I love how he looked so confused when he got 4 50's. Overall Well done!! What advice do you have for for each of your subjects as I'm doing the same as you?
@@KrishavMalhotrahey there, have a question, I always get told if your in a public school you shouldn't worry about your atar and just be rank 1 and you'll do fine but they say that for normal public schools, but I am in one of the worst public schools and I'm worried about my atar, last year the sacs got scaled down so much only 1 person got above 40 study score in whole cohort, no one got a 90 atar or above, that is how bad my school is, should I be worried about my school scaling system? Should I switch schools(although it's hard for me to switch schools since I'm in the North), what would you say, is it worth switching(BTW im doing exact same subjects as you with early vce methods and bio so any advice on those? ) thanks
@@jefftoney4682 Hey Jeff, as far as I know performing really well on your SACs and scoring well on the exam will get you a high study score regardless of your school. Mainly it comes down to scoring as high as you possibly can in both your SACs and Exams and you should be fine. I do believe a lot of students get too stressed about "SAC ranks" and end up getting demotivated and score lower than they could have. My school was not the fairest in terms of SAC Marking so basically across all my subjects there were other students had higher SAC ranks then me, yet many of them ended up scoring lower than I did despite the sac rankings and I was still able to get perfect 50's (+ 3 Prems as well in Spec/MM/Physics), purely because I performed really well on the exam. Hopefully this clarifies that question, but essentially don't give up hope! Even if SACs don't go your way (sometimes it's the school's fault) you can always perform really well on your exam which is a significant determinant of your SS. In terms of switching schools, I think this is a difficult decision that would depend on a lot of factors. For example, it's important to consider that travel time to school, location, subjects available etc. Ultimately, it is your choice whether you would like to switch schools and it might be a bit hard for me to give a definitive answer since it really depends on your situation :) Hopefully this helps you out mate, let me know if you have any further questions!
@KrishavMalhotra Hi there, I have a question. For textbooks everyone says Cambridge is always better than jacaranda as one of the authors are a harvard graduate for Cambridge. If you did use both of them what textbook did you find better? Should I buy Cambridge if you found it better than jacaranda? Since my school does jacaranda only, or is it like Cambridge is better at certain subjects for example Cambridge is better at specialists maths and jacaranda is better at methods, if you can tell me which textbook did you find better for each of your subjects I would appreciate your help (since I'm doing the same subjects as you) Thanks
Hey! Yeah not entirely sure what I'm going to major in atm, but thankfully there is some flexibility in the guaranteed pathways in UniMelb's Chancellor's Scholar Program!
Congrats! I'm going into Year 11 this year and I'm doing the same subjects as you plus Accounting 3/4 in Y11. Do you recommend I focus only on Accounting in Y11 and focus only on Specialist , Methods and English in Y12, or should I put an equal amount of effort? I was thinking if I focus on only 4, I can get really good on those and maybe mediocre on the other 2, but I'm a bit confused.
Hey VM! Yeah so honestly it's not even worth trying in your bottom 2 subjects in my opinion. If you think about it, 10 study scores in your bottom 2 is worth 1 study score in your top 4. So yeah, that's basically what I did, I tried to max out my top 4 and didn't really care about by bottom 2 at all, and it worked out really nicely! Hope this helps, and lmk if you have any questions 🙂 (sorry about the previous comment, was logged in from my other account lol)
Haha allg. Do you have any tips for meto get A+'s on my SACs. For example, I have my Accounting 3/4 SAC on Tuesday and I'm scared I'm going to mess up during the SAC just cause of the pressure@@KrishavMalhotra
@@vmstudyguides22 Yo all good. So being worried about SACs is completely normal don't worry too much - even I had it. But what you want to ask yourself is - All of students ignore stress (or find ways of coping with stress) but sometimes asking yourself why you are stressed is all you need to do. Adding onto the previous point, I think that once you know you have done enough work, or enough that you feel confident, you reach a blissful state where you think to yourself "And this was the exact same thought I had for all my exams for Year 12 (except for Chem lol). Another thing is, I wouldn't put too much pressure on myself to be perfect in Year 11. I had worked really hard in Year 11 for Bio, and ended up with a score which was definitely good, but I felt I could've done much better. And in Year 12 I definitely was able to do a pretty nice "comeback", so remember it's never the end of the world. Also if it's your first Accounting SAC, which I am assuming it is, you'll likely learn a lot from it anyways (for example, you might learn more efficient ways of studying - i.e. how to score well with less time spent on the subject) Overall bro, wouldn't stress too much. Work as hard as you can, learn from your mistakes/failures and you are on a great path to success in VCE (and life) :) Best of luck for your upcoming SAC tho! Regards Krishav
@@KrishavMalhotra Thank you so much for your detailed reply! I will definitely take into account your advice. Also, may I ask what course you are doing?
@@vmstudyguides22 Hey! No worries, best of luck for your SAC! I'm currently doing a BSc @UniMelb with the Chancellor's Scholarship - which gives me guaranteed entry into nearly any pathway :)
Hey bro im heading into year 12 this year, I have accelerated bio last year and got a 40 RAW, And Im doing all of your subjects except for General in place of SPESH. I have a few questions,.. 1. Did you study ahead? If so by how long? 2. I really want to do well in ENG and Methods and chem, aiming for 45+ any subject specific tips? 3.When did you finish content for these subjects and transition into exam practice? 4. How much time did you dedicate to studying throughout Y12? 5. Any other strategies or tips for 50ss? Thank you, this would help a lot
Hey! 1. Yep I would recommend studying a little bit ahead especially for maths, since if you learn content in maths, you will likely not forget it since it's based more on understanding than rote memorisation 2. English - Try writing good points of analysis and just reuse these within essays. A point of analysis is basically like your explanation/analysis for a language technique/camera shot etc. Methods - Have a really good understanding of the content, a tutor can help with this, since sometimes it does take a lot of time try to understand what's going on/how a formula works etc. 3. Around 2 months before is a good time to start exams 4. Didn't really count how many hours I studied, just did as much as I felt I needed to :) 5. I think understanding of the content and exam technique (for Methods/Spesh) is what distinguishes a raw 50. For English, I think that having sophisticated textual ideas/analysis is really the key to a 50ss as well. But then again, getting a 50ss is very hard to do and can be up to how you perform on exam day as well :) Hope this helps, and wishing you the best of luck for this year! 😃
