Oh goodness the wrap is beautiful ❤
Thankyou so much Cathy 🤎. I was wondering if I should create a pattern for it would you prefer it to be in Tunisian crochet or normal crochet?
@ I have never done tunisian. It looks beautiful. I think it would be great to have the challenge, although maybe I should start small. 🤪
Love this! Thinking I might make these for my book club friends for next Christmas using the colours of the book cover for each month for each square. Wish me luck
That sounds Iovely idea, you will be right. It’s doable 😁😁👏🏽👏🏽
Hi Jill on the colour wheel in art white is classed as a tint. It is added to the primary colours to make a tone in the colour. Black is classed as a tone and added to a primary colour it is a tone of the colour. Hope that makes sense. Black an white are monochromatic in the art world hope that helps
Oh Cathy that really does help, I couldn’t remember where black & white sat in amongst the whole scheme of things. I think I’d really love a colour wheel that has about 4 rings to it where all the different shades would arise 👍🏼😁😁
@ you can buy them from art stores
Hope you have a wonderful visit. Looking forward to seeing the Made in Australia projects.
@@aualleycat Thankyou so much. It’s going to be super hot up there, but our little granddaughter wanted us at her birthday 🎁😁😁. I don’t have many, but the few people mage lovely projects 😁😁

@@judyatwitchpeacecraft hi Judy, I do already have 1 little video up all about pit temperature blankets, see if you may enjoy that one. When I get enough photos I’ll make a second montage to share 😁😁

Enjoy your visit with your family and Grand babies Jill, safe travels your Tunisian squares are looking great love the colours your combining can’t wait to see the blanket. 🌸🙂
Thank you so much, it will be very hot up there & it’s little Flos birthday. I can't wait to get the blanket finished either 😁😁😁
Hi Jill. Hope you enjoy your trip to Townsville. I find whenever I take my crochet with me to visit family I get almost nothing done. We just get talking too much and it's difficult to concentrate on what I'm meant to be doing. (Stitch 3 or 4, undo 3 or 4. Or I get back home and find mistakes a couple of rows back, need I say more. I'm busy making a toddler size cardigan for a friend who was an avid crocheter and can't do it any more due to shoulder pain. It's such a pity because she loved to crochet and spent the best part of each day churning out some amazing work. I can't imagine not being able to crochet any more, it's such a big part of my life. Enough rambling from me, hope you are coping with the heat wherever you are, I'm over it, that's for sure.
Where do you live dear Renata? I am in Port Macquarie, Australia, the heat sure does wear thin doesn’t it 🥵. You are so right about trying to crochet whilst with grandchildren 😆😆. I save it for the days they are at school & daycare 👍🏼. We are so lucky to have our crochet life, I hope we can always manage something, it certainly would be sad for us to lose our ability that’s for sure, stay cool my dear, we are heading to autumn soon 😁🍃✨💖
@gumleaf_crochet_and_yarn I live on the Gold Coast. Qld. At the moment it's still HOT and there doesn't seem to be a cool change coming (we usually get it a day after you).
@ I’ll try to remember that you live up there. Just like you, when a southerly change bones we watch it move up the coast from Sydney to us. I really hope you get some relief soon Renata. Do you have Air conditioning that helps so much? 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Hi Jill 🤗 your blanket will be beautiful! I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s makes for our CAL! Unfortunately life does get in the way of our crochet 🤷🏻♀️🥰🧶🤩

I don't like mission brown, and mustard Yellow. 😂 that was my school uniform and it was horrible. 😂 I do like lighter browns, beige etc. The colours you use suits Australian elimates.

I have a regular Tunisian hook but I don’t have the plastic cord with the stopper is it hard to keep the yarn on without falling off ?
Hello Lei, I’ve never tried using one without cord on the end. Is your a really long hook? I had some of those and gave them away, I going them too hard to use. Hope that helps you, oh and the crochet would fall off if your were making more than a square 👍🏼👍🏼
@ ok yes it’s longer than regular but not long enough for even a pillow 👍 good to know thanks !
@ yes that would be the one I had too, think it’s called an Afghan needle or Cro Hook, I think. Go and watch my last video and I show you my cheap $11 Tunisian Hooks that I just love 🤎

@@beththoreson9216 Thankyou so very much Beth 😁😁
Love the wrap at the end of your video. Tried tunisian once but the ends were curling up so I gave up. Will definately try again. Snyman is definately a South African surname and yes she is a fellow South African.
@@sonjamarshall4775 Thankyou so much Sonja, yes Beatrix is South African, I hope she will teach you some invaluable information 😁😁
That’s is such a beautiful wrap Jill. I can feel its softness from here. Love those colours. Did you say you dyed them yourself? I’m heading over to Beatrix’ channel now to watch. Thankyou.
@@CrochetCavalier Thankyou so very much Maureen, yes I dyed this lot with Botanicals, that’s where my dyeing story began 😆😉 hope Beatrix will teach you some invaluable information 😁😁
Jill I just rewatched your video again. Can I just ask is your wrap all done in one piece with the different stitch patterns or did you make panels and then join them? It looks all done in one piece but I wanted to check.
Your wrap is just gorgeous! Sorry to hear your problems with the squares and the other blanket but I love your honesty. I’m now going to watch Beatrix cheers A.
@@Saltysweetpea4769 aww, Thankyou so much, I hope Beatrix will teach you some valuable Info 😁😁
I love Tunisian crochet and have made many items with it. My goal this year is to learn to do Tunisian cables. I have never heard to Beatrix Snyman, I learned from TL Yarncrafts on RUclips but will definitely check her out immediately. Thank you for sharing!!!❤❤❤
@@ki-rort Thankyou so very much, I hope Beatrix will teach you some invaluable information 😁😁
I do believe that if you mix two complementary colours, such as yellow and purple, you get grey. So it kind of does relate to the colour wheel!
@@DAWNWILLIAMS-s8z Thankyou Dawn. I was wondering where grey fitted in 🩶🩶
I really want to learn this Tunisian but it always looks so difficult. Hope you make it easy to follow ❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@leismith3124 I will do my best Lei. The simple stitch is not hard and looks so very nice too 😁😁
@ can’t wait 😛
I absolutely love your individuality Jill! What a great video, you share so much of your self which makes your videos so personal and engaging, thanks. I used to struggle with browns and yellows as I was dressed in those colours a lot as a child because I had brown hair and green eyes! Now I appreciate the browns and yellows and just about every colour except grey, greys I find so dull and difficult but I think you have hit the nail on the head about those of us who live in the northern hemisphere, as we do have so very many grey days and just love a bit of bright colour! Thanks for encouraging us to think about colour. Looking forward to your next deeper dive!!
Oh bless you Esther, you understood exactly the concepts and feelings I was trying to get across, Thankyou for being such a loyal follower ❤️❤️. I was the same with blue, I had it in Primary & High School, Nursing Training and then in Nursing work….so it always makes me think I don’t like it, yet I still do use it 😆🩵🩵💙💙
A very interesting video Jill, especially the mention of synesthesia - the days of the week have always been colour to me, as do some months of the year. I wonder if this has given me a love of the blues and greens. I'll have to do a bit of research to find out 💙💙
It all got me very intrigued too Sara. Hence I’ll keep digging to see what else I can find 😆. This revealed that my husband and eldest daughter also see the days of the week as a colour, it’s interesting isn’t it (they are more alike each other too). And Hannah’s Husband seas then Calender as one long straight line whereas I see it like a Calender with 3 x 4 sections and I see the days and words all in black. Let’s see what else I can uncover 😆😁👍🏼👍🏼
How interesting that the most dislike colour is orange and I cringed when you said that because it is my favourite colour. Having said that, if I look around my home including in my wardrobe I only have a couple of tops that are orange and that's about it.
@@renatecormick7399 even though we don’t have alot of our favourite colour around us, doesn’t mean it’s not our favourite, that it’s precious to our heart 🧡🧡🤎🤎
This was such an interesting video for me Jill since I started my yarn dyeing and my YT channel. I’ve had alot of questions about why and how I choose the colours I do. I’ve had to reflect and ask myself because honestly I’ve never analysed the why. As you said it can be intuitive or a heart song. Sometimes the colours I choose to wear are not the colours I would decorate with. And then different rooms in the house have different colour choices. Sunroom is bright, bedrooms need calm muted tones for me and so on. It really is individual isn’t it. I feel like you with the colour wheel and over the years the longer I crochet the further away from solid colours I’ve gotten. So I very rarely choose from the primary colour wheel unless someone has asked for it. I’ll always lean towards & choose from the variegated, tonal, speckled yarns and if I dont have them I’ll create my own by blending colours together. I love how you’ve put all this into words in your video. Thankyou. 🌺🌸🌼
Thank you so much for your wonderful comment! I love how you've thought about your colour choices too Maureen, I am trying my hardest to discover that connection we have with certain colours and I feel like 3td time will be a charm. I’ll get to the bottom of it somehow. I might find some podcasts about it to listen too…I love the way you have done it in each room of your house ✨✨✨✨✨
I love the additional colors you chose for your blanket! Simply stunning! And your lined crochet pouches are perfect.
@@ZolaneG that so lovely of you, Thankyou 💖💖
Hi Jill, the blanket is looking beautiful already, it is going to be awesome when you have finished it! What a brilliant idea, getting ahead with a few centres! I have not managed to start mine yet as I am still working on two other blankets and so I am very much enjoying the thinking about it stage and watching yours and other's progress is inspirational!
