Considering how much he doesn't like Munchkin, I wonder if his love of dice blinded him to that. His opinion is still valid but the oversight is noteworthy
I hate games that use obscure symbols I have to look up in a book. If the monsters were on cards instead of dice, we could've just read the card for that info.
I'm having a nearly impossible time finding this cause too many other games come up when I search it, anyone got a link to it on Amazon and/or coolstuff?
I'm having the same problem. The only results I get are some other dungeon crawls and packs of actual dungeon dice. I can't find this game. A pity, it looks fun.
RUclips in it's infinite wisdom didn't actually show me this notification... ever. I only saw it cause I happened to be watching the video again XD So clearly I missed that boat, but thanks for trying. lol
Funded this on kickstarter and just to say the mats weren't free to kickstarters you had to buy them and still can now. You don't need to order them though as free to print yourself. Good game that the family love and the negotiation part more than makes up for the randomness of the dice.
i agree that the first version is very random and lucky. but with all the expansions ( or just some ) it becomes very stratigic. you have to oppose players well trying to keep them happy, becose there are many bad effects people can use on you. you also have to nagociate well and stratigise the fights. sure its a random draw and roll but there are rearolls, items that let you choose what you get and dice that let you lower or strengthen a monster. when you play with a group there is no chance of winning without stratagie foul paly and kindness.
I LOVE dice games! I kickstarted this game. I knew this was a pure luck game going in but like Quarriors is fun. My friends and I get together on Friday nights and just want to laugh and try our luck like this game. The dice are super well made, your right the rules suck but on BGG there are a lot of forums to help you play. The bags are not the best but they do o.k. if you like or LOVE dice games like me you will find this fun.
Those dice mats look pretty essencial Tom as there seems to be a lot of specific dice placement? Is it fair to review a game with kickstarter extras that nobody will have unless they already have the kickstarter game? Especially when it would look like a random pile of dice without them. I agree with your opinion before about annoying kickstarter extras.
There are only 7 dice that are only on Kickstarter, but the good thing is that right now the expansion is on kickstarter (www.kickstarter.com/projects/293287047/dungeon-dice-guilds) and you can get the rare dice. The maker Potluck is very good about that, and thinks exclusive is a bad word.
They are very high quality! And larger then normal dice so they feel meaty in your hands. Some of the dice even have multiple color inks per face. and all the monster dice have different color ink on different faces to easily identify how hard the monster is to beat.
Great review looks like something I would enjoy. I went to go buy this after the review only to find out I can't because it's KS and not being sold at retailers ... :(
The expansion is up on KS right now, 33 dice for $25 or The base game (/w all the first KS "exclusive" promos; they are offered at other times) for $69. I would check it out. www.kickstarter.com/projects/293287047/dungeon-dice-guilds PS I have nothing to do with the make of this game, just a fan.
Dice games can be fun. Luck games can be fun. The whole idea of negotiating to get opponents to help..... I HATE! It's basically the reason why I don't like to play Munchkins. The game eventually turns in to begging for help, or too much back and forth on every battle, that it takes forever.
I think that issue you are having, has more to do with the game group then the game, when we play, the we dont get too crazy with the negotiations, and frequently help each other without much of a reward sometimes. I hope I dont sound offensive when I say this.
Sounds like both sides level up, so there is a built in reward even leaving out the treasure. Maybe haggling over every treasure, or selling "ill help you next' would mitigate the begging problem.
One other thing to mention, is that the dice are amazingly high quality, with some dice having multiple color inks per face. I really enjoy it.
I have a copy of this game I bought years ago but my friend wants his own now and I cannot find ANY copies of this
It's Munchkin: The Dice Game
I played the Print and Play version during the first Kickstarter. *shrug*
Considering how much he doesn't like Munchkin, I wonder if his love of dice blinded him to that. His opinion is still valid but the oversight is noteworthy
I was actually thinking that during his end review...he hates Munchkin, so why does he love this?
The dice mats were a FREE bonus for Kickstarter backers, they are available for a few bucks from the publishers website.
There's a new expansion on Kickstarter. They have a completionist bundle too. Thinking of pledging. Looks like fun to play.
I hate games that use obscure symbols I have to look up in a book. If the monsters were on cards instead of dice, we could've just read the card for that info.
"I am biased towards Dice. I like dice. I don't know why..." *looks at Channel/Store name* Yeah, I wonder why too... :P

GRex7777 just launched their expansion on Kickstarter. There's an option to also get the core game.

That's cool. Just a shame they don't come with the game.

They're not essential, but they are very helpful. They're also pretty easy to get off of Potluck's web page.
Fair enough. Just looked like it may be confusing without them to someone like me whose easily confused and tends to game with friends whist drinking.
Where can I get this game? Coolstuffinc has none, Ebay has a $80 kickstarter edition, Amazon had 1977 Vintage version, I had when I was a wee one.
How are the quality of the dice though Tom? They look pretty good from what I can see
They are good quality.
They are very high quality! And larger then normal dice so they feel meaty in your hands. Some of the dice even have multiple color inks per face. and all the monster dice have different color ink on different faces to easily identify how hard the monster is to beat.
No mention that this really just looks like Munchkin with dice? Granted, it looks a lot better than Munchkin, but not even a reference?
Was my initial thoughts as well. I think its different enough though.
I was just about to mention this, that it looks like Dice Munchkins to me
Looks like Dice Talisman to me!
I also think it sounds a lot like Munchkin with dice. Interesting idea.
Great review looks like something I would enjoy. I went to go buy this after the review only to find out I can't because it's KS and not being sold at retailers ... :(
Andrew, check out the games website (hint, you can buy it there without waiting for kickstarter delivery times(:

DaShiznit69696 I saw that just yesterday when looking at the kickstarter for the expansion. Thanks!

this game is totally random? quarriors is so much more random and you seemed to like it more...

Looks fun! But yes, no strategy here. This would be a great filler game in my gaming group!
There's more strategy than you would think.
Donn Hardy Donn do you own this? how long does a game take?
MarcusWindrune
it's short, a two player game (we use the homemeade print and play version from boardgamegeek.com) takes us 15-30 minutes.
champions of Midgard
Munchkin Dice, with less strategy. LOL!
