I used to watch Heathcliff and Inspector Gadget every morning before school in 8th grade when this was on. I'm from the Detroit suburbs. I would tape He-Man, Superfriends, etc. and watch them when I got home from school.
I remember my parents wanting to get us all those plush toys from Hardee's because they thought they would be worth a lot some day. That day still hasn't come, but those plushes are still somewhere at my mom's house.
I had the "Lady" Disney toy from Hardees. I seem to remember Hardees did a lot of stuffed Disney promotions, as I also got from them a Mickey Mouse as Bob Cratchet doll from them tied into Mickey's Christmas Carol. Only other things I remember getting from Hardees was a Pound Puppy and a read along record tied into Gremlins.
I dunno, but one thing's for sure, It sucks, Unless I'm the one-percent who are tree-hugging hippies, (of which I'm not) then I'd throw that useless shit out the damn window (or compost, perferrably)! Even though I do not hate any plants. the concept behind Chia Pets should've died, as well as wishing it never existed, Therefore it should've been called a Chia Doorstop!
Yay pointless negativity/hollow criticism! Did chia pets murder your family? It's Christmastime. Let the chia seeds into your heart. Then watch them grow overnight!
The Jetsons and He-Man in the same day?!?!? Damn the 80s kicked ass if you were a kid
Totally!!
It totally did! Nothing like it!

These are from Sunday, 12/8/85. "Nestor" aired at 8 PM, followed by "Stingiest Man in Town" at 830 PM.
This is the best I live in this area and finally the EXACT commercials I would have seen...THIS IS GREAT!!!

The Chia Pet, Bringing the tradition of boring to our homes since forever!
Just saw a Chia Pet commercial yesterday. Still going strong.
True, and the Reason that the Chia Pet is boring is the reason it's being parodied on most occasions, One example: South Park
h126the3rd Its a plant man, what do you want it to do?
