So interesting Jill! I borrow them from the library (multiple times haha). Romantic Crochet by Emma Escott is a favourite. I did buy the Harry Potter knitting and crochet books years ago and still haven’t made anything. I have a few magazines but I also mainly borrow these in e-form from the Libby app from the library

Hi Jill, that was so interesting. Like you, I love to look through a crochet book (and recipe books!) but it is not often I actually make anything from them! I am certainly tempted to buy a few of the ones you have mentioned. I loved the way you showed us the pages properly, thank you. And, you are amazing, so talented! I am so impressed how you have embraced You Tube and developed your channel. Xx

Hi Jill. Wow some beautiful books there. I have a few of Shelley's books which I actually love. you have shown three that i would consider buying to add to my collection. They are Tunisian Crochet, Cosy Crochet Blankets and Mix an Match Modern crochet blankets. You are correct about not having somewhere here to buy such books makes it hard. Amazon is my go to now for the books. I totally agree with you about holding and feeling and smelling the books yes I am that person too! ❤

I have probably 10 books and just ordered another one. I also buy online. I have used mine quite a bit though. I have noticed though that the more books I have the more I realize that they have a lot of the same stitch patterns. I do look for books with stitch diagrams, don't like to read the way other people write patterns lol.

Hi Jill, I have a few of those books too and some others. I love the Mix n Match book and I recently purchased The Year of Granny Squares book. One of my favourites is 100 Crochet Borders. I use that one all the time for my blankets but I must admit I tend to use the same 2 or 3 borders in it. I used to use the books alot more pre Ravelry and RUclips. There are so many free patterns now and tutorials too. Nothing like a beautiful book though to delight the senses even if it’s just for inspiration ideas. I even have a Jane Austen inspired crochet book which I’m yet to make anything from but it’s beautiful. I want to try the Shelley Husband books and would love to do one of her workshops. I’m interested to try her patterns now that you’ve talked about it. See if I can follow them.

Lovely selection of books there, thanks for sharing. I wonder if they are Australian or US stitches as I heard there is a difference. Being a beginner, I am sure I would get in a muddle. @@laurelb8372 hi Laurel, Thankyou for joining us here 😁😁. Oh yes, the US & UK stitches confused me in the beginning for sure. The book I had trouble with is written in UK terms which I’ll use if I have to (but need conversion chart near by 😆)too, I usually use US terminology, simply because that’s what I was taught with 👍🏼👍🏼. @@laurelb8372 oh, I have the Mix n Match book in US terms, often the designer will sell them in both terminology. The only beginner books that I know of are from Shelly Husband, @spincushion. Her book titled “Granny Square Academy” sounds like it would be a great one for you, it comes in both terms, so you can choose which one suits you 😁😁
