Gaming cannot survive the obsession with newer better things all the time. We're reaching serious diminishing returns but the tech industry doesn't know how to market any other way than through "innovation" that's becoming less and less relevant. We've basically been repackaging the same features since like 2014 as if they're new or meaningful save for MAYBE RTX, but even that's largely just a gimmick.
Sometimes I think we'd be better off if the silicon ceiling left us stuck with graphics on par with the game cube so we could escape the hamster wheel of technological advancement.

4K screens must be used with a higher then 100% scaling. High pixel density is very nice! 7:01
This. 150% scaling in 4K is decent for me.
On a 13.4 inch gaming Ultrabook, I'll take 120hz 1920*1200 over 60hz 3840*2160. The power to run games at 4k isn't there, and when I finally buy the xg mobile dock (only have the revised rtx 3050 ti fhd model atm, best buy was selling them for $1350 for a bit) I'll be using it with external displays mostly.
@@dan_loeb you make a good point. I currently use a Nitro 5 laptop ($650 from Best Buy at the time) with an external monitor. But I have to admit, I still see the value of having a good screen. However, the moment I turn off the game and switch to RUclips or Netflix, I want to use the MacBook Pro 16" supplied by my work. It has a GREAT screen, and it doesn't even have touch screen. The idea of having the best of both worlds is alluring to me, even if it's not the most efficient purchase. (Keep in mind that I only know this perspective because the MacBook was "free", but it's no different than a RUclipsr that gets laptops to review anyways).

I was surprised how I've never in my life used thunderbolt.
dude i just realized -

is it compatible ?
Same. Never used Thunderbolt
Me either
My external speakers can be powered by thunderbolt and produce higher gain through higher peak power (wattage). As an example.
@@plantxvibe9571 no and yes, it depends on whether the USB protocol (the data format your USB devices talk to each other, or how it exchange data using a normalized standard) implements the Thunderbolt protocol, which can be PCIE X4 in disguise (it's one of the operation mode I remember).
This clearly is not been done since USB is not designed to handle this much data in the first place and thus requires major redesigning of its protocol, but in USB4 Intel generously donated their TB3 IP to USB forum, so this is now integrated by default, and USB4 requires USB-C.
Yet no one made commercial USB4 en masse yet, not even AMD. But the legacy of Thunderbolt will linger on USB, presumably forever. Maybe in five or six years when USB4 started adopting and Thunderbolt phased out, you will see much more applications to that, since you don't have to pay royalties to Intel anymore and this tax alone can be an ecosystem boom.

It actually is great for work and play.
At work, it's great as a thin and light ultrabook. You can turn off the built-in RTX 3050 or GTX 1650 (depending on when you got it) if you don't need the graphics horsepower, to use the AMD integrated graphics to make your battery really last.
Once you get home, dock it to the XG Mobile, an external monitor, a mechanical keyboard and solid mouse, and you basically have something fairly close to a high-end desktop gaming experience that can play almost everything at 1440p with max settings.
There are some downsides though, the AMD Ryzen 9 chip inside runs hot, especially when it's pushed hard. So be prepared to invest in a cooler fan or figure out how to elevate the unit such that the fans can gulp in the air they need.

When linus said it's getting destroyed i immediately thought he was going to drop it.
Sorry. Your gaming laptop sucks now.
Now...Six months ago...Six months from now, and for the next 6 years till I can afford a new one.
Yeah and you have to buy a whole new system once it becomes irrelevant which is why you shouldn't buy a gaming laptop unless you absoulotly need to for some reason
@Logic_Encrypted yeah and do what sell it for a fraction of the price you bought it for or let it collect dust
@Logic_Encrypted never said everyone needs the newest and best but if you ever want to upgrade later on you have to buy a whole new system not to mention they suck in tons of dust and you have to constantly maintain them
@Logic_Encryptedstill losing money you want to purchase things that hold value like when buying a car
@Logic_Encrypted exactly it you can't upgrade a single part in a laptop you have to buy a new one if you want a new part
5:06 Geezus, talk about dongle-hell!
Thunderbolt, eh? I'm guessing that's still a wee bit above what I usually need/pay. I'd like it if you made a vid about how viable Thunderbolt is today because last time I looked it wasn't very viable (in the sense that you had a very small amount of options, to the extent that you had to chose between thunderbolt or some other functions) as well as how far gaming mouse industry is from changing to USB-C (or at least include an adapter), considering how the laptop industry seems to exclude the A more and more.
Apple : "The M1 is the most powerful processor in a thin and light"
Amd and Asus : *Hold my beer.*
Per watt, M1 still destroys anything x86 has.

intel: am I a joke to you?
people: yeah
M1 destroys the 10th gen intel stuff in every way, including power consumption and surprisingly, price
@@elijah_9392 but in a laptop nobody cares about per watt. What people want is overall performance.
Well it always has been..😓

Asus is killing it!
@@evelezpuma can you mention from where you got it , it's a great deal congrats
That small boi seemed it can be light enough to cool by flapping it like a folding fan. 🤣👍
Fun fact: The thumbnail was just a blackscreen and now changed to doom

So I got my ROG Flow X13 with the XG Mobile and I'm finding USB via the XG Mobile is really unstable. It seems like the USB hub via the Type-C connection is likely the culprit as I've also noticed LAN being interrupted as well. I'm planning to reach out to Asus about this, considering the price that I paid. Other than this, the laptop seems pretty great.
As it turns out...it was a general USB issue. So far, after getting the AMD driver tool to update drivers, things seem to be more stable (had no random USB reconnects during an hours long gaming session), so maybe just a driver issue which can be resolved with an AMD tool. I suspect someone who doesn’t know better is going to expect to get this from Asus, not AMD, so worth noting. However, if I do notice the issue returning, definitely reaching out to Asus. They don’t make it easy since there’s next to no support info on their site for this bundle.
I have a question I got a pc with only 8gb of ram and want to upgrade it to 16 but the problem is no one is selling a single stick of it and it’s only selling in pairs. Could I put 3 sticks of ram into my mother board and if I do what will be the affects?
