Im kinda curious about the mileage not because i really care about gas millaege on a rig like this "it is nice knowing how far a full tank takes you" but mostly because it would be neat to compare to stock, i dont think some people realize how much proper gearing actually helps. When i regear a jeep "we run jeeps" i typically go into the red or at least just past what stock would be on one of those calculation sheets. Because its nice to have the option for a larger tire later but mostly to accommodate the extra mass/weight of the 37s or 40s. I have always daily driven heavily modified 4x4s and its actually really cool to see just how well a vehicle performs on road with 40s and good suspension geometry and proper gearing ive been really surprised by a few rigs. Ive definitely spent time on road running big tires and stock gearing and ive been very surprised just how much efficiency ive gotten from regearing not to mention just how much more enjoyable the vehicle is to drive and how much easier it is to make it go. It creates a ton of heat too trying to push big tires on stock gears I've seen gearing cure overheating problems like heat soak issues and stuff. I have a stock 2001 durango with a 5.9 v8 i use as a spare vehicle it has a digital mileage counter and when i changed the 31 inch street tires to 31 inch bfg all terrains i noticed it said my milaege went down by 1 mile just with the more aggressive tire i thought that was kind of neat to see how it made a difference and it got me paying attention to different things, im not a milaege nut like some people but i do like efficiency and maximizing reliability and performance. Anyways your truck turned out really cool i think it looks really good. The width suits it well it looks like its supposed to be that way some vehicles look silly with full width axles underneath, those fenders really pull everything together. Even if you used a small spacer or different wheel to try and bring the tire out of the control arm i think it would still look good.
wish it was legal here in quebec but as soon as you straight axel a truck its only for offroad use ............ anyways nice build man ! that truck is a beast
This series couldn't of come out at a better time literally the first video came out the day I started solid axle swapping my 2001 single cab Toyota Hilux in Australia with a TM Fab kit that just using mostly 80 series and 75 series stuff altho I did use your older videos for the taco brakes with the fror but went with the 14wa calipers that come 150 Prado here. Mines only on 33s. This thing is a beast on 40's and looking forward to see some trip videos with it with new rubber
thanks for the update, I was wondering how it was going since the build was complete. Great job and awesome taco. I love how you started, "I don't care""
Let’s meet up for a Toyota Run. I got a Rig in the works, that’s not Ready yet for SEMA this year. I don’t want to show up with Bluetooth Drive shafts. 😅
I got a first gen tundra with a 3.4 and a manual I just put ford one tun sas on it I can’t wait to drive it EVERYWHERE, waiting on gears and a front drive line , your truck is sick asf tho
What gear ratio in the axles? -(5.13 gears, I missed it)- I have 2013 F250 Sterling 10.5 Rear, Dana 60 Front in my '95 YJ. Both with E-Lockers. Lowest gears I could get was 4.88. The little 2.5l 4-cyl doesnt like it one bit! Once I get a decent transfer case and V-8 im sure it will be fine. EDIT: Also, what steering setup? I had to use a PSC hydo-assist. The factory steering almost wouldnt even turn the 40s. I can steer dead into a rock or log with no problems.
I'm wondering how the truck drives on the freeway maybe three or four or five hours? I'm thinking about going on a small road trip in my jeep with 40" tires ...
You got gearings and a tune?? Trynna build my '22 taco 4x4 v6 auto.. trynna install a 6" lift with 22x14's on 33's but don't know what gearings to go with. Sick build by the way!
Turned out good... And daily driving it shouldn't be any different than driving ur other toy ...should drive great n do 100 on hwy no problem. .. it's one tonns n 40s.. not a monster truck,. thousands of f350s do it daily... and ur doing it with half their weight!!!...and it should pound trails with out breaking! Thats a strong axle for the weight and hp of that vehicle Cool build..
Love Toyotas and Jeeps. But I gotta say if you’re daily driving a purpose built off road vehicle, you need to make better life decisions. They get horrible mileage and drive like absolute crap.
Well you have not driven this 🤣 Great road manners and with the right gearing you can get your mileage back, this truck is actually close to stock on fuel economy, still get over 500km to a tank. My life decisions are just fine my dude.
@@KdubKustoms Do you know how much a Dana 60 weights compared to a Dana 44? I bet you will have to look it up!! If you have to look it up then you don't know anything about truck or off roading

I love the look of this build! However, i would never want to experience that much body roll in my day-to-day driving!
I love this build! I’m really tempted to build an RC version of it.
the 4.0l v6 is such a good engine. My '07 is still runninbg like the day I bought it. Has so much more power than the 3.5l v6 in my '22
I was lucky enough to take this truck for a rip !!! And it rides super smooth , lots of power . And it will go just about anywhere .
Sweet! Just sold my accord and now use my TACO as a daily driver. Luckily for me, it running on 32's. Diggin your style.
The sickest taco out there. And that thing smashes trails.
it was cool to see you on the road. I was in the army green 1st gen coming back from whipsaw

Yup if u want to go bigger just lower or raise your gears lot easier then having to pull the motor and or raise the hp
I daily a 1ton swapped xj on 37x12.50x17.
