Thanks for watching, y'all. What 2 types would you like to see placed under the microscope next?

“Any type can do anything” - that’s a common reminder I feel the need to also lay down!
    Well done sir Jeffery 🙌🏻

Much appreciated, Sean! Yesss, I think it's an important insight to grasp. The analogy that pops into my mind involves cars. Two cars can have vastly different things going on under the hood and yet function the same from a birds-eye view. They can each get you to your destination. The destination is something that goes beyond your type, and you mobilize your particular function preferences to get there. :)

As an INFP with high play, this makes SO MUCH SENSE TO ME. People consistently think I have high Fe and my sister thought I was an extrovert basically for our entire lives lol.
This vid was done so well

Hillary! Thank you for extracting out the gold in my ramblings. :) With the mantras, I do feel as if I’ve stumbled upon something worthwhile. One reason I suspect it works is that the notion of coins/opposites is so central to grasping type. What becomes habitual, what becomes repressed? They go hand in hand, and these mantras are formulated in such a way as to emphasis that which is accepted AND that which is neglected. Perhaps that’s more helpful than trying to isolate variables and see them as free-floating atoms. Contrast is such a crucial component of perception itself, so why not factor it into our modes of meaning-making self-perception?

I love this explanation. I have seen this in my own life, and as an INFP, I haven’t related much to the tortured artist or loner, I have questioned if I was ESFJ, my problems and imbalance are always F/T issues, I’m social and enjoy people, but I’m self above tribe. So here’s a great explanation how they can overlap and look alike. Thanks! 👍🏼

You have made my life so much easier by explaining this! I was so confused how come I can be an infp but so similar to the esfj traits and this just made all things clear! Thank you so much!!

Thanks for saying so, Zain Eb. I knew that this video would have a smaller audience than what I normally try to make, so I'm glad it's been helpful for certain peeps :)

  • @celiastarot

I’m invested, but so confused! Aren’t ESFJ extremely outgoing and extroverted? Me as an INFP do not see myself with an ESFJ due to this part and I know there are many other parts of our individual personalities that mesh perfectly because I had already met an ESFJ but he was married. The connection is amazing! It’s beyond just sexual or wanting to be with that person. It’s an understanding aspect that’s so different.

    • @AutoAlchemy
      @AutoAlchemy  3 года назад +9

There are definitely outgoing ESFJs out there, but many of them can appear more stereotypically introverted and even shy. This is because they are hyper-aware of other people, how those people are feeling, how they might be perceiving the ESFJ, etc. So they may make themselves small to avoid ruffling feathers. Additionally ESFJs are often weak in the area of identity, which also leads to them shrinking when in the spotlight.

  • @melbeth79

    That was quite interesting.
My mom is ESFJ so the title caught my attention. I feel like our types are pretty different to most observers until something like this is done.
My mom would probably be play first, as for me, I'm not sure. I've thought I'm probably consume first, but I'm not outgoing in real life like I can be online. I also have a lot of Si going on and have considered I may be one of these jumper types, but I'm not sure of that either because I also use a lot of Ne too. I definitely don't skip over it.
I feel like three of the functions in my main stack are well developed and even my Te is not that bad as I get older. I find my mom is also like this with her 4th Ti. She is way more interested in "the inner moving parts" of something, where most of time, I couldn't care less. I just want it to work efficiently for a lot of people, and I want the group to relatively agree on some type of logical, unifying consensus.
I use my Te to verify in the external world what my Fi is vibing on. If I present logical, conclusions to people that I have gathered from the external world and they are dismissed or ignored, I am usually not very impressed.

Melanie! Hi! You raise some really good points, especially about the development of the functions over time. The juxtaposition of your own relationship to logic versus your mom's is on-point. :) I'm glad that this resonated, especially for someone who has seen both sides of the aisle, so to speak.

  • @SunHeaven

Okay, that actually made sense. The savior and demon functions are pretty new to me but I get it at this moment. I think I'm consume above blast and sleep above play. So, I'm probably more infp? Unless I'm something else entirely.

I'm glad that I just so happened to have made this video and that it was there for you right when you needed it after the other video 😆 It sounds like you've grasped the core of the concepts! C > B and S > P would suit many of the INFPs. In fact I think CS/P(B) INFPs are probably closest to the stereotype of an INFP

Love how you delineate the terminology for each system so clearly. Do you plan on doing more videos about OP in particular? I'm not yet familiar with it, but the "Jumper" idea is interesting in how it (indirectly) breaks the rules of function stacking. Must the auxiliary function be the opposite I/E preference of the dominant? What makes that valid? It reminds me of the looping concept, where the aux is considered "bypassed" under stress... which honestly doesn't make much sense at all from a cognitive standpoint. These workarounds to the MBTI suggest the limitations of a 16-type function stacking system. The overlaps you describe are similar and more nuanced (mis)types than Myers-Briggs INFP and ESFJ can distinguish. I'm not sure if this video clears up differences between these types according to MBTI as much as it destroys the assumptions of MBTI, freeing a body to question their type in a more meaningful way. (damn sorry this got long 😅)

"'I'm not sure if this video clears up differences between these types according to MBTI as much as it destroys the assumptions of MBTI." Shhhh, you're starting to shine light on my subversive approach. Lol. But yes, there's a lot of valid questions to ask about function stacking. We take a lot for granted. Where do these ideas come from? I'm currently doing a lot of investigation to determine what makes the most sense from where I'm standing, and yes, I'll do more videos on OP as a result. :)

Look up Objective Personality. Though it might not seem like it at first, their ideas are much closer to Jung's original approach to type. For a comprehensive explanation on why, you can check my video titled 'Complexifying the Functions: A Response to Erik Thor.'
