for a gear higher coming out of corners to tone down the sketchiness coming out of corners. Just a thought.
Really on stock springs/dampers?
No it has coilovers. Go watch the street review. Coils, wheels, tires. Stock tune means engine is bone stock.
the supercar 3R is few seconds faster if not 3sec around buttonwillow then the just Supercar 3's
Any idea what spoiler that is?
Get a gt3 on track, sub’d 50 with mine
I've yet to experience a Porsche GT car on track... I'm scared that I won't be able to go back to normie cars

If the S2K was making closer to 400whp with more dialed in suspension settings, I think it would be very close.
