    In 3:50 you mentioned how is bad to have those two white checkers on the back doing nothing. Is it wrong to think they might have gotten there because in a couple rolls you had to expose a checker and it was better to expose them behind the blue ones? Its something I do pretty often. So am I playing it wrong?

    Morning from Birmingham.U.K. Started learning this great game this year at the grand old age of 66. Is Backgammon Galaxy suitable for the absolute rookie?

      Hi John, Oz (Peter Ozanne) here in Hampshire. How is it going with Galaxy? I think it's hard to beat for newbies and pros alike: you can see plenty of videos here on RUclips and on the BG Galaxy Facebook, all about the basic rules plus good tips on building up your knowledge of tactics, strategy, and cube play.

      @@BackgammonGalaxy I would call myself an advanced beginner. I analyze every game I play at BGG. I often cringe at my ineptitude. So hang in there.

    Hi Marc, at 5.20 you describe the slot for the 6 prime. If Blue subsequently rolled a 31 and moved 13/9 10/9 to make the 9 point, this leaves a checker open on 13. I realised that this is no drama since you have the 6 prime established, but my question is about the circumstances when it is advantageous for Blue to find his 13 point blot being hit by White. I can see that being hit gives Blue even more Timing advantage and the chance to hit White again as Blue rolls to get back on the board, but if Blue does get back on the board early he is stuck behind White's 5 prime and has to start crunch his beautiful 6 prime.. Are there any good rules of thumb to help consider?

    • @sjsphotog
      @sjsphotog 3 года назад

      Blue doesn't care about getting hit as that's even better for him to slow down the race and improve the prime even longer and avoid breaking. White should NOT hit blue as that is counter intuitive to his game to get a 1-6 jump out and race home safely. Once u have a 6 prime you're golden and should win 85-95% of the time

    I would like to know more about the rules at BACKGAMMON GALAXY? Can you please explain how this rule is a new ruling system and how it is legal to implement this rule as a new standard of play......this is the response from BACKGAMMON GALAXY when I questioned why when I lose a match I receive the penalty of lowering my ranking score and when I win a match from a higher ranked player I do NOT get rewarded any ranking points:
    *The Galaxy Rating system (GR), is a new and innovative system of ranking players, and the way it works: To win GR from your opponent, you have to win both the match AND the error rate battle (the two crowns). If you win one, but not the other, it's a GR draw.*
    Seems like a scam to keep higher ranked players UP and lower ranked players DOWN......

      Its not based on FIBS ranking/ rating. You have to win both the game and make less errors. The better player should be rewarded for rating increase not just the LUCKY player who won and beat a higher ranked player. This is the better system but most sites don't use that rule. Try GammonSiten or SafeHarbirGames if you want the regular system of rating

    Today we all have seen how Backgammon Galaxy is cheating the players. 5 players could watch 20 matches online and after the games every player said the same cheating in perfection ! Be carefull guys and dont spent even one cent playing galaxy - Marc Olsen is called Grandmaster but I cant even find one big tournament he was winning. So why he calls himself Grandmaster ???

    I have to say that THERE ARE SO MANY VARIABLES IN THIS GAME BECAUSE OF THE ROLLS OF THE DICE, what the system is programed that is a correct move may NOT BE depending on the roll of the dice..... THE CORRECT MOVE MAY BE TO LEAVE AN EXPOSED CHECKER but only a FOOL will leave an exposed checker if it can be covered/paired. THE RULES HERE ARE A MATTER OF OPINION and that is exactly what it is....AN OPINION!!!! THERE ARE NO RULES THAT A PLAYER HAS TO FOLLOW EXACT MOVEMENTS ACCORDING TO EACH ROLL OF THE DICE. IT COMES DOWN TO A WIN IS A WIN, AND A LOSS IS A LOSS. ERROR BATTLES is a made up strategy for winners to stay winners and beginners/losers not to advance......kind of what is going on today in politics. HAS BACKGAMMON TURNED INTO A POLITICAL GAME?

      When you join Backgammon Galaxy you start out with a ranking of 1500, if you play well and win, you go up, if you play well and lose (unlucky) you stay the same, If you play badly and win (lucky) you stay the same. Seems pretty fair to me. If you don't like the BG Galaxy system there are plenty of other sites to choose from, no place on Galaxy for whiners thank you. You only go down if you play badly and lose.
